The Home Depot in Mohegan Lake combines the small town customer service with the big store knowledge and expertise. I went into this this store with a very long and maddening list and honestly I didn’t know if anyone could really help me with this special order. Well the team of people they have working there are amazing !!! John & John plus a young lady I didn’t catch her name helped in hardware. In the Pro desk Andrew was the best, he got every part of my order perfect and this all a special order plus it came in so quickly. I had dealt with a local lumber yard prior to going Home Depot and boy what a mess so I was so grateful they were so organized and together. And then the supervisor Paul another awesome person, along with the crew that helped us load the stuff onto the rental truck. Oh and also Joe from doors and windows who helped me from the beginning and got the ball rolling. The experience at Home Depot was great! Believe me I went to the local lumber yards (don’t go there) they don’t hold a candle to the knowledge and customer service at Home Depot. Great job crew!

Guys… Cmon, its a big box retail store. Many of the worker know their stuff! Some are old contractors. A lot of them don’t!!! Its a just a job for them. Do the teenage girls and boys that work there look like they know what a gang box is? But… They have everything. There is a ton of parking and its all organized. Most of the workers are really friendly an knowledgeable. The prices are better than you can find online and the return policy is very generous. If an employee cant figure it out, well, every contractor in the area shops there as well so just ask them! The only thing that would make this place better is if they had a rental equipment!

Without a doubt and/​or even a close second for competition this has to be the worst HD in the history of Humanity. Seriously having to ask 5 people for a fencing nail and each one coming up empty and sending me to three different places? And yes I looked as well. No one could be bothered to help me instead passing it off.
And last week when I tried to get a refund for an item purchased hours earlier from the Fishkill store they said they would not process it even though it was paid for in cash. My bad for giving them another chance after that.
That’s why I love me a good old fashioned hardware store where people are not only knowledgable but passionate about what they do. The mother ship in Fishkill is far superior to this one and is worth any distance to shop there instead as I normally do when needed. But I will always check small shops before going to any big box. Shameful.

The worst customer service experience I ever had! Do not shop in this store if you are looking for quality service. Shop elsewhere… preferably Lowe’s!!! They mismanaged my purchase from the onset and I had nothing but headache’s, grief and aggravation not to mention the shear waste of my time I had to dedicate to contacting them each time (they never answer the phone).
They all said the same story…“We are sorry and we will rectify it and get back to you a.s.a.p.” AND THEY NEVER DID! I always had to follow up and once again be put on hold for up to 20 minutes at a time to hear the same story… Purchasing a washer and dryer should be an easy thing to do… not if you go to this location. In my opinion, they are all incompetent — including the «manager’s» that I spoke with (which are numerous). Each manager told me they needed to speak with the other manager that wasn’t there… the cycle kept repeating themselves until I phoned corporate to complain and amazingly the recovery process sped up.
To make up for the trouble they offered me 10% off my purchase. I accepted that and asked if it can be used in any other store — I was told I needed to come to that location to pick it up (I live in NYC) — so I once again phoned in the morning to make sure everything was in place so there would be no hassle. I was told yes. When I got there no one had a clue as to what I was talking about and the «manager» (I use that term very loosely) that I spoke with and assured me had to leave for an emergency and failed to leave word with anyone else.
The missed service calls, miscommunication, poor customer service and overall lack of concern for the customer is something that Corporate should be made aware of because in this case «the inmates are clearly running the asylum»
I will never step into that location again. Wake up Home Depot! You wonder why Lowe’s is winning over you!

Do not order any major appliances from this store. They tell you «free installation» and free «haul away» but they will ALWAYS come up with some bs reason why they can’t. Happened twice to me, but never again.

I am not a contractor, I’m a home owner. When I needed a screw to (hopefully) fix a sliding drawer in the kitchen, I had 2 choices, here or the one remaining hardware store, a mile or so further away than HD. I go to the local hardware store and get 1 screw and the guy says «Have a nice day and I hope it works».
Yeah, the 5 cents wouldn’t have changed anybody’s life, but here I would have had to buy a package of 30.
And take one look at the near constant line to return items. I’m only here when I absolutely have to be here.

You need to get you employees on the proverbial same page. When my Husband went in on Thursday ⁸⁄₂₂ he was given information by a manager on how to rent a truck and she gave him prices, rental time, overage, etc. We went in on Sunday to rent said truck and Paul, who was at the main desk told us something entirely different. He was also most unpleasant and if I’m in HD again, I would avoid him at all costs. He was rude, grumpy and overall not very helpful. It seemed the majority of the employees at this particular location are rude and just not very helpful. There is also a long wait time when the particular person needed to do a certain job isn’t around. Perhaps train your staff better to accommodate in these situations.
Sadly this is the only option in the immediate area and they know it too.

In May I signed a contract with Home Depot for new siding. The sales agent, Greg, promised that the installation would be done by the end of June. In July Home Depot informed me that my product would be delivered soon. On July 29^th a contaractor team was dropped off in a white van. No one had any badges and there was no manager on site. They started to destroy my wood shutters. I tried to tell them I was keeping them in both English and Spanish. I got no reply. One of the guys cut himself and threw bloody tissues and bandages all over my driveway. I did not notice this until they had left. My two year old son and dog picked up the bandages. My two year old son had blood on his hands. The men also piled my shutters and other debris on top of my newly planted rose bushes (that I had purchased from Home Depot). The second day different men came and one went and peed in my neighbors yard near his five year old daughters window. My neighbor called me and I went outside and yelled at the guy. The men continued to dispose of my shutters even after my installation manager «Doug» told them not too. Doug called them off the job but they still stayed until I called Doug four times. Then a new team showed up the next day. These were professional people that cleaned up after themselves and did not pee on my neighbors property. However, they ran out of material and more material had to be ordered. Doug told me that the job would be complete in between 3 and 5 days. The contractors told me ten days. So I thought about 10 days would be about right. On day 11 I begin to call Doug to ask him what the holdup is and he does not take my calls. I had a tree scheduled to be taken down and the debris left on my lawn (damaging my lawn) was in the way of the removal. The company I was getting the tree removed by is on my street and told me that they could not take the tree down with that debris there. The debris sat there from July 29^th to August 11^th. It killed the grass that I bought from Home Depot and planted there because it is hard to grow grass on my lawn. Now I have to do that again. Doug finally agreed to have the debris removed and actually ended up doing it himself. However, it has now been more than ten day or even 14 days. I keep calling Doug to see what the problem is but he avoids my phone calls, hangs up when he knows its me, forces me to call from different numbers, and generally ignores the situation. Home Depot than gives me the number of Terry, another installation manager. Terry is great with customer service and calling people back but the only answer he can give me is «I have to ask Doug» or «I don’t schedule Doug’s teams». This becomes very annoying as he has no answers for me. Again I call the 1 – 800 number for help and they try to call Doug and get no response. I call the 1 – 800 number five times and get nowhere. In the mean time water started coming into a window that water had never came in before staining my wall and damaging my floor. (I have been told by Terry that an insurance claim would have to be opened up by Doug who does not take my phone calls.) The men come over to work 19 days later but don’t have enough material to finish the job. They do stop the leak that was caused by an open J Channel and incomplete siding around the window (according tot he contractor on site). I am then told they have to order white siding to wrap the porch. I then call Home Depot stores in the area and ask them if they have this in stock. Every store has this item in stock. I am not confused because I was told by Doug and Terry that this has to be ordered. When I told that to Terry he did admit the item was in stock. I call the 1 – 800 number again for help and this time the agent laughs at me for being so upset and tells me to calm down. I hang up with her and call the 1 – 800 number back to report the agent. the manager is very nice and tells me she will get me in contact with John Sutton. She also promises to call me back and follow up with me. She does not follow up with me and I am unsure if she ever got a hold of this John Sutton. It is August 22^nd and my job is still incomplete but my credit card was charged the entire price of the job on August 4^th. I am promised the men will come back and finish on Friday but am always promised they will be here on Friday every week. I believe that this is because its the end of the week and I can’t start complaining again until Monday. I would never hire Home Depot to do anything again. They promised the job would be done by the end of June. It’s the end of August and the job is still not done. I am having Lowe’s install my gutters even though the nearest one is across the Tappan Zee Bridge. I am very disappointed by Home Depot.

Not bad for a local store. Employees aren’t always around to assist you though.
We buy their wood pellets for our pellet stove. 2 brands we’ve tried are green supreme and stove chow. (Out of the 2, we prefer stove chow but its just okay. Doesn’t burn too too hot and it is a bit ashy.)
Good selections of plants and seasonal items.
A side note — If lowes opened nearby I’d never shop at this Home Depot.

They look convenient and cheap, but products are often low quality and store policies are ridiculous.
Bought a portable generator yesterday. My car was really too small to take it home, but the enthusiastic employees took the generator out of the box and crammed it into the back seat, in the process (as I noticed later) scratching the inside of the door and tearing the rear seat upholstery.
Put gas and oil in the generator, it started fine, but produced no electricity. Today neighbor who is an engineer came over and noticed that a metal cowling had been knocked inward somehow (dented, paint peeling off), and had cut through the wire protector and the wires. It was nothing that I did; I know if I’d hit it against anything hard enough to do that, I would remember.
Took the unit back to Home Depot expecting to just get a replacement, and was told that since I had put gas in it all they can do is «send it out for repair, free of charge». That is, I get to suffer for the fact that they are selling damaged goods.
So at the moment I’m looking at getting a refurbished generator two months from now, for the full price of a new one from stock, because Home Depot’s official policy cares only about their bottom line, not their customers or their reputation.
Very, very, dissatisfied, and will go somewhere else next time, if there’s anything that they haven’t driven out of business yet.

The only game in town, after driving all the mom and pop shops out of business.
On the plus side, it is convenient to have almost anything you need from plumbing supplies to bird food in one spot. And in most cases, the lowest prices.
On the flip side are the grumbly employees, and a lack of brand selection.
I miss being able to buy two screws of one size at the local hardware store!
