Health Foot Spa

I was excited to see the room set up much like the massage places I went to while in Thailand as those were the best massages of my life.
I purchased the combo massage which is foot and neck/​back. It started in the open area of the room where my foot massage was done. The low futon chairs were uncomfortable when flat but I asked for the back to be raised up and found much more comfort. The foot massage was excellent, very relaxing and thorough.
Then I was directed to undress in the private massage area. This was a table in a draped off room. She asked how I would like the massage and I said, «medium» for the depth of the massage. This massage was far from medium. I found myself in pain often and expressed that it was too hard. Unfortunately, the masseuse did not speak English well enough to understand my pain. I am already started to see bruising on my back 12 hours after my massage. If I were to return I would certainly not get a back massage but rather just a foot massage.
The other three in the party I went with had other workers and enjoyed their massages much more then I did. They found they were listened to with regard to depth and pressure.

Went there with a GroupOn that had expired, after calling them and being assured that the GroupOn would be honored at full value. What a mistake. The GroupOn face value was $ 35 and the one-​hour reflexology was supposed to be $ 39 according to the sign on the door, so I expected a bill for a few dollars and I planned to leave a nice tip. After the session I was billed for $ 75 and only credited $ 25! What a rip-​off. The massage therapist spoke almost no English; there were 3 beds in a room with zero privacy (not even curtains between the beds), and they had to call someone since I obviously had questions about the bill. The reflexology session was indistinguishable from a normal massage, except in full clothing minus my socks.
Never again.

I will start this review by stating I have never written a review online, however I felt I must report my horrible experience! I am not so picky about massages, but there were several things that happened today while I received a massage. First, my feet were soaked in a bucket lined with a plastic garbage bag filled with luke warm water. I was instructed to sit on a low bench while my shoulders were massaged and feet soaked, (not the most comfortable position to be in). I then laid down face up on a massage table and while he was massaging my feet he kept pausing, and when I looked to see what was going on I found him to FALLING ASLEEP WHILE HE WAS MASSAGING! He would doze off and pop back up and this happened for about 10 minutes!!! He also suffered from horrible breath! When I finished he told me their credit card machine was not working and they wanted me to go to a atm for cash across the street. The massage was not great at all, I’m super sore. I would not recommend at all. You’re better off going to the shop at Ridgedale. One more thing… he was the only one there so every time the door opened or phone rang he left me to tend to that!

Really un satisfying. I love Chinese foot massage places. Usually convenient and really good and a great value. This one is off. My masseuse alternated between annoying and tickley, neither of which I appreciate in foot massages.

I want to warn people out there that this could be a lot different then what you were thinking. The treatment I received was quite aggressive and I have been very ill for three days now. I am just able to get up and walk around today after being in bed all weekend with strong headaches and throwing up. I get regular massages so I wasn’t expecting this. I went through a very aggressive detox and there was no warning about that possibly happening, actually there was no health or evaluation form to fill out that usually lists possible side effects or complications. I just wanted to put this out there because this may not be for everyone. I was sad I lost my whole weekend (perfect MN fall weekend) nursing myself back all because I decided to use a groupon.

Ahhhhh, I feel more relaxed just talking about this place.
For me, the location is perfect — close to home and work. It is tucked away in the back end of a strip mall off Cedar Lake Road, you wouldn’t know it was there unless you happened to be at the neighboring Lone Spur restaurant. Parking is plentiful and free (always a plus for me).
English is not the first language of anyone that works here, listen carefully and you will be fine. The gal at the front desk speaks well and clearly, I would say the majority of the therapists do not speak more than a few words of English.
The room is not private, it is set up as two beds, a curtain, two beds a curtain… so use your inside voices, be courteous of others enjoying their massage.
They use a lot of pressure here, sometimes it hurts, but if it consistently hurts be sure to let them know to ease up on the pressure. They start with your neck/​shoulders and move to your feet/​legs, then to your back/​arms. I am super ticklish and had no problem letting them rub my feet, they use enough pressure that it isn’t bad. Though I do admit, there was a time or two I wanted to start laughing and rip my foot out of their hand when it came to any touching of the toes. Everyone does it a little bit differently, but for the most part you receive the same experience each time.
Tips for when you visit:
–wear loose clothing
–wear pants that can be pulled up over the knee
–wear a tank top, the spaghetti straps for best access to neck/​shoulders
–pull your hair up/​back for access to your neck shoulders
–don’t be shy, tell them if you need more/​less pressure
–bring cash for a tip, you can leave it with the gal at the front desk
–relax and enjoy!

What great massage,
My husband and I had 1 hour reflexology massage at an introductory price under $ 50 each with tip! This was a very forceful massage on the verge of too much, but really was the best massage I have had, my feet feel great, my body feels great. highly recommend this for those not too sensitive to pressure.
Next time I will wear looser clothing and remember a hair elastic.
