One Hour Handyman

I am very pleased by my work done with Onehour Handyman services my remodeled ½ bath it was a clean job an helped me get it done with my budget.
It is beautiful Thank You I love it

Please note any work in excess of $ 600 requires the person performing the job to be licensed and bonded. If you look at the review provided by Chris on Feb 2015, Dean Witter does not hold a valid contractor’s license. I found out this the hard way. Look over the reviews and ask for detailed quote along with scope of work from him before he begins. If he doesn’t provide this on the first meeting — call around.

The realtor said I got it rented — the one hour handyman team once again came to the rescue — all repairs done! We could not be happier! We have used the team for our personal residence — my father’s and our own rental property. They are a professional group — Dean and Terrie take a personal interest in every job that’s done!

Freddy with one hour handyman was so friendly and did a great job at all the handy work he did for me. I called around to at least 5 places and one hour handyman was the only one who would paint for me.
Like what John G said though Be sure you are clear of pricing before they start working so you dont recieve an unexpected bill.

First of all of all the handy men I called Dean was the first and quickest to respond and his quote was way more than fair :) They painted my entire apartment garage including the ceiling and hung up two curtain rods one of which was in stucco out on the patio area And they even went above and beyond and hung the curtains up for me too without me even suggesting or asking! Did I mention the pricing was beyond competitive:) ?? i am extremely happy with the service and the work:). I even tipped them:) keep up the good work guys!

UPDATE: Here’s the short of my lengthy story and others… the state banned this guy from getting a contractor’s license for 5 years in 2011 for a myriad of violations. Makes sense. Don’t just take my word for it, look it up, License 857 389, CA contractor’s page.

I’m researching CA code right now, because these guys and their plumbing contractor combined to form a super team of professional UNexcellence, that hacked in our replacement water heater. Didn’t use right sized drip pan (very undersized), used PVC for drain pipe which is not allowed, heater bracing was so mangled I redid it myself. I read the water heater instructions after the install, the plumber didn’t even follow basic rules. Why did I read it? Because the install looks so third rate. Why do I, the not handy home owner who called for help, know more about the requirements of their work than they do? I read two pages of a water heater manual for heavens sake.
In addition, I asked them twice during quoting discussions to include painting around the new heater. In the end one of the owners, sitting in the van while the handy man worked, argued with me that the painting wasn’t included in the quoted price. I gave them the extra money to get them off my property permanently.
This is the type of work that makes many of us wonder how the world functions. Does anybody have pride in their work? Pride in their brand? Desire to practice their craft to best practices (and legal code)?
Shame on me for not getting the scope of work and estimate in writing.
Speaking of writing, they wrote nothing down when they did the job walk, I should have pulled the plug right then.

Charge my credit card without providing any services. I called them right away to cancel the appointment and this company still charge $ 245 on my credit card. I talked to a real life person to cancel the appointment. I will never recommend this company to anyone. Who charge customer without even providing services !!! unbelievable !!! Now I have to go through my credit card company to get my money back!!’ I will not give up until I get my refund!!! Call them directly and nobody response. I will give them negative stars if I can on Unilocal !!!

WAY OVERPRICED, WILL NOT SEND INVOICE OR ANSWER CALLS/​EMAILS

I hired these guys on Tuesday, ¹²⁄₂₃ to patch some drywall behind my oven and add a small extension to the gas line. The patch was about 3″ square. At the time that I hired them, I made it clear that I would need an itemized invoice to forward to my landlord so that I could be reimbursed for the service, which they assured me would be no problem at all.
When it came time to pay, I thought $ 365 (Freddy had refused to quote me on the price until the work was done) sounded a little insane for something I could have done myself had I had the time (it was the day before Christmas Eve and I had family coming over). However, since my landlord didn’t feel like doing it himself and told me to just hire someone, I didn’t care too much because I knew I would be reimbursed and figured if he had a problem with the price he could take it up with the Handyman himself. We paid over the phone, at which time we once again made it clear that we needed an invoice back to forward with the rent. The woman who took the credit card info over the phone assured us that she would email it immediately.
Big surprise! They sent us a receipt using Square (not itemized, no info but the amount we paid). There is no breakdown of charges whatsoever, basically just a blank screen that says «$ 365» on it. After speaking with someone over the phone who took my email address, leaving additional voice messages, sending several text messages, and sending emails to two different addresses listed for the company, I still have no receipt to show for it and I have to send my rent tomorrow and hope for the best.
***Fun fact! Afterwards, I realized that because Freddy had shut off the gas to put the little extension in the line, the pilot light was out in the heater and in the water heater. The water heater was no big deal, but the heater is super old and was just spewing gas into the house ALL DAY and NIGHT. We all woke up with headaches and realized that the pilot light had gone out and no one had bothered to even tell us to look out for that, let alone relight it. Thank God my kids were spending the night elsewhere that night. Yeah, never using these guys again.

Is it me? All these stars and yet I couldn’t get a phone call back and I never did receive the estimate via email.
He came, he talked, it seemed way too expensive for what I considered handyman type work. He said he would send a breakdown of cost per item to be changed or fixed via email. That never happened!
Why is this business so flakey?! Shame on you for never responding after my numerous phone calls and messages. You not only wasted my time, but I guess I have some satisfaction in that you wasted your time on an initial home-​visit.
Disappointed (one of the few times) in Unilocal reviews leading me to what I had hoped and thought was a reputable business.

I called One Hour Handyman to install a new bathroom exhaust fan. The new fan was installed and working in less than 2 hours. I have used Dean at One hour Handyman many times and have always been satisfied with their work and their prices.

Dean was great and very helpful getting out to my home to repair a wall damaged by a water pipe leak. Drywall and texture is perfect. He was able to send out the crew in 1 hour notice just like the name of his company at a competitive price! Will be using him again for future projects and repairs. Thanks so much! Anna D.

Good job!

Not bad but not great. I thought they were slow and am disappointed in the amount of work that was completed. They put up 3 curtain rods, patched smaller hole in my drywall, did some touch up paint and hooked up my washer and dryer. This took 6.5 hours to complete! I didn’t even get everything I wanted completed. At that rate he would have been there all night.

I read the reviews for One Hour Handyman on Unilocal and Home Advisor and decided to check out their website. I was excited to contact them because of their one hour promise. I have called them at least 5 times and emailed them 4 times trying to get someone to give me a quote. It has been almost 3 weeks and I have yet to receive a quote from this company. I am a first time home buyer and this is the first handyman service that I have ever called. I really hope that I can find someone who will help me with my home improvement projects. I feel very disappointed with the way that One Hour Handyman has handled my request.

Called for some bathroom sink removal repairs and left a voicemail on Friday afternoon. I received a call back that same day and scheduled an appointment for two days later, Sunday morning at 9:00am. Sunday morning rolls around and it’s 9:30 and still no handyman. It was daylight savings that same day so I figured maybe he forgot to set his clock, so I waited. 11:00am rolls around and I call to find out what’s going on and had to leave a voicemail. It is now 7:30pm on the same day and I have not heard a peep back from this handyman. What a waste of a morning and now it is too late to get the work done this weekend by a local competitor.
I hate leaving negative reviews and hope everything is ok with them and if there was an urgent personal issue I will be happy to alter my rating, but as of now I am extremely disappointed!

Well, a puppy chewed up quite a bit of wood which connects my screen door to the house. I wouldn’t want to show that to my landlord. Not only did they originally give me a lower rate then every other quote I received (and I asked every handyman I could find in Orange County), they gave me advice, and proper technique, on how to properly re-​sod my lawn (which I was in the process of during the repairs they conducted to the house). They were extremely personable, and did an exquisite job. Furthermore, they realized that I was doing this for my landlord, and gave me an even LOWER rate. When others quoted me double their price, they conducted themselves professionally and kept me first, the entire time. I will be asking them for business in the future. They’re friggen’ awesome.

I originally was only looking for someone to install three 24″ squares of travertine so that I could put in a new bathroom cabinet.
I tried contacting several different handyman companies I found through Unilocal.Dean from one hour handyman immediately got back to me and sent a guy out the next day. Richard was very knowledgeable and we quickly realized I needed a lot more help than just the tiles. He and Dean and another handyman came out the next day to give me a very reasonable quote for the entire remodel.
They finished my plumbing, put in installation, drywall, textured and painted the drywall, removed my wall mirror, hung my two framed mirrors, moved an outlet to make room for the mirrors, removed my 80s styled bulb track of lights, split the wiring to install two new light fixtures, did the tiling, matched, painted, and added the removed baseboards, installed two faucets, cut discreet holes in my cabinet to allow the plumbing to fit, installed my new cabinet, put on new water lines and shut off valves, set the granite counter top and porcelain sinks, and I’m sure I’m leaving something out (I already had the mirrors, faucets, sinks, counter cabinet, tiles, and light fixtures).
Best part: they had the whole thing completed and cleaned up in two days! Unbelievable! I couldn’t be happier. They even got matching paint and baseboards to give it a complete look.
Okay, so I walked around my house with Richard and talked to him about various items on my to-​do list. He knows home improvement. Just on passing through rooms, he was able to point out issues that weren’t up to code, including problems with my fire protecting garage to house door (which a contractor created the problem a few years back). Even though he has a sharp eye for problems, he never gave me a hard sell whatsoever.
Great customer service and pride in workmanship. Very quick response time to my calls and questions.
Dean came back over to inspect the completed project and I have hired him to redo my closet doors (and several other things). What anice guy. There are some things I can’t afford to hire them to do and Dean was more than willing to give me advice on how I could do those things on my own.
All in all, I’m very pleased and would highly recommend their services. I can’t think of anything these guys couldn’t do. My friends were all impressed with the final project. I’ve posted some before and afterward pics.
It can, however, take them awhile to come back out to fix anything they forgot after they’ve been paid. Check everything carefully. They still have forgotten to pick up a few boards and items left behind from a job they completed months ago. I should’ve checked everything more thoroughly before they left.
