Douglas Education Center (DEC) has a long and storied history, from its humble beginnings in 1904 to the present, a common thread throughout its history is the life-​changing experience it has afforded its students. Beyond its official documented history are the personal stories of the thousands of students who have passed through its doors. What started out as a business and secretarial school housed in one building grew exponentially and now DEC spans eight city blocks. Today, over 110 years after its inception, DEC continues to break new ground in academic achievement, staying true to its roots and providing quality education to those who wish to follow their dreams.

Established in 1904, Douglas Education Center (DEC) is a première career institution located in Monessen, PA. DEC creates an educational atmosphere that not only fosters the highest standards of excellence in all students, but also helps these students develop an awareness of social responsibility and ethical behavior. DEC offers programs in natural gas, cosmetology, medical, graphic design and web, business, digital film, special make-​up effects, illustration, and fantasy art.

A passion for economic development, job creation and helping people achieve their dreams underlies the distinguished career of Jeff Imbrescia, CEO/​President of Douglas Education Center. Through the years, he has provided education to thousands of residents in the Mon Valley as well as throughout the United States and abroad. His mission has been to provide a solid education to enrich the lives of those who otherwise may not have had the opportunities to do so. Since purchasing the school, Jeff and his team have implemented unique destination programs that have helped to put Monessen on the map. Jeff’s passion for the community has compelled him to use DEC as a catalyst to revitalize downtown Monessen. Over the years, Jeff has been involved in numerous community organizations. Jeff is currently a member of the Mon-​Vale Resources, Inc. Board of Trustees. Prior to purchasing DEC, Jeff had a successful career at Consol Energy, a subsidiary of DuPont and Conoco, and at the time one of the l
