Breakfast is amazing! The food is fresh, hot, and ready to be devoured. Golden Krust represents with their traditional Jamaican breakfast, from achee and salt fish, to green banana, to fried dumpling, plantain, boil dumpling, cod fish & callaloo. The list goes on and on. The great thing about it is you might just find a Golden Krust near you. They are a franchise so check your local area for one. There was a bit of a wait this morning, with a long line full of hungry customers. It was worth the wait because the food was SO good. The service wasn’t bad either. We grabbed a couple of drinks to wash the food down. One was a pineapple ginger which was absolutely delicious and the other was a sorrel ginger. Now if you know sorrel and enjoy it and also like ginger, this drink is for you. The two together is amazing.

Golden Krust is commercial Jamaican style dishes but the Chef at this location is exceptional. I’ve had escovich snapper, jerk chicken, oxtail, and the stew chicken; the dishes are all excellently seasoned and very flavorful. They also serve curry chicken and curry goat on most days. They have a lunch menu which has great value discounting price to a smaller portion. The service is good once you get to know them. this is a very busy location and the line is often out the door for lunch and dinner. The staff handles this volume well. You can call in advance and ask if a specific dish is available(ex: ackee & salfish or whole snapper).

The food is good but, this place has always had issues with poor customer service. I ordered cocktail parties and told them the time I would pick them up. I had to pre pay, and then when I arrived, I still had to wait 15 minutes, making me late for my next appointment. When they realized their error, they didn’t even offer a soda or snack while I waited. I ended up waiting 25 minutes in total. At the end, the gave me four extra cocktail patties. Maybe someday Caribbean businesses will learn to improve their customer service skills. While waiting without soda or a snack to keep me busy, I had time to write this review.

My only compliant about this place is why is the cashier touching are utensils with their bare hands after touching cash??? I’m not a germaphobe,(sorry about spelling) but it’s un sanitary and disgusting. Invest in utensils that come prepackaged and your fine!

This place is a hidden gem! My boyfriend wanted Caribbean food and brought me here for the first time. The place is clean, bright and very welcoming. The servers were very friendly and they gave very generous portions! I tried the curry chicken and it was very good. The chicken was super soft and fell off the bone. It was spicy but not overpowering and very flavorful. The cabbage it comes with was ok. I could do without it. I also tried some of my boyfriend’s brown stew chicken and it was super flavorful and delicious. We also had two patties, spicy beef and curry chicken. The crust is delicious and they were both really yummy! I would recommend you grab a few. Another bonus is that they have the soda I love Ting, a grapefruit soda

I like this place for a few reasons… it’s always so neat and clean and the people are nice and polite. I always go there for the vegetarian lunch special for $ 5.99. You get curried veggie chunks, rice of choice(white rice or rice & peas), cabbage, and sweet plantains and it tastes really good. I truly appreciate that they offer vegetarian options but it makes a lot of sense because so many Jamaicans are vegetarian. I also will typically get a vegetarian patty as well to take home and munch on later. The veggie patty has a different outer crust than your non vegetarian patties and is stuffed with a spicy, delicious cabbage and other veggie blend. I’ve always been a huge fan of Jamaican food and when I became vegetarian, I thought Jamaican food would be out of the question but I’m happy to say, I can still enjoy the same traditional curry, and spices that I became accustomed to. So happy that this place isn’t too far from home!

Lets get some nom noms. Something that we can’t get in Houston. Hmmm, Unilocal reviews aren’t helpful here are they? What is this Golden Krust place I keep passing up? JAMAICAN!?! Oh yeah! Meat patties are cheap and yummy. Oxtails are tender, seasoned perfectly, and fall off the bone. The ladies have the authentic Jamaican accent(good sign). Its like a Jamaican party in my mouth. No, that isn’t what she said so don’t go there. Jerk chicken is also delicious. I’m really glad I decided to stop in. Can someone please bring this franchise to Houston?

They have a very nice staff. A wide selection of good items, including bun and cheese and other Jamaican favorites. One negative is that they don’t have condiment packets, so if you are taking your food, to-go, you will have to squeeze the ketchup into mini containers yourself. It is also a small restaurant, so if you plan to stay and eat. Try to go there when it may not be in the middle of lunch or dinner time.

I come here every week. I’ve had breakfast(callaloo and cod fish as well the mackerel) as well as dinner(larger fried chicken, curry chicken, BBQ chicken, brown stew chicken). Great service and great portion sizes. I share the large dinner with my spouse which is a great deal at $ 10.

I ordered a small curry chicken meal on a Saturday around 3 pm. There were about 10 people in line but I got served pretty quickly in a bout 5 minutes. I had cabbage instead of rice and it was good, but I would not say the seasonings are the best. It is really a «bland» curry but it is better than nothing. The plaintains were over cooked but the cabbage was yummy. Cost was $ 7.15 and it lasted for two meals.

Good Jamaican food. Good for a quick lunch. Big line all the time I’ve gone. Beef soup is my favorite dish at this place.

Great spot for some quick«real food». The Jerk Pork is A+ and the Cod Fritters are insane! Not the best for patties.

Yup, pretty great. I’ve gotta say usually when I go I’m in and out which is great even during its lunch rush this time was no different the boyfriend and I went during our 60 minute piece of paradise we are allowed from work. Only thing is as I ordered my brown stew chicken the girl serving my dish was pretty rude she asked me what were my side orders with her back turned and then scoffed when i couldnt hear her… seriously, attitude adjustment? anyway, the manager saw that she was two seconds away from getting on my ignorant side and finished packing up my meal while apologizing for her behavior. I knew I always liked the manager. I’ll be back of course!

I found myself way out west the other day at that weird time of day between breakfast and lunch, so I stopped in at Golden Krust for a Jamacian beef patty. Looking at the menu, I can’t imagine eating a full meal here — I’m not a big fan of curry or jerk — but the patties were delicious. This place definitely lived up to it’s name — the crust was the best part! The patty was under $ 2, so it made for a quick, filling, cheap snack. All of the desserts also looked equally nom-licious… I’ll have to stop in for some next time!

I have tried Golden Krust a couple of times and enjoyed the Curry Goat. However, tonight I was disappointed as they have reduced their portion-size. What was usually served as a small is now being served as a large. It was not worth the price. Come on now. everyone knows that curry goat is mainly bones… but for $ 12. Really? Don’t for minute believe that customers are not aware of the downsized portions. My two cents.

I’ve tried Golden Krust before and the food was rather disgusting. So I went into this one with caution. I’m not a fan of chain restaurants for certain cuisine. But the food here was good this time around. I ordered a large curry goat with rice and peas, steam veggies and plantains. Spicy and delicious. I wanted white rice, but they didn’t have anymore. This is understandable since they were closing soon. The other downside was that for a large, I thought there should have been more meat. I’m not a big rice eater, so more eat would have made my day. Lastly the customer service was on point. That was something I wasn’t expecting. I plan on returning and trying other specialties and even their patties.

In a part of town where fast food either means Panera, Subway or McDonalds — Golden Krust was a very welcome change. I love that we’ve now got a new«genre» of food in the area. You know you’re in a good spot, when everyone else in line is obviously a regular who knows exactly what everything on the menu means. They’re patient and let you ask questions about the different dishes, but once you’ve got your favs, it’s a quick trip for a hot, home-cooked-tasting meal. On my first trip, I wasn’t too hungry so I only grabbed a few beef patties(they’ve got all sorts of fillings and spice-levels)… but they definitely hit the spot! Make sure to grab a Jamaican soda to go along with your meal. :)
