Bob P.

Business Owner

Bob Palmgren has been involved in many restaurants around Kansas City including the Winds in Lenexa, the Prospect with food consultant Bonnie Winston, Peppercorn Duck Club, Harry Starker’s, EBT, he opened Harrah’s Casino as their food and beverage director, served as a consultant for Jack Stack on 95th Street, and served as the General Manager and Executive Chef of the River Club in Downtown. Bob has always had a love for barbeque! In October of 2003, Chef Bob fulfilled a lifelong dream when he opened the doors to his own restaurant, R. J’s Bob-Be-Que Shack. Chef Bob has been working for more than 25 years to improve and perfect his namesake barbecue creation. In 1982 he entered his first American Royal BBQ Contest. Since then, Team Bob-Be-Que has competed in over 100 contests and received numerous awards. R. J’s is definitely a family business. The restaurant is named after Chef Bobs son Robert Jr. and Chef Bob’s daughter, Angela, is the inspiration behind Angies Salads.
