Super 8 Mokena/Frankfort/I-80

I stayed here on Christmas eve, the room was clean it, there was no mold or smell in the room. This is not a 5 star hotel, so don’t expect all the bells and whistles. The TV was old yet still worked. When I come back to that area I would stay here again.

If I could give 0 stars I would. In town for 5sos concert and booked the room on Priceline a month ago. Get there and they have no record of my reservation and told me it wasn’t their problem and to call Priceline. After 15 min on the phone waiting for Priceline I finally ask the other more friendly employee if there are any rooms available. She helps us find a room and also honors the booking price I was given. How is it that 2 people are literally standing next to each other and doing the same job and polar opposites. I know this hotel isn’t a great stay but it was what was available. The room was clean and worked for what we needed. I have family in this area and will definitely never stay there again based on this experience. Will also be sharing with family members in area to avoid for any out of town visitors. Although I’m sure they already know.

This place is absolutely disgusting. With most dumpy hotels I get reserved for my trips I make it a habit of checking Unilocal,The Better Business Bureau and wait for it the sex offender database for each state. Now I don’t normally post on here and actually just signed up for Unilocal to add reviews because of this place
So I checked the reviews, no surprise bad. BBB. Eh. The Illinois State Police Sex Offender database really was what freaked me out. Apparently, the Super 8 in Mokena, houses a registered sexual predator. No foolin. Google the Illinois State Police. Find the sex offender registry and search for Mokena. Just passing it along to everyone else. I would recommend going across 80 to Tinley Park and staying in one of their hotels.

The room was very outdated, but decently clean.
We tried to see if our room was ready a little early so we could unpack and head downtown for some shopping. However, they let us know if we wanted to check in early the room was ready, but would charge us an extra $ 20.00.
The next morning we went in the lobby for the continental breakfast which was a few apples and coffee. No cereal, waffles, or donuts. When I asked for some juice for my toddler, they said the juice machine was broken. However, my husband stayed here about 6 months ago and it was broken then too. Definitely will not stay here again.

Well evidently I’ve stayed at some real s***hole motels because although this place was skeevy it wasn’t as bad as other hotels I’ve been to.
It looks really clean and new (ish) from the outside. The inside is a different matter. Very odd floor plan in the lobby. The hotel was overbooked for the night I was there but I checked in at 2:30pm so I snagged a room.
I was told I was getting a smoking room. I insisted I reserved a non smoking room (knowing full well I had the email reservation on my phone) but just played along to see how long the lady behind the counter would carry on this lie. I finally showed her my email and confirmation so I won that battle.
The Super 8 however, won the war.
I arrived at my room to find it was in the middle of being made up. I waited in the hall for 5 more mins and finally went in.
There is some major humidity in the building and it has made its mark. Peeling wallpaper and a general «dampness» that made me wear flip flops on the carpet in my room. Ugh.
Remote for tv didn’t work very well. The buttons on the room wall safe were covered in some kind of brown funk so I didn’t try to use it.
I was attending a wedding reception 2 doors down so the location was the only bright spot about my stay. My room with 2 beds cost $ 100.00.
Be warned…

Yeah. This place was disgusting. You don’t expect much but things like oh let’s say your bed sheets, should be clean! There should not be pubic hairs on the «clean» sheets. The floor is gross. I wanted to sleep with my shoes on and if I had a full body condom I would have worn it to bed! The blanket had cigarette burns all over it. The only good thing about this place was the older gentleman at the desk. He was very nice. I will never stay here again. The only reason we did stay is because it was for only 5 hours. Never again.

There are certain standards one expects when making reservations at a chain hotel. Super 8s I have stayed in are never fancy but always clean and reliable. Unfortunately, this one violates that rule of thumb.
I should have known something was awry when we first entered the place and it smelled like an ashtray. Most of the rooms on the first floor are non-​smoking, so it’s questionable as to why it smelled this way.
Upon entering our room, we were overcome with a smell that can only be described as a mix of mildew and cheap strawberry incense. The room was damp, and the carpet was wet from the humidity caused by the AC. There was actually a large amount of mildew growing in the eaves of the bath tub. Ick.
It was so humid in the room, that my phone collected condensation. Today I also realized that my clothes were still damp several hours later after checking out… hopefully they won’t mold!
Major appliances (TV, fridge) were not plugged in. I had to hunt down where the power strip was located behind the particle board dresser and remove a dresser drawer in order to reach the power cords for said appliances. Once I finally got the fridge on, it smelled like a body had previously been stashed inside.
The light in the bathroom was a roulette of sorts. Sometimes it would turn on normally. Other times it had to be turned off and on several times in order to make it light up normally. The lights to the room itself were also randomly working off and on.
The safe in our room was broken. Apparently this is a common theme because the girl at the desk didn’t seem surprised.
Let’s face it. I didn’t expect much from a Super 8, but this is ridiculous. The outside of the building is exceptionally nice looking. Don’t be deceived.
