Typical small/local grocery store, with limited selection, higher prices than the big box stores. Good if you need some groceries and do not want to make the trek to Kroger or Walmart(whichever is your poison). I typically go to Danny’s for their meats. I love me a steak and some chicken, and they have a great variety of both with great prices as well.

So I try not to ever cause a scene on here but some things have to be said when you hear a grocery store owner being a racist ethnic basher of folks he has no problem taking money from when they buy things at his store. So that the people of Monroe Mi know, I heard the owner of Danny’s Foods bashing Chaldeans and Asians to a customer in the produce aisle, and the customer was agreeing… He was stating how they’re taking over everything and trying to buy up all the stores … He went on to say how Highlite grocery store just«sold out» to them… 1960’s much Danny? I found out who he was from the lady at the deli counter who also heard him(he was real loud) and she told me it was Danny himself. I told her that he was pretty racist and she hung her head. This is 2015 Danny, perhaps your store would be better off without those 2 ethnicity’s spending money there. Well make that 3… Because this ITALIAN household won’t be shopping there anymore either.

Nice, clean, small grocery with a personal attention to detail. The staff seems happy and comfortable and the owner is hands-on. They have a little bit of everything, including some gourmet items, like European cookies and a full butcher counter, so if you’d rather get your meat from someone you know, you might want to check it out. It shares the parking lot with Danny’s Custard Stand, which could be dangerous in the summer months as you treat yourself with something creamy and sweet as a reward for going grocery shopping!
