This is the place dealers take their cars when they can’t figure out a problem, these guys are the most knowledgeable guys around so don’t be fooled by the couple of negative reviews coming from people that have no dealership experience. Dealers are just part changes because they get paid by warranty but Kruse/​Lucas tech know how to find the problem and fix it without changing out complete systems.

First time taking my car here, just purchased a Cayenne and was pleased with the service. It was a routine oil change but dave seems genuine and the the staff was helpful.

Finding good, honest, reliable help is one of the most nerve wracking situations I’ve experienced, (right up there with finding a trustworthy doctor and/​or hairdresser!), but the work ethic and desire to make the customer satisfied and happy is what this group is all about. Try ‘em! You’ll be glad you did!

After another shop over-​filled my E320 with oil, AND charged $ 85 for a 5 min reset of a check engine light, I tried Kruse-​Lucas. That was 3 years ago and I’ve been using them ever since. Last visit, my exhaust system needed some major work and replacement. Two things: they charged UNDER their original estimate and significantly LESS than the book estimate. They also did an excellent job.
This is what sets them apart from the dealer and most other shops. I have NEVER had an auto shop lower the bill simply because their mechanic completed the job in less time than what is listed. I’d give you 6 stars for that alone, as there is NO WAY a customer can ever know about the time to fix an item.
All I can do is say thank you to them for excellent work and honesty.
Only feedback I’d give is the waiting room has a little bit to be desired. But I’ll take honesty any day over a leather couch.

Kruse-​Lucas made the huge mistake of replacing one of the 20-​amp fuses on my car with a 30-​amp fuse. I took my BMW in because a 20-​amp fuse kept blowing when attempting to start the car. Instead of finding the short that was blowing the fuse, the technician replaced that fuse with a thicker one, knowing the thicker one wouldn’t blow when starting the car. Of course, car started and continued to stay running, but guess what happened. Because the fuse was too thick (higher-​than-​allowed amperage), the wiring for my thermostat was damaged, and car started to heat up. One problem seemed to be fixed as another one was created.
Not all people know that replacing a fuse with another that has higher-​than-​allowed amperage can cause a fire, and at best, damage the wiring and components associated with that fuse. Because they put the wrong fuse in, the wiring on my thermostat got damaged and my car started heating up just MOMENTS from leaving Kruse Lucas.
This company may have a positive reputation, however, be aware that «reputable» companies are rather afraid of damaging their reputation. If they are unable to find the origin of a problem and repare the vehicle properly, they will be sure to make it «look» like the problem was fixed, and doing so, damage another component on the vehicle.
Thankfully, I know a bit about my car because I know the owner of BTM Motorwerks in San Jose, and am friends with a couple of mechanics that work there. This is how I found the mistake Kruse Lucas made. I immediately contacted Kruse Lucas and they were defensive and didn’t want to make an admission to what the technician did. I am now waiting on a pending decision following the complaints I have filed. I wouldn’t even agree to a one-​star rating, but was required to do so in order for this to be a rating.

We recently went to Kruse Lucas for our Land Rover for brake repair, we had already shopped around locally and no one was sure how to do it but new it would be expensive. I called Kruse Lucas, and they knew immediately what needed to be done and did not charge us an outrageous price. Everyone there was very considerate and welcoming, we will definitely be back with any repairs we may need.

I have brought my Volvo S60 to Kruse Lucas several times now, and every time I have not been disappointed. They are considerably cheaper than the dealer and do excellent work. I always felt like I was being taken advantage of with the dealer, $ 600 every 8000 miles for a service that mostly was just checking items. I have never had that feeling with Kruse Lucas, Jean runs an honest business with pride & a high quality of workmanship.
