Canyon Creek Cabinet Company

In April 2015, we installed a large number of inset cabinets in a white finish in a full down to the studs kitchen remodel. The kitchen looks nice but there are things about the cabinets that I think could be better.
1) The interior metal latches get in the way of putting items in the cabinets – and the magnet makes a rattling noise when the doors are opened and closed — a small item that is poor quality reflecting poorly on Canyon Creek.
2) The hinges on the corner cabinet get in the way of the lazy susan such that it will not spin around. In general the hinges are big and bulky on all cabinet doors.
3) On the glass front cabinets (we installed 4), the door has three hinges (does not need 3 huge hinges). The middle hinge gets in the way of placing the glass shelf even with the grid on the glass door front. My husband took out the middle hinge so the shelf would align. Now when you open the cabinet there is a large round hole on the inside of the door where the removed hinge was — looks cheesy, but better than having the shelfs misaligned. This is just poor design on the part of Canyon Creek.
4) The double oven cabinet (a $ 5900 item quote from the CC rep in our area), came with about 6 inches of wood above and below the double oven opening resulting in the drawer below and the cabinet above being undersized and looking very out of proportion (too small). I looked at dozens of photos of double oven cabinets on Houzz and NONE of them looked that way – the appropriate spacing is 2 to 3 inches above and below. I could not «live» with a cabinet that was so wrong in a kitchen that cost a fortune (cabinets alone were $ 60K, plus appliances, and other work –over $ 200K+ total). Our designer/​rep «split» the cost of a new cabinet but that design flaw cost me $ 3K out of my pocket. Not the kind of thing that makes you feel great about your cabinet company (or your designer/​rep).
5) I just noticed a cabinet with damage on our island that I did not see during installation. The sun was shining on it a certain way and now I see a ding in the draw and paint rubbed off probably by strapping during shipment. I am disappointed our rep did not see it and have it fixed before installing the cabinet. Are the reps trained in quality control on receipt? Do the reps care more about CC or the client? This cabinet raises that question. I haven’t even tried to see if can be fixed. Whenever I pointed out issues I got a ton of attitude from our rep like I was bothering her or being too picky. I was afraid to raise issues with her. I think a customer spending $ 60K should get a perfect product and no attitude.
6) When we ordered the cabinets my contractor asked several times for a delivery date so that he could schedule other facets of the project. CC did not seem to be able to give a delivery date — the rep said they would tell her when they shipped — well that is NOT helpful when there is a domino effect on a big project. Mistakes made by our cabinet rep (such as the double oven cabinet & other mistakes), caused a month delay in the completion of our kitchen.
When friends come over they love the look of our kitchen (we love it too). However, I do not recommend the CC line to my friends who ask (and many do). I think for a top dollar price we did not get the best quality product so I cannot make the recommendation. I gladly recommend our contractor who was terrific, but I can’t in good conscience recommend CC to friends.

We used canyon creek in two different houses and both turned out great. One of my neighbors paid way more for a custom cabinet company to come out and I’m so happy I didn’t. My cabinets are of better quality and I saved $$.

these cabinets came with the house we purchased. They were new in 2006 — an espresso finish. Within a year, the stain that apparently is sprayed on the surface (not soaked into the wood), was wearing off on the higher wear edges. Regular stain didn’t seem to work on fixing. CC wanted us to buy a ‘fix it’ kit for like $ 135!!!
Other big flaws — short screws for hinges, unfinished edges and undersides.
In 2012 we noticed that the front of the cabinet panels started discoloring and getting a hazy/​milky sheen on them and nothing removes it.
Have spoken to CC with no success; have gone to various distributors with no success or resolution. All I get is the push to buy their expensive ‘refinish kit’. My previous home’s cabinets — even after 16 years, didn’t need any ‘refinishing’ on any part of them.
Can’t wait to remodel my kitchen and toss these Canyon Creek things into the trash! Honestly, my garage cabinets I got from my local home improvement store– bought them in store, off the shelf — are better quality than these from Canyon Creek.

Ikea quality at custom-​build prices, what’s not to like? Actually, I’m not being fair to Ikea, since a lot of their product is nicely finished and anytime we’ve had an issue, they gave us a no hassle replacement. Canyon Creek, on the other hand, can’t seem to get a quality product to our house no matter what, even though we paid extra for the higher end Millennium line and Nova doors.
The initial delivery in October had glaring issues with finish quality: edge banding, gouges and dents in door face, and failure to sequence match drawers as promised. It was bad enough that our contractor and Canyon Creek dealer asked the folks from headquarters to drive to our house to see first hand the mess they had made. They could have saved the day by a) spending more time on quality control for the remainder of our order and replacements, and b) apologizing to us, or at least acknowledging to us that our order was really sub-​par. But neither happened. The last part of our order had even worse quality than the first, and our replacement doors included one huge scratch and one door that was the wrong color. And so we wait for another round of production and another visit from the (very kind and sympathetic) repair expert sometime next month.
Completely unacceptable quality for the price they are charging. And people are noticing — when we were first shopping for cabinets, a guy at a local home store told me their quality had gone down hill and he wouldn’t use them, but my contractor has a long history with Canyon Creek and assured me it would be a great choice. Well, after our order, he says we will never order from Canyon Creek again.
There were other issues besides the quality — for example, we special ordered a wider than normal cabinet, and on the order form the factory noted «not warrantied against shelf sag». I read that as «hey, over time the shelves might sag a bit». But in fact the shelves sagged in the middle right from the start — the cabinet is just too wide for this shelf without some added bracing. Why wouldn’t they tell us that, and suggest a different cabinet size? But it’s the quality issues that make a one star rating the obvious choice.

I am outraged at Canyon Creek’s lack of concern over my kitchen renovation that began in January and is STILL NOT DONE! They were informed early on that I’m having an important party on June 1, and I was assured everything would be in.
They have made repeated mistakes (3 times, to be exact) regarding the direction of the wood grain on my cabinets… despite the fact that these were THEIR mistakes, they still don’t seem to feel any sense of urgency in getting my kitchen done before my party!
I paid a lot of money for my kitchen, and everything is paid in full. The last time I spoke to my local Canyon Creek rep, I told him I MUST have delivery by May 27 to give my contractors and painter time to get everything done.
Since it takes ONE WEEK to ship it from WA to PA, and nothing has shipped yet, there is NO WAY I will have it on the 27^th. In fact, I don’t even HAVE an ETA. I am DEVASTATED. My kitchen designer said that in 20 years of designing kitchens, she has NEVER had a situation this bad.
I would agree with Joan L about quality control. But furthermore, once they have your money, they don’t seem to care that you’ve waited 6 months for a kitchen. I posted a very negative review on
and quickly increased the star rating from 1 to 3 when I got a shipment of shelves– I was hopeful. Canyon Creek responded on the site that they are aware of my situation and are concerned about it… and they are acting on it.
CANYON CREEK… CALL ME. you know who I am. Tell me why you can’t expedite this when I’ve made it very clear how important this party is to me!
It’s a pity, you have a decent product, but your quality control and customer service is absolutely ABYSMAL… my next step is to consult a lawyer.
UPDATE: I now have a SHIP DATE of 6/20…which means delivery on ⁶⁄₂₇. You’ve got to be kidding me!!! These are YOUR ERRORS, and the order was put through by the kitchen designer on May 13^th. It takes you SIX WEEKS to produce these? AGAIN, I’m put at the end of the line… with half a kitchen done. SHAME ON YOU!

Who is responsible for quality control at Canyon Creek? I spent 2 days at Canyon Creek looking at their cabinets, talking with their representatives, and even listened through a 30 minute in-​service about their product. I left feeling like I was going to get a good product. When my cabinets were delivered, I noticed that the veneers on some of the cabinet edges were starting to bubble and peel away – poor adherence. Now, this may not seem like a big thing, but when you spend thousands of dollars on cabinets you don’t expect them to need repair when they are delivered. I have had other furniture with veneers and this hasn’t been a problem. It would be nice to know why this happens and if it’s a systemic problem.
I will say that the overall color of the cabinets is consistent and that the wood fronts look nice. Still, I would be hesitant to purchase from Canyon Creek again.

Purchased my cabinets from Canyon Creek through Direct Buy… Overall seem to be a nice product… Only down fall I’ve found so far is the screws used for hinges and (soft close door) mechanism are too short and keep stripping only 3± months after installation… Resulit is me having to purchase bigger screws & replace…
