Gold Nugget Tavern & Grille

Such a great little spot. Waitress was very accommodating. She was not upset that it took us a while to order while we were catching up. They had two amazing sounding burgers that were supposed to be going head-​to-​head in a contest. Lots of really good appetizers. We chose the pretzel. Amazing beer cheese. Would recommend as a meeting spot or just your regular place to grab a quick bite and drink. More casual not super fancy but just right for a low key meal.

The chimichurri burger was lit! Unfortunately they don’t offer it anymore. I like that they offer hop slam on tap. Great beer with a very high alcohol content. If you’re into that.

Great burgers and fries. There are always a lot of younger people watching sports but we like bringing the family with grandson as they are very accommodating to him and it’s loud enough. Great-​grandma likes it, also – prefers the sliders! We always get reservations.

This was my first time visiting and it will be my last! Mediocre food! I ordered chicken wings and when they were served they were not warm and had a weird freezer burn taste!
Our server kept telling us how she had gotten in trouble by previous customers for not telling them what came with the food on the menu. Due to this she was extra anal and would ask us 3 times if we were sure about our order.
You could tell she had a rough night and did not really want to be there.
She did not exhibit a warm and welcoming feeling at all.
This place is a bit overpriced so I would expect excellent service which I did not receive.

So we swung in here for a burger and some curds. It was Friday around 6’ish, and it was butts to nuts packed. At least a 40 minute wait for a table unless you could find some stools at the bar, which we thankfully did.
Service left something to be desired. But, it was crazy busy, and I can understand that, to a degree.
Order the curds, which were really good when they came out. There isn’t a house dipping sauce to these, but, they were still good without. Very light batter, decent flavor on the batter but really good salty cheese flavor.
Burgers were a total meh. I had some special burger that had braised beef mixed in with the patty, bacon, and these awful onions that were nearly raw. But they were soaked in a sauce that made them raw, very strong, and very slimy. Oh joy! As I look over the menu, I’m not even finding it on their now, so? Anyway, nothing about the burger worked. The flavor of the sauce with the onions didn’t work at all with the patty or the bun, or the cheese.
The woman had her breakfast burger (custom burger) which was meh. Very dry patty, over cooked bacon and an egg. Yippee! She had half of it and conceded.
Best part of the meal in the cramped bar was the curds and my sweet tater fries. The place was bookmarked, and with us heading that way in going to Scream Town, why not? Well… that’s why not.
Won’t make another trip here, even if I’m in the area or heading that way.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. With the name I was a little nervous but I actually like the place. Enough TV’s for sports fans but not so many that I saw one every place I looked. TV“s in restaurants usually annoy me since I can’t not look at them. This place did a great job of striking a good balance.
I had a Moscow mule to drink. it was a tad on the sweet side but still really good. Then I had the cheese crusted grilled cheese. Oh boy was this good. Decadent and I felt a little like Fat Bastard after eating it but it was tasty. The kitchen forgot to add my tomato to it which I think would have cut some of the richness from the heaps of cheese but no biggy. My love affair with cheese will not be challenged by a mere cheese crusted grilled cheese!
The service was great too. Attentive without being overly so. I’d come back. In fact I will come back because the server had me jonesing for their mac and cheese with pico de gallo added. Nice to find a non-​chain restaurant in my new hood.

Awesome place. They bar tenders can be a little slow at times but the food is miraculous. Try the chili! Oh my mamamia mamamomo is it good. It’ll blow your socks right off into your wife’s drink. A+

Went there 3 times now. Food looks great but is always cold. Service is hit and miss too. One thing I can add… this review is about 6 months old. I went there over the winter a few times.

Great Burgers, Unique Burgers, and a fun atmosphere… Not a «cheap night» but reasonable prices!

Went for lunch the other day. We both had burgers. Very juicy and large. I had onion rings and they were fabulous! The dressings are homemade and the beer cheese dip is amazing.
Only complaint is the prices don’t reflect lunch prices. 11.50−12.50 $
Service was quick, place clean and busy.

Burgers are good but not great, and way overpriced. Still a great neighborhood bar. Chili is also good.

We were urged to go here for the cheese curds, and we did. However, we found the other choices on the lunch menu just as worthy to stop here. The Crispy Chicken Salad was yummy with a bite. My friends had the classic Reuben and Nugget Chili and were very happy.

Bar food, but still really tasty. My husband always partakes in their burger battle and had one of the best burgers he’s ever experience (I think it was the rib meat burger). Great beer selection, including their own Amber ale, produced by Shell’s, which is also a cheap option at about $ 3 for a pint.
Had an avocado shake one time, it was a wonderful surprise. Who would have thought avocado and ice cream would work together? They do!

Disappointed. Service was slow. Bartenders walk by us multiple times without stopping. It wasn’t busy (7 people at the bar, 3 bartenders).
They were all over the regulars. This seems to be pretty consistant. One regular dominated the bartenders time. He tried to be nice, but couldn’t shake her. This didn’t help!
Food was ok. 20 some beers on tap. Really didn’t have anything to get excited about.

SO GOOD! Great service! Friendly staff. Burgers? C’Mon! You can’t find any better. And the best? Their amber beer brewed by Schells… it was the cheapest one and tasted the best! Love this place! Oh… and make sure to get the hand cut fries. They are very good!

I’ve been here 3 or 4 times now and every time I leave feeling unsatisfied. The food is mediocre and and there’s nothing on their menu that really excites me. The servers are really attentive though and provide good customer service. However, if you’re looking for a place with great food, keep looking!

Fun dive bar in an area where there are not many! Fair prices, good beer selection, awesome cheese curds, fun waitress staff and bartenders, good location, good parking! I always meets my friends there — and I have to drive up from Shakopee! It’s that good. Recommend to anyone in the Minnetonka area looking for a «dive bar» type place.

Not sure how I give a review unbiased as a regular, but the staff here are some of the best people I’ve met. The team that consists of the engine that runs the Gold Nugget is amazing. They hate to disappoint. They hate to perform in any way less than par. Nights on the weekend are busy, but the kitchen and the service try to stay in sync. There are disconnects, but never on purpose. These are real people who love to deliver service to anyone. As a regular, I’ve consistently experienced regular people who love where they work. Service and creative specials combined with a truly solid menu is what you walk into, causing a brief overload of the senses, leaving you all but satisfied. Leaving, one can only not help but feel the need to return… once your belly is good and ready for it!
Ask for the burger of the week and ask your server for a beer that compliments it. You won’t regret it.

I’m sorry but the service continues to decline! I’m here quite a bit and I’m thirsty and hungry… Seriously I’m thirsty!
