Monhegan Wellness offers health and yoga retreats on Monhegan Island. UnPlug and Get Healthy! Monhegan Island has a natural ability to heal and nourish the soul. Monhegan Wellness builds on this natural ability by offering retreat participants the space and knowledge to take full advantage of all Monhegan offers. Retreats include, yoga, healthy meals, cooking workshops, lifestyle planning workshops, and mindfulness meditation. Retreat participants return to life revitalized and with knowledge to create a healthy life every day.

Retreats are scheduled from May through October.

Custom retreats for friends and family can be arranged.

Monhegan Wellnes offers yoga on a regular schedule and cooking and nutrition workshops weekly.

Monhegan Wellness is owned and operated by Tara Hire, health coach and yoga instructor. Tara offers one-​on-​one health coaching virtually through Skype, Facetime and phone. Her specialties are weight loss, sugar addiction, and finding balance in a busy world

History

Established in 2013.

Tara Hire has been promoting health and wellness on Monhegan Island since 2004. First with a restaurant, The Scruffy Dog (2006 and 2007), then with The Carina Grocery and Deli (2007 – 2013). In 2012, Tara started to offer health coaching and cooking workshops virtually and on-​island. 2014 begins the first year of full time health coaching, yoga teaching and cooking workshops during the Island’s tourist season on Island and continuing virtually the rest of the year.

Business Owner

Tara Hire has a BS degree in Human Nutrition, a Masters in Holistic Nutrition and is a Certified Health Coach. She has studied with renowned nutritionists including Dr. Weil and Deepak Chopra. She is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She has been studying and practicing nutrition for over 20 years. She is a RYT200 Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor incorporating mind, body and soul in her practice.
