Went in and there was not much of a selection. I think it was slightly overpriced and not very clean looking. They were out of a lot of things. How do you make a banana split without a banana? I will say that the strawberry cheesecake was good but when I tried to call to see if they had it again no one ever got back to me.

This place is a little hole in the wall ice cream parlor but it is a nice change from the usual scum that you’ll find in Monaca. The place is a family owned and operated ice cream parlor and some of the ice cream is even hand made. They have been Monaca residents for 20+ years. Honestly, this is a nice spot for Monaca natives to go and catch a nice ice cream cone on a warm spring or summer day. Their ice cream is as good as the next shops’ product. The atmosphere and dive-y feel might throw you off a little bit but give them a chance. It is, after all, hard to get a business like that up and running smoothly when you are surrounded by dive bars and cheap Beaver County residents! Best of all. they are as cheap as they come so you can’t beat the price! Give this underdog a chance!

Note #1: CASHONLY! Note #2: There’s no official website, but they can be found on Facebook… Note #3: I believe they’re open until 9PM. We didn’t jot down the hours that were listed on the door, and the business card I took with me doesn’t give them. Kay and I have cruised by Roxy’s a few times, but after having some Rossi pizza nearby, we were in the mood for ice cream on this humid summer evening(and had some time to kill before catching a late show at the Cinemark), so in we stopped. A pleasant, olive-skinned middle-aged woman with jet black hair sat behind a counter talking on the phone, ending her conversation to wait on us. Not that we minded at all. She apologized nonetheless. It seemed to be a slow night, after all, but I can’t imagine why for their homemade hand-dipped ice cream is reasonably gratifying. Roxy’s is microscopic. There’s nowhere to sit inside. On the outside, to the left of the small, pink, brick building are two picnic benches. I got a double scoop(a pecan praline and an Oreo cream) on a waffle cone that was sturdy enough, didn’t leak, and was beginning to take on the consistency of a lightly damp bowl of corn flakes as I finished up. The Pecan Praline was just a little bland, making up for it with huge pecan clusters throughout. The Oreo might have been the best instance of this popular flavor I’ve had in some time. Like the pecan clusters, the Oreo chunks were equally massive yet had the the texture and flavor of chocolate cake, the ice cream itself milky in a refreshing way. Kay got Superman ice cream and didn’t seem too excited about it. Eh, I pretty much liked what I had, however. Here’s hoping they stay alive so I can try some of their other flavors in the future. C’mon people of Monaca. Take your kids there. You don’t need another bar in the neighborhood. P. S. Roxy’s also sells sunglasses. Yep.
