UYE: Everyone Loves Chili In December III

Thanks to Chad & Denise for opening up their home and welcoming everyone for the event! Even though me and David were running late, we still made it in time to get in on the tasting of the chilis.
We enjoyed having the chance to socialize in a laid-​back atmosphere with our fellow Unilocalers! Congrats to Pourina for the big trophy win and Danielle for the runner up spot. Looking forward to next year’s competition! :-)

Once again Chad & Denise were the super gracious hosts of what is rapidly becoming a Charlotte Unilocal tradition. This year Pourina took the trophy with a spicy beef chili that left us scraping the bottom of the crock pot. There was plenty of chili to go around though and several designer blends were made, some including all 7 chilis.
Assuming there is a 4^th annual El Cid next year, anyone who loves good old-​fashioned Unilocaly fun should definitely come out. Anyone could be next year’s chili champion.

This was my first El Cid event and my first attempt at showing off my chili cooking skills. We can thank the Food Network for the recipe.
There were 7 different kinds of chili today featuring beef and turkey varieties with wonderful flavors and various spice levels.
Pourina took the top honors in the heated competition with Danielle P being runner-​up.
Now that I’ve seen the competition, I’ll know what to expect for next year. Be afraid everyone, be very afraid!
