The Learning Experience

I think I’m uniquely qualifed to give a fair review of TLE as a parent of two children who attended for 3 years and a parent that’s had experience with some of the other comments posted here. While I can certainly understand that those situations likely happened as we experienced similar behavior across our years of being there, I am here to state that I have respect for Pauline — The owner. The fact is, is that she has a habit of shooting first and rationalizing through it later largely getting it «right» in the end. It’s not pleasant to live through, as she can be all over the map and get quite literally in your face, but it generally blows over. She doesn’t like to be questioned, would much rather be dealing with the kids than the parents, must wear many hats with almost no downtime and has been doing this for decades. I think she can get rundown and would benefit from a break, but she’s just so hands on. Therein creates the problem I think, though it’s no excuse from a business perspective. With all of that being said, isn’t it all really about the kids?
All I ask is that our kids be safe, happy, and learning. TLE encompassed all of that. Every teacher we had — with the exception of Nicole, who is likely the most complained about teacher in the parent circles due to a general perception of lacking as a «teacher» versus anything truly harmful — has been excellent. Ms. Ellie and her staff in the infant room, Ms. Gail and her staff in the toddler room, Ms. Kathleen and Eliesha, Ms. Niesha, Ms. Becky, Ms. Shannon, Ms. Harsha, and Mr. Mike are all above and beyond in the classroom. They are also intensely loyal to Pauline and the school they create as a team. For what could simply be a daycare, Pauline strives to make a school. I didn’t agree with some of her decisions, but understood there was a method to her madness. My wife was lip lashed on numerous occasions when she was 100% right and trying to communicate an issue, but we stayed because it was about our kids.
As a parent, if you take the time to breathe and deal with the various personalities you’ll encounter, you provide your kids with stability, and a sense of security. Our best advice is figure out which parent is better suited to the confrontation and let them communicate with the office. At the end of the day, it’s simply about your kids. Pauline is of that school of thought: She REALLY, DEEPLY cares about the kids. You can’t «buy» caring. Another reviewer stated that Pauline only cares about money — this couldn’t be further from the truth. That person clearly did not see reality — money is definitely NOT what drives Pauline.
At TLE, they will be safe, cared for, and learning *all day long!*. That was our experience in the 3 years we stayed there.

I had 2 school age kids attending this daycare, and although the teachers are great, the front office staff is unprofessional and often not present. I would not recommend this place.

This school get zero stars. My biggest complaint is the director Pauline. Rude unfriendly and does take NO for an answer. All she wants is the money. My 2yr son started her dirty school in September 2014, I live extremely close by and it was very convenient. But with all the problem the director gave me my convenients went to now I need a piece of mind. The large amount of money I was paying her to have her staff watch my son was to much for the none learning experience my child didn’t get. And it amazing how my child was sick all the time he was there. I pulled my child out of this dirty school and my child is no longer sick. My husband went to go pick up our son from school and notice he was wet. My husband began to change he and Pauline yelled at my husband saying what are u doing! This is unsanitary. Now I will have to clean the carpets. Well by the look of the carpets they should have been clean years ago. Now I know why she keeps the lights down in the building. My son is 2yrs and she want to do an intervention on him. And she wanted to put him in speech therapy. I was in aww over her redicilous suggestions. My son is in a new environment and of course his performance will be different from school and home. At home he speaks clear and in complete sentences. But Pauline was not hearing me the parent saying No. I ended up telling her she is an over paid glorified babysitter. This place was a nightmare. My child now goes to school that cares, gives us daily emails and pictures on my sons day. The program/​school he is in now he had learned more in the 2weeks then the 4months at the learning experience. I do not recommend the learning experience. Run from this daycare as fast as u can. Stay away. Take your child and money else where.

My family’s uninterrupted 3 ½ years with The Learning Experience has been flawless! My grandchild has been attending The Learning Experience, starting out in the toddler program, on through Pre-​K, and now does after-​school care. This school has unparalleled leadership expertise and experience in all phases and aspects of Early Childhood Education. Our grandchild, from the onset has been happy and eager attend each day. My grandchild’s parents and I have consistently observed and encountered the warmly welcoming unfailingly attentive and gracious to each child & their parent/​guardian, childhood education savvy team of professionals at this school. This safety & security protocol conscious environment is led by the inimitable education expert, Director Pauline McCall. My grandchild’s social development and academic enrichment experience at the school enabled a flawless transition into kindergarten! We are thankful for this school, which has been a many, many years proven treasure in their community, and feel very fortunate our family discovered The Learning Experience!

I had my child here for about two years and although the care was excellent, unfortunately, the negative reviews about the Director, Pauline are spot on. I unfortunately had to pull my child out of the school because I could not justify paying this woman a cent more for her continuous strange, inappropriate behavior and rudeness. The last straw for me was when she introduced my child to yelling for the first time in her life. After showing Pauline proof on my phone she cashed my check, she surprisingly screamed at me and blamed me for a death in her family, causing my baby to burst into tears. I then just walked out of the office without saying a word and she yelled, «Thanks for the condolences!!» all while my child was inconsolable for her unprovoked, sudden and odd explosion. My girl said, «Mommy, I don’t like Miss Pauline. She’s mean. I don’t want to go back there.» She yelled at me in front of other customers and their kids. My baby was so traumatized by the situation she still mentions it. Although a death is certainly sad, it of course wasn’t my fault and to mention it at all was vastly inappropriate. But this wasn’t the first time. On multiple occasions, she’s put her hands up and refused to listen to me because she had a bad day, she was not in the mood or other things going on in her personal life (which do not belong in a business environment.) These outbursts by her were in response to me calmly trying to address her consistent accounting mistakes (6+ separate times.) Even after she realized every single miscalculation was her fault, she never once apologized. She needs to hire someone up front who has the ability to deal with people, remain professional and is more emotionally stable. If a 3 year old knows a person is out of line, it’s a no brainer. Ironically, this business is supposed to care for children instead of traumatize them and make them cry. There is no acceptable excuse for that.

My daughter had been going here since she was 4 months old. Our parents are back east and all of these lovely women have been like grandparents to her. We couldn’t speak more highly of this daycare. She has do much fun and genually loves her teachers.

My son attended The Learning Experience and was in the infant room. I was so happy and comfortable to leave my infant in the care of Ms. Ellie, Ms Pauline and Ms Jenny while I had to go work. Finding an early education school for your little ones is hard, but I was 100% satisfied with TLE after my extensive research and touring of schools! TLE has qualified staff and most of the teachers have been there for over 10 years. They have a secure check in and check out system and everyone knew my sons name and my name as I walked through the school. Made me feel like I was leaving my son with a family. I was so sad when we moved out of the area… I still have not found an early education school that has made me or my son as happy as The Learning Experience has!
Give them a call and tour the school to see for yourself! Trust in them because they care about you and your little ones!

I would give them no stars if I could. First off, if you’re even considering this daycare RUN!!! Pauline the director is rude and doesn’t care about anything but money. She treats her employees like trash as well as the parents. My child is sick twenty-​four seven since being in this daycare. It is dirty and over priced for what you get! The teachers are wonderful! But Pauline and her daughter are terrible Terrible people!
