I have never felt so compelled to write a review. I have tried nearly everything on Pops menu(at 3 different locations), and find that I am almost always dissapointed. The meat is flavorless and dry(beef, sausage, and chicken) The cream of chicken soup is basically clumps of cornstarch with a can of VegAll. The meat/bread ratio is unacceptable. I have no idea how this resturaunt continues to stay in business. I keep giving it another chance, and always regret my decision. The only thing I like on the menu is the cheese fries.

They always seem to mess up our orders. Argumentative employees. We called them to let them know they left something out if our take out order, the girl working claimed that it’s not possible. Not possible for fast food restaurant to mess up our order? Yeah right. Food is typical frozen, deep fried stuff. Their giardenara seems to be homemade and is quite good. Expensive, mediochre, frozen deep fried food with subpar service. Stick to the Pop’s location in Palos Heights.

First time at Pops in Mokena. Several things that I noticed right off the bat were that the music in the restaurant was very loud, and that a majority of people in the restaurant were waiting for their food for take-out. We were there for dinner time, and it was just my group, and one other group. We got the double cheeseburger with fries– lots of fries!(See picture) The burger was very average. Filling food, at a fair price. The fries were comparable to McDonalds. We will be going back to try the other sandwiches! We have a bunch of coupons from the Valpack thing in the mail– locals should look for those coupons! For what the restaurant is, it does its job.

The service has been poor every time. Being so close to my house I would much prefer to go to pops and avoid that dr Seuss maze at portillos. I don’t know what is specifically wrong at pops but some of their staff seem to have a genuine disdain for customers. I go back about once a year and hope that there is a turn around. I know nobody is getting rich over there and I don’t want to pile on here, but no matter what job I have had in my life I have shown a bit of pride in my approach. Having said that management is ultimately responsible either by the type work environment they create, simply not caring, or taking their eye off the ball. I will try again but what has been there has been there since day 1

It’s just okay. It’s not super great, but not terrible either. The burger doesn’t come with mayo unless you ask for it, and it’s pretty good. I guess Unilocal reviews are always better when someone has a strong opinion about a place, yeah? Sorry.

For the price the food is decent. The service is where they miss completely. The teenagers working there couldn’t be less engaged in their job. Standing and talking while a line emerges is the norm. Asking for items they forgot, seems to be a major inconvenience for them with huffing and puffing as though you are dealing with a two year old. Don’t even try to ask a question, the flip answer will just upset you. Spend the five extra minutes in the car and hit Portillos.

Pops isn’t what it used to be. Stopped in and bought 3 Italian Beefs, hot dogs, and a chilli dog. Worst meal ever the beef au jus was grose seemed old and watered down. The chili was flavorless and my kids who never complain about hot dogs hated them. From now on we’ll stick to Portillo’s.

Got the breaded steak sandwich for dinner tonight, which has always been my favorite at the Palos location… it was great! Love a good breaded steak sandwich.

I have been here numerous times. This is by far the worst Pops I have ever been to. They are more expensive than the other locations and do not offer specials like other locations do. I will never visit this Pops again the prices, food, and service is an embarrassment to the Pops name.

Fast service. Go there for lunch and can be back to work on time. I only have 30minutes for lunch so fast service is a must. The beef is good and I love their pasta sandwich and gyros are good. I would not recommend the chilli dog. Not so good but that’s the only item that I have tried and didn’t like. They have daily specials and are have reasonable prices.

In from out of town and thought we would try eating here only to be disappointed in the service and the polish sausage. The staff here leaves alot to be desired. No hello, welcome or thank you. They could certainly use customer service courses. The only thing pleasant about the experience was the cream of chixken soup with rice. The sausage itself was bland and cold. I wish them the best but i am one customer that wont be back on our next visit.

Your run of the mill Chicago restaurant. Service: Service is always very quick and friendly. The wait: None Food: Food is always a delight, my personal favorite is either a Gyro Plate or a Mini Corn Dogs. Girlfriend always likes to get the Beef and or a Gyro. Not a big fan on their beef. Overall: I will be for sure coming back in the near future. Their Carry Out is also very convienent for when I am in a pinch.

Amazing food. Been in there over 10 times and have been pleased. Hot dogs and pizza puffs were fantastic. Love going here.

Where the customer is expected to be a chump. Went tonight for a couple gyros, asked for the sauce on the side, not extra just on the side. They wanted to charge me $ 2 extra for a 15 cent little cup. The food is good, service is fast but don’t expect a simple smile or a thank you. Just give them your money and move along. There are lots of places in the area to get a gyro. I stopped here because I was in the area and it was convenient. Next time I will drive a little further.

It makes me sad to have to write this review. I’ve been going to Pop’s for 20 years. Originally, the one on 103rd and Kedzie. When we moved out to NL, we were happy there was one close by. We’ve also had catering from there. The food was never as good as the original, but still good. I’ve never had too much of an issue there. A couple times our order was screwed up, and since it’s not 2 minutes from us it is a hassle and not worth it to drive back and fix it. I’ve never felt the need to call and complain until yesterday. I called ahead for my order so it would be ready since I had my kids with me and I know they would be hungry. They asked when I would be there, I said 10 minutes, and I was told my order would be ready for me(a beef sandwich with hot peppers, a double cheeseburger and a choc. shake). I arrived about 13 minutes later, and the food was not ready, which was annoying in itself. Then I asked for an additional cup for my chocolate shake — so my kids could share it. I was given a styrafoam cup. I asked if I could have a regular cup with a lid and was told«I have to charge you for that.» A CUP? Upon arriving home, my husband opened his double cheeseburger to see the most poorly assembled cheeseburger. The buns were going in two different directions, the burger was hanging off. There was cheese all over the wrapper and the buns were wet. My beef sandwich had no peppers. I called and spoke to Patty. I told her what happened. She said well you can drive over here with the sandwich and I can replace it or give you your money back. I explained I was 15 minutes away, my kids are hungry and I don’t have the time or gas to drive there. She said well people call us all the time so I have to see the sandwich to make sure something is actually wrong. She also said«Well the peppers are free, so…» I DON’T CARETHATTHEPEPPERSAREFREE. I WANTEDTHEMONMYSANDWICH. I told her that was ridiculous to treat customers this way, and that they have lost us as a customer. As she continued saying the PEPPERSAREFREE, I hung up. I’m appalled by this behavior.

Pops is the Poor Man’s Portillos. If you can’t afford Portillos then go here. Always been a favorite of mine. I love the Meatball, Beef, Burgers, Cheese Fries and Poppers.

Maybe this place changed their attitude due to the reviews about rude service. I had some of the most polite service I can think of, and everyone was in a great mood. The beef sandwich was just ok, and didn’t have very much taste like I was expecting. The fries were cooked perfectly though, and were great. Overall– nothing outstanding, but it’s not bad.

Pop’s for those times you don’t care about health, you just want greasy, hot, fast food and in particular a hot dog wrapped up with fires. I would come here much more often but no one else in my family really cares for this place. I have had better hot dogs but it is close and quick. The Italian sausage and Italian beef are better than the hotdogs but I am a hot dog lover kind of guy.
