Wow… pleasant service… professional expertise… in this day and age… a diamond in a sea of black coal. Here is a simple story to illustrate. My wife works with special kids. Her computer goes on the fritz days before a state review. She consults with pur son in Washington who is an IT guy with Homeland Security. Over the phone after a series of checks he says… Mom.,“you have 2 choices… buy a new one… or it sounds like your memory has gone bad”. I suggest she go to the Geek Squad at Best Buy… This was a bad recommendation. They keep the computer for 24 hours only to tell her they are having trouble running the«diagnostic»…“Check the memory”… says my wife… they finally come back with the grand decision…“must be the memory”… but…“no such memory in Mobile”…she orders it on the internet. but then she tries Port City since we go by it every week when we go to the movies…“sure we have the memory and so does many other places in Mobile” is the reply… So she goes to get the computer… they return it without its power cord. after a hastle they find it… then charge her $ 70.00… the people are nasty… they make her wait… they manage to truly«piss» her off… this is in a store we buy from extensively because their associates(the sales guys on the floor) are knowledgable, professional and a pleasure to deal with. They have an Assistant Manager named Lisa who exemplifies customer service and they pride themselves on return customers. She takes the computer to Port City who replaces the memory… total charge $ 40.00 in about 20 minutes… Wow…I have complained to Best Buy as this atypical for Best Buy but the first time I had ever recommended Geek Squad. The manager John apologized and says it will be fixed. but to be safe… try Port City for your computer needs… simple.honest.knowledgable…and a flash back to the time that a customer mattered… the guy that served my wife is probably one of the nicest guys out there and he evidently is trying to grow his refrral line. He made a good choice in how he dealt with my wife as she has extensive contacts and a network throughout Mobile…
