Fleckenstein’s Bakery

I had my wedding cake made here in May 2016 and they seriously did EXACTLY what I wanted. The cake was also delicious and everyone was raving on how great the lemon layer was! I highly recommend them!

Stopped for a quick bakery fix! Tried the German chocolate cupcake and Bavarian donut. Both were delicious! Service was great and the facility was nice and clean. Only downside is that they didn’t have any tables and chairs to enjoy the treats.

Amazing bakery. Go there for every occasion. We haven’t had anything from there that wasn’t amazing.

I thought this place was a little pricey but once I got the cake I realized that you do get what you pay for. I went to Fleckenstien’s a week prior to my son’s birthday and gave them a generic picture of what I was looking for. They were great to work with and added so much more detail then I expected. I would recommend this bakery to anyone. If you think it is a little more expensive then other places you have searched please know that you do get what you pay for. They went above and beyond what I expected!

You know you are visiting a scrumptious place when you see people sitting in their car eating their goodies. Yes! The items are so enticing you will want a bite before you get home.
The line was long but moved impressively quick and smooth. The staff was helpful answering questions and recommending alternates for sold out items.
We opted for the carrot cake birthday cake, cupcake samples, cookies, brownies, and kolaches.
The only disappointing item was the mint brownies. Every other item was delicious, moist, and fresh.

I get cakes and cupcakes made each year for my kids’ birthdays and any holiday party we have throughout the year. We’ve ordered special made bakery items over 20 times over the last five years and have nothing but fabulous things to say about Fleckenstein’s! So yummy! Highly recommend!

Customer service is first and foremost in any business. Every experience here has been awesome to say the least. I recently had to cancel an order due to my pregnant wife being sick and they were warm and understanding. I know it was an inconvenience for them and I would have paid if they asked. That was the last thing they were concerned about. Very nice and understanding girl on the phone. Completely understood and cancelled my order. I can never go in the bakery without buying multiple things and now you are guaranteed my business forever! Compassion and understanding goes a long way. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

I was on the hunt for a delicious king cake in Illinois and Fleckenstein’s did not disappoint! I chose their traditional style cinnamon king cake and it was a light sweet bread with a nice amount of cinnamon flavor. Reminiscent of a cinnamon roll, but with the customary king cake sugar crunch. Delicious and highly recommended! I also sampled four different flavors of their cupcakes and they were all delicious. My favorites were the German chocolate cupcake and the turtle cupcake. I also enjoyed their decorated sugar cookie. It was my first visit, but I will definitely be back!
I am adding an update to this review: I made it to four bakeries in Illinois for king cake this year and Fleckenstein’s king cake was my favorite! If you are looking for a king cake to celebrate Mardi Gras, I highly recommend Fleckenstein’s Bakery.

Best bakery around. Love the vanilla fingers, butter cookies and the gourmet cupcakes. Fantastic jelly donuts. Never had a bad baked good from here. I can’t wait for the New Lenox location to open.

This place is amazing. I work in a bakery myself and I am impressed with the quality and love of the product they put out here. I drove an hour for their doughnuts. An hour! It was worth it. Don’t pass up the chocolate bismarcks; they’re balanced doughnut perfection. A lot of fillings tend to be too syrupy, sweet, over-​processed, or fake; I can tell the ones they use here are very high quality. I very rarely give a business 5 stars, so when I give this rating, I truly mean it.

I was excited to stop here after all these good reviews to purchase a cupcake for my grandma’s birthday. Unfortunately although the items we got from there are good it is not worth the frustration of dealing with how the store is run. I walked in and took a number and proceeding to walk around and look at the goods. I selected my items and asked why my number hadn’t been called yet and was informed that they don’t use it and I needed to get in line. Unfortunately at this point there was a woman in front of me that I had arrived before who proceeded to take ALL of their vanilla cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes, and pumpkin cupcakes. I asked if they had more of any of those and they informed me they did not except for ones that say Cubs on it. Not quite appropriate for my Grandma’s birthday. When I complained about them not using their number system and that they should take it down I got brushed off like it was no big deal. Crappy customer service!!! Also we were VERY disappointed with the size of everything, the cupcakes and cookies were NOWHERE near as big as a normal bakery.

Wow really good bakery had the cinnamon roll and a blueberry kelache wow I will be stopping here again. Service was very good nice energetic and eager to sell.

I live about 15 miles away from Fleckenstein’s Bakery. Not really that far but I have a couple of closer bakeries. Lately, I have been disappointed with the bakery I usually go to. Things do not seem fresh. I had heard good things about Fleckenstein’s and I saw on their website that they make Dutch apple pies, so I called and requested that they hold one for me. When I arrived it seemed like my pie was the only one left and it was still hot.
It was for my son’s birthday dessert, he is not a cake fan. It was delicious. After having it, my husband declared it the best Dutch apple pie he had ever had and we all agreed. I look forward to going back and trying some of their other products. If you are interested in trying this place out — you either need to get their early or call and reserve what you want. I picked my pie up around 10:45 or 11am on a Thursday and the place was out of donuts.

The absolute BEST buttercream frosting ever!!! If they sold it by the tub, I would buy it and eat it! Oh yeah… and the cakes UNDER the frosting Rock too! I also LOVE their kolaches… they are amazing… I’m drooling just typing about them. My only complaint is that they don’t seem to carry them every day. If you pass it up when you drive by on LaGrange, do an immediate U-​turn! You won’t be disappointed!

The cake was delicious and the bakery really worked with us to use a cake topper that my mother had bought in Italy and wanted to use. It was very delicate and hard to stabilize. The cake was absolutely perfect and they were very accommodating considering we completely revamped our cake design at our meeting a month out. My only issue, and the reason for 4 stars (I wavered giving 3 since it really was a pretty big mistake), is they really screwed up the color of our flowers on the cake. My mother-​in-​law gave them a color swab of the primary purple color for our wedding so they could match the flowers. Although the cake was stunning and absolutely nummy, the flowers were such a dark purple they looked black. This was not the color of our dresses and really ruined the overall affect of our cake. Other than that, we were very pleased!

I used to work here back in High School & can truly say it was a fun experience. They have such a high standard of quality & cleanliness you wouldn’t believe it! Their strict code of conduct & discipline in the workplace stays with me to this day. To say that this is a family business is an understatement. It is truly their passion!
Sons Ray & Ross have gone all out to keep their family’s business up to date & thriving while maintaining the high level of quality that their founding parents, Bob & Joan, built their business upon in 1978.
It was no surprise to me that they were expanding their bakery while other competitors in nearby Tinley Park & New Lenox were closing their doors for good.
I think it goes without saying that their products are the best and with being made fresh, the same day, with no artificial preservatives… Well, the early bird gets the worm. Those who do find themselves up early will be rewarded with a great selection of pastries & sweets. If there’s something you really want, then I suggest placing an order a day or two ahead of time so you don’t have to rush in there at the crack of dawn.
If you need a specialty cake, don’t hesitate. There’s almost nothing they won’t do, (in good taste).
I hear that they’re going to be opening up a new location in downtown New Lenox, near the train station, which makes it a great location to grab a coffee & doughnut before catching the train. My only hope is that people won’t loose their appetite from the foul stench of the sewage treatment plant less than a block away!

Best bakery in the suburbs! We order pure thanksgiving pies here: cranberry blueberry pecan! So good! Cakes and cookies are amazing!

I have never been to the bakery but I went to a wedding last night and they had cupcakes from this bakery on the sweets table. Hands down, the best cupcakes I have ever had. Perfect size, perfect cake, perfect amount of frosting and fillings. Unbelievably good and I am not a big cupcake person! This bakery’s cupcakes blow away any other ones I have had in the past, including the overrated ones from Crumbs, sprinkles, and magnolia in the city.
I will definitely stop in when I am in the sw burbs which I am quite frequently.

Hands down the absolute BEST cake donuts on 5 continents!!! I have never been to Asia or Africa.
You will never want donuts anywhere else! Simply the best tasting yummy donuts even 2 days later. YUMMERS!
