Dips & Sips

This is a great little ice cream shop locally owned and as fresh flavors all the way around. Not only is it locally on but the ice cream that uses also a local ice cream, they use Belafonte. I would recommend this place– they’re very nice and the ice cream is pretty good too. One of their specialties is a soft serve vanilla ice cream topped off with blueberries and blackberries and strawberries. The combination of the suite in better together is quite interesting and delicious.

I was on my way home from a beautiful walk around Loose Park, when a craving for something sweet set in. I utilized my handy dandy Unilocal app, and found Dips and Sips. I easily found my way to downtown Mission and conveniently parked in front of the ice cream shop. Like others have mentioned, this store is very clean and the employees are very polite. I sampled a couple of ice cream varieties before settling on caramel cone something or other. Ok, I’m not going to lie, I also bought a lemon cupcake for the next day. OK, again, I’m not going to lie, I ate it that night.
The ice cream was delicious, and the «one scoop» order seemed very large. The lemon cupcake was divine! They don’t overdo the frosting here, like a lot of the «commercial» cupcake stores. There was also a surprise dollop of lemon pudding inside the cupcake. It was SO good. If I could eat cupcakes and ice cream more often, I would certainly frequent Dips and Sips!

Friendly neighborhood family ice cream shop. You are always greeted with a smile from everybody who works there. They have ice cream cones, cups, shakes, malts, and cupcakes, pie. You can get ice cream for 2 for $ 5 – 6. Very reasonable.

Just got back from a year in the Chicago area, and my wife and I had to stop by for dessert, despite it being too cold for ice cream. («Too cold for ice cream?» you ask, but it’s true.) I’m pleased to report they have great cupcakes and muffins, and can whip up hot chocolate, too.

Blue Raspberry Swirl! That’s all I have tried the 4 times I came up here. Can’t risk trying something else when I know I like this.

Simple, delicious, and inexpensive the way ice cream should be instead of these overpriced franchises that takes the nostalgia away from eating ice cream. Also, their baked goods is delicious!

This place offers all the past-​time goodies of an Ice Cream parlor long forgotten in this day and age.
It’s a family place. The service is excellent and they make the best milkshake around.
My wife ordered a medium ice cream cone and it came with three scoops.

I was looking forward to trying Dips & Sips for ice cream, but the first impressions after walking in the door kept me from even trying it.
It had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, and no one was there to greet me at the door. I left without trying anything.

Hands down my favorite place to get treats in KC. Carla is as sweet as the confections she sells! First time there, she gave my 2 year old her personal scoop of pink frosting! Like several reviewers, the cinnamon rolls are a must try. In addition, the prices are VERY reasonable. If you love supporting small business, definitely check out Dips & Sips. I don’t see how you can be disappointed. I’ve also had Carla make birthday cakes for my family. I requested a bicycle for my boyfriend. She couldn’t find a bike mold but wound up buying a compact and lipstick mold and turned it into a bike! They are closed on Sundays, but even perfections needs a break

Go there and get the homemade cinnamon rolls. Whooot! They are good and so inexpensive. I dare you to eat the whole thing.
We also ordered homemade pies here for Thanksgiving. $ 10 each for pie of our choice. We went with apple and pecan.
The crust is so good. Wow. You just don’t buy pies with crust that tasty these days. A couple of things that could be improved:
The apple pie filling was kind of weird. It was like gelatin in with the apples. I make my pie differently. It was edible, but had room for improvement. I froze one piece that was left over and it was really great later. I think some of the gel absorbed into the crust or apples.
The pecan pie was overcooked and a little too syrupy. It was tasty, but honestly it was burnt around the edges and anyone could see that. I’m sure she only made mine and didn’t have another one to offer me and I probably should have let her keep it. It tasted pretty good in the center, but the outside edge was kind of like pecan brittle. The filling didn’t set up completely so it was just loose syrup running around when you cut the pie. Not ideal.
I know these sound like pretty big quality issues to still have 4 stars, but even with those flaws, the price of the pies when added to the quality still comes out better than a grocery store pie.
I’ll give the pies another shot. I might just buy individual slices for a bit to try the different options.
I will eat many, many, many of those yummy cinnamon rolls.

My husband and I went for a walk one hot and humid evening. Our reward a trip to Dips & Sips!
I heard someone call into KCUR a couple of Fridays ago and suggested Dip & Sips soft serve swirl. It’s soft serve swirled with a choice of flavors. I had the caramel swirl — small. Goodness! The portion of the small is huge. If the husband and I can agree on a swirl addition (doubtful!) we could split it next time.
They also have a lot of choices of Blue Bell ice cream which they can make into shakes if you want. They sell HUGE (kids baseball glove sized) cinnamon rolls, pies and cupcakes too. I was impressed with the prices of all the items… very reasonable.
The owner helped us and another couple that evening. She was friendly and happy to answer questions about their servings. I love supporting a local business. With that, I will make sure our evening walks are down to Dips & Sips.

Wanted to take a little drive and grab a sweet treat after dinner, and Dips & Sips popped up on my Unilocal mobile app. My son and I shared a banana pudding ice cream cone and my husband ordered a Latte. The ice cream scoop was massive and more than enough to share and my husband enjoyed his latte. Next time we’re trying a cupcake. They looked amazing!
I loved knowing this was a small, local business that cared about its customers and the product they were serving. We will definitely be back!

I am in troooouuuuuble… because I am soon to be living right in the neighborhood of this little gem, which means I will be frequenting it even more than I already do. Ice cream shop within easy walking distance of one’s home? Dangerous. Ice cream shop run by adorably sweet people and with almost ridiculously low prices within easy walking distance of one’s home? Very, very dangerous.
Pop on by this sweet little shop on Johnson Drive, and be prepared to be wowed by the pleasant service… the owner and her employees are just soooo nice, and genuinely appreciate their customers. I have even seen them stay open after their usual close time to accommodate groups, when soccer teams and other kid groups swing by.
They do quite a few different frozen treats, including soft serve with or without flavor burst syrup and different concrete/​blizzard/​flurry concoctions, but I usually just get straight up, hand-​scooped, hard ice cream. They stock Blue Bell*, and have the usual standby flavors on hand, but also change up and rotate specialty flavors fairly often. The most impressive thing is that they are NOT stingy with the dips… even their «mini» size is bigger than the largest size at the Baskin Robbins down the road. They also do gourmet coffees and what I think are in-​house baked goods. And the place is unfailingly SPOTLESS, which is impressive considering that they get a fair amount of traffic and never have a ton of staff working. Keeping things nice is obviously a priority.
Absolutely delightful shop, in every way a shop can be… tasty, nice people, very clean, and very affordable.

This is my neighborhood go-​to ice cream shop. They carry about 20 varieties of Blue Bell ice cream, which change on a regular basis. All of the ice cream, milkshakes, cookies, cupcakes, and cinnamon rolls are tasty. Prices are low to reasonable and service is friendly.

I was in the mood for ice cream at 9pm (I know, bad!). My husband and I came across this place and I really can’t say enough good things about it. The people that work there are very friendly and polite, the prices are very reasonable and the place is very clean.
Since my late night craving, we’ve returned twice. Can’t beat the value or experience. And it’s at least a 20 minute drive for us!
Very Very impressed! We’re probably going to make this our Friday night routine!

This is my all time favorite place to get my ice cream. If I want ice cream and I know it’s open I will drive here to get it.
The prices are so reasonable!!! They have hand scooped and soft served. The have the flavor burst machine which is really neat. It puts flavor on the edge of your soft served and it makes each one a little special.
They also have fresh baked goodies that are awesome. I even bought a whole pie to go.
One of my favorite things about this place is how clean it is. It is a nice place to sit down and enjoy your yummy treat.
If an ice cream is what your looking for… I’m begging you please go give it a try!

What a nice, clean, friendly ice cream shop!
I was in recently on a Saturday afternoon (after having a knackwurst across the street at Werner’s) and was really pleased with my whole experience at Dips & Sips. They serve Blue Bell ice cream, so you know you’re getting quality.
I had Mint Chocolate Chip and my friend had Black Walnut. Each waffle cone had a generous pump of hot fudge included before the ice cream was scooped in. I recommend this place to anyone in the Mission area looking for an ice cream treat!
