The dentist is typically the last place I want to frequent, on any given day, unless absolutely necessary. However, Dr. Dan always continues to amaze me with his innate ability to comfort those who are a bit apprehensive, including myself. Whenever I need a routine cleaning or any dental work, Dr. Dan is my hero. I always enjoy a hearty laugh and pleasant conversation with him. Not to mention, his choice of music is very soothing while in the chair. I highly recommend Dr. Dan for all your dental needs.

Dr. Cohen was a life saver when I desperately needed a dentist! I had a horrible late night fiasco in which an obnoxious drunk guy offered me a piggyback ride and fell to the ground holding me. My poor face took the full force of the impact onto asphalt and as a result I broke my front tooth and chipped another. At 3:30 am as my sister was searching for a dentist to perform an emergency appointment in order to save my tooth, Dr. Cohen was the only dentist that agreed to see me without having to wait later in the afternoon or on a Monday. He opened the office specifically for me at 4 am on Sunday and when I showed up with a bruised and battered face with missing teeth he consoled and reassured my mom and I that all would be well. I cannot thank Dr. Cohen enough for going above and beyond the call of duty to help me salvage my broken tooth and repair the chipped one. I took pride in my teeth and my smile was something everyone would compliment me on and thanks to Dr. Cohen I still have a pretty smile.

Dr Cohen is a man of integrity and great skill, but most of all, he’s a real person… caring and considerate. The one thing you’ll notice is that while admittedly, dentistry, like most medical care is a very «get what you pay for» proposition, Dr Cohen will tell it like it is without seeing you as a money pit like so many other dentists do. He’ll only tell you what is necessary and what really needs attention or care. He wants a long term and trusting relationship with his patients, and believe me, he EARNS it.
You won’t be able to help yourself. … you’ll love this guy.

Daniel Cohen, DDS, is an exceptional dentist and I simply will not go anywhere else for my dental needs. I have tried other dentists in the past and they cannot compare to the quality of treatment I receive from Dr. Cohen. Moreover, the staff at Dr. Cohen’s office is extremely friendly and caring and are far superior to the staff I have encountered at other dentists offices. I absolutely recommend Dr. Cohen for all of your dental needs!

My family has been going to Dr. Cohen for over 20 years and his work has always been the best I’ve ever experienced. He’s always taken great pride in his knowledge and skill. Dr. Cohen’s communication and interpersonal skills are also top notch – and the same goes with his staff as well. Great with any age patient. When working on your teeth, you want someone who knows what he’s doing and wants to get it right. Cohen is definitely that kind of professional.

This guy is a crook. DON’T ever call him for after hours care. He charges almost 400 dollars just to SHOW UP, then tacks on every fee possible to run the price up. He tried to do a root canal in the office. I told him no, and I’m thankful I did! I went to a regular dentist and my bite was slightly off, which is what was causing my pain. Dr. Cohen (If you can even call him a doctor) tried to talk me into paying him almost $ 2000 because I was in pain, when I DIDN’T even need the work. Crook. He is a CROOK.

Dr. Daniel Jeffrey Cohen, DDS, Inc.‘s office in Mission Viejo is a wonderful place to get your teeth treated! I know him to be a gentle professional who honestly treats you with respect and a high level of dentistry skill and experience. He listens to the patient and performs all necessary care very professionally. My teeth are looking good, thanks to Dr. Cohen! He appreciates excellent cosmetic dentistry and gives his all to provide it to his patients in an understanding way.

I haven’t been to the dentist, according to Dr. Portnoff’s files, since 2003. Yikes. Dentist-​o-​phobia. Due to tooth pain, I went in, fearing the worst. Given the volume of tartar and plaque coating my teeth, Dr. Portnoff was exceedingly gentle! He offered me novocaine gel, and took his time cleaning my teeth off, despite my disgruntled moans. He explained things to me simply, gave me a couple samples of toothpaste for sensitive teeth, floss, and a Colgate brush with his name printed on it, and made me an appointment for next week to fill in a cavity. I can’t recommend this fellow enough– his head nurse/​receptionist is his wife, and they are so sweet and kind and gentle!
Not to mention– best of all– my gums haven’t bled at all since I went to see him.
I have a genuine phobia of visiting the dentist (something about the noise of metal against enamel), but visiting Dr. Portnoff makes me sweat a little less.
