Sheraton Minneapolis West Hotel

Clean, very comfortable beds and pillows. Friendly staff. Definitely will stay here again.

Quiet, cozy, and quick access to the Ridgedale Mall. The rooms are quite large for a normal rate. In some cities, it would qualify as the «Extended Room.»
For work, this is an ideal location for me. The VIP Room is always supplied with goodies. I make multiple trips for the spicy trail mix, and the Server is always working their butt off during breakfast and happy hour.
No cost for parking, and there’s also plenty of it. I’ve been to the other Sheraton in Bloomington, and I’ll never make that mistake again.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights while visiting Minneapolis. I wouldn’t say it exceeded our expectations, but it easily met them. It was affordable, CLEAN, and accessible to where we needed to go. There is some shopping right down the road — Macy’s, Nordstrom, etc.
The room itself was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Wifi access was free and decent, and you can upgrade (for a cost) if you wanted to.
Breakfast was not included in our stay and it cost $ 15 for one meal. The bar was nice and big, although on Sunday night (after a few wedding parties had stayed at the hotel) they were out of two of the wines I ordered. But the bartender was very nice and found other wines that were similar.
The heated pool and hot tub are a nice feature. One of my favorite parts of this hotel is that upon entry, there is complimentary fresh fruit-​infused ice water. Nice touch!
If you’re looking for a clean, no-​frills place to stay in Minneapolis, I would absolutely recommend this Sheraton.

I was here for a work event, and was pleasantly surprised with their updated guest rooms. Don’t let the exterior (or lobby) fool you!
As with almost all Starwoods, the beds are delightful. I’m not sure if these are the Heavenly beds or not, but I slept like a rock.
Side note — they still have Starbuck’s Africa Kitamu coffee! It was discontinued a while ago by Starbucks, but some Starwood properties still have it in the guest rooms and for banquet functions. Yahoo!

Keep in mind that I booked a suite on the 4^th floor where the club lounge is located. There’s only one thing that I’d consider as a 4 star hotel feature – the beds. They were somewhat presentable, but extremely comfortable. I’d rank them as the best beds I’ve slept on. However, the rooms weren’t quite in immaculate condition. The floors weren’t completely vacuumed and I could spot dust building up below and behind the beds. The room was plain and simple. Nothing stood out or made it a luxurious experience. I did like the many outlet ports though. I could hear every kid playing in the pool area on the first floor during the day, but didn’t notice much in the rooms beside me.
The club lounge was quite useful. I’d consider it more like a bonus than a feature/​attraction. Ultimately, it’s pretty cool to be able to grab a juice or a fruit on the way out or in. Breakfast was good enough.
The location is probably at least 15 minutes away from any location located downtown. As I drove, I kept on telling myself how much more convenient it would be if I booked one of many hotels along the way. However, it’s right next to a mall so the location of this hotel could be useful to some.
Lastly, the front desk were friendly, but not entirely inviting – the same goes to the «greeter». The club lounge person that was controlling the breakfast time was awesome. Wish I could put a name to him. But yeah, this hotel was just «good-​enough.» I’ve had many 3 star hotels that completely wow’d me more than this supposedly 4 star Sheraton for a lower price.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The outside of this hotel underscores its inner beauty! The hotel has a large parking lot and is right across the street from the mall, and near several very good restaurants. The inside of the hotel is very nice and has an inside circle of rooms that circle a restaurant and wireless lounge near the front desk at the ground floor.
The hotel also has a pool and an exercise room.

Funeral for the weekend. Needless to say it wasn’t the best time. and of course I made the dumbest mistake of booking the wrong night to avoid the snowstorm when I was in northern MN.

or Sheraton. Luckily, things turned around a bit.
I got a good deal off
again but what tipped it over was the excellent service from Sara and another front desk staff (lady with brunette curly hair worked ²⁄₁₇ morning). They helped make my stay a bit more relaxing and less stressful and I got a good night sleep to prepare for my full day trip home.

Good place to stay overall. I’ve stayed here many times and it’s pretty much what you expect from a Sheraton. It’s definitely not new, but pretty well maintained. The beds are really comfortable. My only gripe is the internet. It was unreliable and really slow. It shouldn’t be that difficult to provide fast, reliable wifi, but a lot of hotels have this problem and this is a perfect example.

This hotel was a good place to stay. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, with low lights and low volume. We did not use the pool, but the pool area and hot tub looked very inviting. I did not like the pillows that were used and did not get a great night’s sleep in the bed. The thermostat was not working correctly when we were there and we were told that it might be a hotel-​wide issue, which I’m hoping they were able to get fixed. I would stay here again when coming to town for football, but hope that they step up their game just a little bit. I got a very strange vibe from the staff, which made me feel strange. This hotel could get 5 stars from me if they made some small improvements.

this review is for only the Sunday Brunch. We are hosting a Sunday Brunch so we have been trying several in the area. Brunch was $ 14 per person so not bad price wise IF the food is good. Best part of the brunch was the fresh fruit, small selection but fresh, ripe and nicely chilled. Now the rest. The eggs were dry, had no taste and was cold. The egg white dish was runny and looked like it already been eaten. They tried to make a potato and chorizo bake but the chorizo had no spice and the potato’s were limp, my 12 year old who does not like spice actually added pepper to it. The bacon was limp and undercooked and the sausage was bland. This brunch was a wreak. I travel a lot and have had several free breakfasts that were worth more. The Sheraton should be ashamed of charging $ 14 for this and should really be embarrassed of the quality of the food.

The room: Stained mattress; stained carpets; dirty walls. The location: If you like to walk around to check out your surroundings, don’t stay here. Other minuses — $ 10 daily internet fee, no airport shuttle, «complimentary» shuttle (w/​I 5 miles) doesn’t run on Sundays. I wouldn’t stay again.

I’ve been here for 4 banquets where my wife has received an award.
All four times, the experience has been great.
The banquet rooms are clean and well staffed. The lighting and sound are both very good. Appetizers are always fresh and tasty; bartenders are knowledgeable and efficient.
Food is great– I’ve had several choices, and when doing a banquet for 250+, things can go awry quickly. Never had that happn here. The food has always been hot, fresh and better than the «rubber chicken» typical banquet fare. Super cheerful banquet staff too.
The location is nice and hidden a bit; the lobby interior is neat, especially at night. The rooms are on a few levels with the doors facing toward the common area. The lights are low; it’s very comfortable and serene.

We stayed in a regular king room with two dogs (~35 lbs each– I think their dog policy is two dogs up to 80lbs). They didn’t charge extra for the dogs and they had a nice outdoor area (not fenced) with poo bags. The front desk manager was really nice and worked with us because we had a really questionable schedule.
There is a nice pool area, workout room, hotel bar, restaurant, and a convenience store thing. The building is also very big and open. The room was clean, minus some black stains on the sheets and a massive herd of dust bunnies under the bed. The bathroom was nice and large. They also give you a $ 5 restaurant gift card for not using housekeeping each day, which was enough for both of us to get breakfast one day (the food is quite expensive but it is good, and with the vouchers its awesome). The breakfast buffet is also really good, and contains almost all their menu items, for $ 13.
It’s also right across the street from Ridgedale Mall which has all the normal stores you’d expect from a mall (macys, Sears, pennys, then all the mall stores). Also Target and Byerlys (groceries) are within walking distance too. There’s also a couple of restaurants near by. Sears also has an auto-​repair center steps from the hotel which I found extremely useful and necessary at the time.
The negatives:
We also requested a minifridge and that was sent up within a few hours of check-​in. Unfortunately it was delivered by a little old lady from housekeeping, easily 75 years old, toting this fridge that’s almost as big as her, on a dolly. If I would have known they were sending my grandma up, I would have been more than happy to pick it up at the desk. Yes I realize its «her job»…but the hotel should recognize guests wouldn’t want their own grandma struggling with this thing either, it just looks like they don’t care or realize her age. I would be shocked if there wasnt a young man from maintenance that could have dropped it off. I felt terrible.
Also, while working out in their gym (which is pretty decent for a short stay) three dripping wet kids from the pool came in to use the gym as a playground. I went to the front desk, who didn’t really seen to care, and said they’d «send someone down to shoo them out» but 15 minutes later, everything was drenched and the kids were still running a muck.
The hot tub also gets FILTHY over the weekend– I only saw them clean it once on Monday… I’d honestly avoid the hot tub. Yuck. There’s chunky floaters and cloudy water… look close before getting in.
They also charge $ 10 a day for internet… really? This is a huge hotel occupied by business people. I think hotels used to charge for internet 7 years ago? Gouging.
The only other issue I had was in this giant hotel (we had been there for a good week already) on a Tuesday (low low low occupancy) they put people in the adjoining room, who were obviously making a gourmet meal in their bathroom at 4:30am. In the giant empty hotel, they had to put new people smack on top of us. Literally this was a day of pushing 20% occupancy. Why? Those adjoining doors convey noise like a microphone– try to request a room without an adjoining door!
Tips: poolside rooms get loud with children swimming by 7am on the weekends even though the pool hours are later.
The office won’t do anything about wild children AT ALL, so try to stay on the western side of the building, non-​poolside.
Adjoining rooms have a metal door that amplifies noise like crazy. Unless using adjoining rooms, avoid these.
I would definitely stay here if I was traveling with my dogs again.
They also had the best wheat toast I’ve ever had, ever. I would go back just for the wheat toast.

I travel 500K miles a year mostly International, and found these rooms are extremely large with comfortable beds. What we liked was the bar! Cozy, quiet some nights and lively other nights. What surprised us was they offered local wines (and beers) including Wine Flights! We tried Minnesota Flight No. 1 that included 3 red blends including Cab Franc, Sangiovese, and a Zin. Craig worked the nights we were here and was pleasantly friendly and accommodating in answering our questions about the local brews.
We’d order food in the bar for dinner and then relax after busy days — had an enjoyable 4 day getaway from our home in San Diego. Cheers.

Pros: Comfortable beds; nice breakfast in platinum guest lounge; ridgedale mall across the street
Cons: It’s outdated, dark, and kind of depressing; your clothes are likely to smell musty when you check out; no covered parking/​not enough parking in general

Got this one for a good deal on one of the Internet booking sites last minute, like the plan for the trip. Over all a nice and clean hotel nice rooms and the service was good. I did not eat here so I know nothing about the restaurant. The inside does not match the outside at all. the layout is much different then we expected, and had some trouble finding our room.
I would have to say it was a nice hotel, in a good location for what we were doing, I was going between 3 and 4 stars for this one, however there were a few minor thing that occurred that made me decide on the rating of three. Lastly my biggest pet peeve is why are you paying for intranet, at these big chains it feels like they are gouging you for that little bit extra in profits.
In the end depending on the trip and price I could see us staying here again.

What you want is a comfy bed, and nicely furnished room; exactly what you get at this hotel.
I travel quite a bit, about 100k miles a year. I have seen many hotels, and rooms, so I have perhaps seen it all. Looking at the outside of this hotel, it looks small, and walking in, it has an slightly older feel, however, the little things, like the internet terminals in the lobby, and room itself, help this property stand out.
Most people don’t care about anything, but the room; and the rooms here deliver on quality and feel. They don’t any weird aromas, and the bed, is firm, yet comfortable. I was in a standard guest room, single king; and I was surprised by the 37+inch television in the room; included are two nice chairs, and a desk, with soft lighting lamps around the room.
The only complaint, is the early hours the kitchen closes, I would rather have liked to see longer room service hours, but I guess it’s not bad that there are restaurants nearby which are open later.
I would definitely come back, but I’ll be sure to eat out, if I’m working late.
