My three kids and I stayed at the Jade Lilly house for ten days while we were in Kaua’i in October 2013. It was perfect for us. We kayaked to the beach almost every day. Everything we needed is within a 10 to 15 minute drive, although we did go to the South side of the island to go snorkeling and to tour the Na Pali coast. My kids did not want to leave Kaua’i and tried to convince me that we could just stay in the house, irrespective of the owner. Within two days, it felt like home. The roosters, chickens, horses, feral cats, donkey, birds, the mountain view, lush trees, the canal, all these things made an indelible impression on me and my kids. Staying at the Jade Lily helped make that possible. It would NOT have been the same at a hotel. A few things: I highly recommend getting a 4WD. It makes getting around the island fun. The kitchen is awesome. The convection oven is really AWESOME. There are two grills outside. Only one has gas and one of the burners is out but it was sufficient for steaks, hotdogs, etc. Depending on the kind of vacation you want, there is spotty AT&T cell reception and internet connections are infrequent on Kaua’i. For me that was a good thing because I could actually unplug from work and the outside world.

Fantastic. If only I could give more than 5 stars, because this rental home is off-the-chart awesome. The house is about ¾ miles down a one lane dirt road. You’re in the country here, far removed from hotel/motel tourist-type locations. The house itself is comfortable and inviting. There’s a really nice kitchen that is the center of the main dining/family room. It’s set up perfectly for relaxing with family or friends. From the lanai you have a view of the verdant hills while hearing the waves crashing at nearby Moloa’a bay. There are two kayaks at the house that you paddle downstream a few hundred yards to the beach. The beach at Moloa’a bay is great. We were there during some big waves, but still could swim there without fear of getting smashed to pieces. During the summer, it’s apparently as calm as a swimming pool with good snorkeling. The backyard at Jade Lily is a magical spot, with a giant shade tree and the stream rolling by. There’s a big gas grill that we gave a serious work out. The nightly cost for Jade Lily was a screaming deal. Dealing with the very friendly owners was a breeze. Without question, next time I’m in Kauai, I’m going to stay at Jade Lily.
