The other day I was hungry and not looking to cook, or move for that matter, and I found Twisted Pizza in the phone book. They have a big full page ad with the menu there, so I thought hmm, this placel looks alright. They were friendly on the phone and pretty quick getting my delivery here, but thats where my favorable impression of them stopped. The food was amateurish at best. I ordered two chicken kabob plates, a caesar salad, and some appetizers. You would think with ‘kabob’ in their name that they’d know what a kabob is right? Well, nope. What arrived was sickly orangeish chicken chunks over the worst tasting rice I’ve ever had. How do you screw up rice? Isn’t rice the first thing you learn how to cook? It had a cumin taste that clashed horribly with the taste of the chicken. The two pieces of flat bread were the only edible parts of the meal. When we opened the caesar salad, guess what? That same orange chicken! The ‘caesar salad’ consisted of chopped lettuce that had seen better days, stale croutons, the aforementioned agent orange chicken, and parmesean shavings. Blech! I know you don’t expect much from a place that looks like Twisted Pizza, and maybe their pizza is really good, but I’d avoid it. One good thing I can say about them is that the delivery guy didn’t have change(it was $ 26 and I only had 2 twenties) so he went to the store and got change and delivered it about 30 mins after the food. My change was a delivery I was actually happy to get!!!

The outside is a bit creepy, I am not going to lie, but easy solution – order takeout or delivery and enjoy in the comfort of your own home! I personally think this is the best pizza in Modesto. My first experience with Twisted Pizza, I actually went to the restaurant with my family and ate there. Not bad, and quite impressive that they have a beautiful wood burning pizza oven! Ever since then I have not been so inclined to dine out on Yosemite Ave, but we get takeout. This is what I have concluded to be my favs: *Twisted Greek: Fresh garlic, eggplant, tomatoes, feta, Monterey cheese & herbs *Twisted CA Club: White sauce, herb chicken, Canadian bacon, tomatoes & fresh avocado *Twisted combo: pepperoni, Canadian bacon, salami, sausage, mushrooms, olives & bell peppers. Also try the chicken shish kabob!
