Was visiting the Quad City area for a 2 week class and had dinner here twice. The owner remembers every customer and takes the time to come to your table several times to make sure you are enjoying everything about your meal. The food was so fresh and light… perfectly done!!! He does not use MSG or other preservatives… only natural ingredients and seasoning. If I lived here, I would eat here on a weekly basis!!!

Yummy, if I lived here this would be my go to place for dinner. Food was fresh, yummy and filling. Owner is very proud of his restaurant and it shows in the food and service.

Amazing food at a decent price! Fresh ingredients. Owner is very friendly and will help you with any questions about the menu. He knows his customers very well. I went there once. The next time, I went with a friend. He said«you have been here before». Then pointed at my friend«you have not».

We enjoyed the egg roll, dong noi pork and hue beef, all were very good but I thought the beef topped the list. Good service and a very friendly owner makes this a great place to dine.

A few months ago, I was on a Phở binge and I ate at every restaurant that served it around here. I was pretty let down by this place. The phở was very bland! I really can’t remember anything about it, except being disappointed. Take that how you will. The owner seemed to be put off by a woman eating by herself and didn’t speak to me at all. After reading the reviews on here, I’m kind of relieved!

Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere too! We got the sweet and sour soup and it was delicious and my boyfriend and I shared it. They even brought it out for us in smaller desperate bowls I thought that was really nice of them to do! Then we had the tan buu chicken that had his delicious light sauce that was sweet at the end I told my boyfriend I loved it! I think he liked the beef dish better that we got I don’t remember the name of it but it was good too! The owner is very loud but I liked him.

Worst bowl of Phở I have ever tried, hands down. I eat authentic Phở at least once a weak, and To call that Phở is a joke. Even worse, after eating their sorry excuse for a bowl of Phở, I could not stop vomitting. Just awful. On top of the terribble food, the service was even wose. The owener is a loud, arrogant a$$hole, treats his employees like crap, walks in circiles around the restaurant and pesters people to visit him the following day so he can mae more money. Just a miserable dining experience. Avoid at all costs!!!

This is by far the best place to get Vietnamese Phở in the QCA. Many of the other dishes are great as well, but standard Asian for the area. Nothing out of the ordinary. Priced well, and filling. Business-casual style dining area, and an owner who will remember you a year later. Some say he is pushy, but that’s the Asian way. He is always walking around, checking on people, but I think that’s his interpretation of Western customer service practices. I believe his wife actually does the cooking as she always comes and asks me how I liked everything. In the past 3 years, I’ve been here about 5 times, very sporadically, as I’ve been living in KC until now. She has said«I saw you and gave you extra becuase I know you like extra.» Which is true. Bottom-line: best phở, everything else – ok. Decent service, and prices, but unless you’re Asian, or a wealthy white, they may not remember you.

I just got back from Vietnam a few months ago. This place literally is as good as it gets. I came in with a group of about twenty people who had all traveled with me with Augustana College and everyone agreed that the food was excellent. The beef was amazing in every dish we tried as was the chicken. They even have the same beer they serve in the bars in Vietnam. AMAZING. If you want authentic Vietnamese check out Pasteur.

I’ve been here a few times and I must really not be memorable because, unlike seemingly all the other reviewers, the owner has never recognized me on subsequent visits. No strikes against him for that though, I’m not going to knock a restaurant based on inconsistencies in patron memorization. The food has always been good, but I personally find the owner’s constant running around and chatting with patrons to be off-putting. Maybe it’s charming after you get to know him a little bit, but I’d prefer to be left alone while I eat. His«gentle ribbing» is something that I wouldn’t mind at all if the owner and I actually knew each other, but I don’t really find it appropriate when I’m a patron in a restaurant and just want to relax with my fellow diners in peace. Would have given 4 stars if not for these items.

My family has been loving this shop for decades, and I finally got to check it out on a recent visit. The food was very good, and the staff is amazingly friendly. I went twice two months apart, and the owner remembered me and what I ordered. I ordered vegetarian dishes both times, and both were very good. My table-mates had chicken and shrimp, and they loved both. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town.

Was in town on business and based on reviews Pasteur had to be on my checklist. My experience almost ended driving around the uninviting area but nothing was getting in the way of the only place in town with Phở on the menu. The menu is kept simple limited to a few popular vietnamese dishes. I had a Phở loaded with beef balls and sliced raw beef(the only two options available) with spring rolls on the side. Everything was good and chatting in French with the owner was part of the experience that evening. Like most Unilocalers around here, you quickly realize the overly welcoming owner is quite entertaining and will remember you by your name and/or what you order next time.

Ordered Dalat Shrimp(fresh shrimp, zucchini, green peppers, chestnuts, onions on a bed of lettuce) spicy and spring rolls to go. The shrimp dish wasn’t spicy & a tad bit too much Ginger. The spring rolls were excellent. Very limited wine list, but had a glass while I waited. I’ll definitely try this place again. I’m going with beef next time.

Why did I wait so long to try this place??? Great food(Talat Shrimp). As stated in other reviews, the owner is a riot, without being obtrusive! No wonder this place appears to have a loyal following!!!

I dined in to see what all the fuss is about, and was kinda disappointed. I was not as charmed by the chatty owner as other reviewers. He is friendly, but the excessive talking and him running around from table to table is distracting. I thought the food was good, but not anything special. Not a memorable meal, by any means.

I’ve eaten here for 15+ years and is always very good. The owner is great and will remember you the next time you visit. His wife is in back cooking. You can tell by the food that great care went in to the selection and preparation. I usually get the tan buu chicken while others I go with get chataeu beef, egg rolls with fish sauce, and cashew chicken or shrimp. On weekends call for reservations. Don’t miss this place!

This restaurant never dissappoints. With a small, cozy atmosphere, your best bet is to call in ahead of time to reserve a table on the weekends. I’ve been going to this place since sophomore year in high school and my friends and family always get the same thing! Tan Buu Chicken, Chataeu Beef, Chicken Fried Rice, Spring rolls and the wonton soup. If you’re in the mood for high end vietnamese cuisine — this is the place to stop! Sung, the owner, never forgets!

The best restaurant that we have found in the entire quad city area. We moved here from Chicago, so we know quality food and good restaurants. We absolutely love Pasteur. Every single thing that we have ordered has been amazing, and everyone that we have brought with us has agreed. The owner is funny and very personable and he always remembers a customer. If you have never been there before, he will be sure to point that out«You’ve never been here before! Welcome to Pasteur!» Definitely check it out.
