My name is Chris Koehnen and I have been in the customer service industry for more than 10 years. I owned and operated a painting business for 5 years prior to becoming General Manager of the Twin Cities 1−800-GOT-JUNK? and FROGBOX franchises. My business passions include providing exceptional customer service for every client, creating a first class team of employees and continuous improvement of our operational systems. I received my bachelor’s degree from UW-Eau Claire.

I grew up in Golden Valley and currently reside in Minnetonka with my lovely wife and two children. I love to spend time outdoors with family and friends including boating, hunting, fishing, camping, mountain biking and exploring.

Derick and John were extremely professional, respectful and courteous movers. They arrived on time and kept us informed throughout the process. We appreciated their attention to detail and all the small touches … bringing us coffee in the morning, taking off their shoes when coming in the house, carefully wrapping our artwork, and giving us a housewarming plant when they left! The total cost came in under the original estimate, which is always a nice surprise. This was the third time we’ve used You Move Me and we continue to be impressed. Moving anything can be stressful and painful (literally) I used You Move Me today to move some bedroom furniture and they were awesome! The driver called me ½?hour before arriving and asked if he could pick me up a coffee! They arrived on time to the minute and finished within the est time by working very quickly. They are absolutely the best and my back doesn’t even hurt after the move. Don’t even think of using anyone else. I would have liked to give them 10 stars but it wouldn’t let me

Since we haven’t moved in over 22 years, I was astonished when researching moving companies in the Twin Cities how many had pretty awful reviews. I think we got really really lucky when we selected You Move Me! From my first inquiry with Mandi in customer service, to watching the moving gentlemen close the truck door at the end of the move, our experience was perfect. I have been recommending them to anyone who’s inquired about our move. Now I think Unilocal can good the word out better than me. Use You Move Me Minneapolis.

I don’t know why no damage was noted on my final checklist. They told me what was broken (and I later found out other things were broken like the legs of furniture). The items that were broken are worth more than what I paid for the move. I don’t want anything other than for others to know what happened.

We had our appointment set up a few weeks before the move. They were supposed to show up at noon. We had three phone calls saying they were running late and very apologetic. They showed up at 4:00 instead. To make matters worse they sent a team from another one of the companies «you move me» owns and the man said he doesn’t even work as a mover. So we ended up getting three guys instead of two and they said to make up for being so late they would charge us for only two movers instead of three.
Once we got to our new house, a lamp was broken and they could not get my dresser up the stairs. They didn’t even remove the drawers until I offered to do it for them thinking it would be a lot easier that way. The dresser got gouged and scratched. The stair railing and wall to our new house also got gouged and scratched. They never did get it up. However, the next day my fiancé and I got it upstairs with little trouble.
When it came time to pay, the lead guy said instead of what we agreed upon before (3 for the price of two), he would instead take an hour off the price at a three man rate. It was almost 10:00 and I was tired so I paid the man his 800 dollars. Later doing the math, I realized it was a difference of hundreds of dollars. On top of all this, the guys from the crew told us the company only had two jobs that day and the company added two additional same day jobs that got put in front of ours and that’s why they were late. I admire their honesty and their hard work. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I needed to move from one 3^rd floor walk up to another this past weekend. Initially, I planned to use my friends, but after checking the weather reports, I decided to hire the job out. I made a reservation online on Thursday, July 23 for a July 27 move. I got a confirmation call on Friday afternoon. I was very happy they could help on such short notice.
The movers arrived and immediately got to work. Ben and Juan were pretty fast and efficient. It was about 86 degrees and humid as all get out and, as I stated before, there were a LOT of stairs to climb. No complaints from either of them.
In the end, my total was a bit under the quote I was given and I received a cute plant that I will try really hard not to kill as a housewarming gift.
In a follow-up email, I mentioned that I did not get my complimentary drink (no biggie, really) and that I didn’t get the Unilocal discount. I received a call today (Wednesday) and the Yell discount is being refunded!
All in all, I was very happy with the service and would definitely recommend You Move Me to others.

The 3 movers were great during my move– I really appreciated their help and expertise. There were a few times I had no choice but to stand around and LOOK FOR THINGS TO DO! They had it all covered. The movers were really positive and respectful. Ask for Jack to be your moving lead.

I’d never used movers before, and I was worried that they would be slow, careless, or both. It’s quite nerve-wracking not to know the final cost of the move until after the work is done — at which time it’s too late to decide that the expense isn’t worth it.
I booked You Move Me for my March 28 move from a one-level, single-family house in Minneapolis to a second-floor, one-bedroom apartment in St. Paul. My two movers were supposed to arrive between 1 and 3 p.m. They did not arrive until about 6 p.m. Not a great start. But throughout the period of delay, they called with apologies, updates on their status, and a sua sponte offer of a reasonable discount. When I called the manager, Caleb, to express my displeasure and concern, he handled the call professionally, validated my feelings, reiterated the discount that I would receive, and offered a third mover for free.
When my three movers (Derick, Ben, and Mike) arrived, they briefly explained why they were running behind, apologized once more, and immediately started moving my things. They were amazingly fast and put obvious extra effort into accomplishing the move as quickly as possible. The entire process — including travel time across the river — took less than two hours. Seriously, I paid for like an hour and 50 minutes. Again, this was with three movers (for the price of two), but even so, these guys were flying.
The move ended up being very cheap — way under budget — due to the delay discount, the free extra mover, and the crazy speed. None of my stuff was damaged or broken, the movers were mindful of the hardwood floors, and they made sure that the heavier items went to the right rooms so that I wouldn’t have to try to drag them around later. These guys were cheerful, relaxed, and clearly interested in making sure that I was happy. (Caleb, they should get a raise!)
Overall, such a great experience. The initial delay was completely rectified, and I would absolutely use You Move Me again.

The company was personal. I received personal service. The dispatcher called to confirm my appointment. He was flexible on switching it. And, the best part was that the company price matched a lower offer I received.
The movers were nice and good. They weren’t the fastest people I have used to move, however, I could tell that they were more careful with my things. If you like your things, and you don’t want them broken, you should use this company.
You should also use this company if you are spastic and paranoid like me, because they reassured me and were perfect.

I used You Move Me to get my 3 bedroom house moved from Plymouth to Maple Grove. When I say three bedroom, I also mean a basement, my books from college 10 years ago, 5 bikes, and everything from my garage, and miscellaneous brewing equipment. The two guys that were sent to help, Travis and Derek must be the best movers in the area because I received nothing but awesome from them! They must take the best of the best, and then make them better! Travis is a beast and Derek was kinda like his wing-man, but, like, in an Ice-Man/Maverick type of way (you know, where their basically equal and either could be running the show).
Check out this Top Gun clip and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Do not hesitate to hire You Move Me for your move. They were extremely careful with our freshly cleaned carpets and freshly painted walls. Great experience!
***We also used FrogBox for some of our stuff and it worked out nice as we never worried about them breaking like we do when we used normal cardboard boxes from Home Depot.

I was impressed with You Move Me throughout the whole moving process. I’ve moved a lot in the last decade — hundreds of times as a professional mover and more than ten times in various cities for myself — and the You Move Me crew was the most professional I’ve worked with.
They don’t offer extra insurance, like some of the other local moving companies, but they were diligent and careful with my furniture. They wrapped and padded everything. The guys accidentally chipped a piece of my furniture, but they were upfront about it, which I respect. It was goodwill bound anyhow, so it wasn’t a big deal. Otherwise, they moved a whole apartment full of antique furniture without so much as a scratch.
And they bring coffee, which makes moving a little less horrible.

My experience with You Move Me was excellent. The movers were friendly, helpful, resourceful, considerate, and extremely efficient. I moved a studio apartment in 1.5 hours in –15 wind chill temperatures.
I booked them after extensively researching all of my options. You Move Me provided the best value for their price. The company even matched a competitive price! Additionally, the management was very proactive and responsive, which is hard to say for most movers.
In addition to great customer service, moving with You Move Me came with additional benefits– like Starbucks coffee (given the Winters in Minneapolis) and a plant (as a move-in gift).
I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a seamless and pleasant moving experience!

This company made moving the most pleasant they could! Not only did they keep in contact before they came out, they sent a follow up email after the move was complete! I only needed some furniture moved, and they did it fast and didnt break anything. The movers we’re excellent and polite. They started off by offering to bring a complimentary coffee. They also gave me a housewarming gift as an extra surprise! It really makes you feel like they care. Thank you so much for the fast and efficient move you helped provide!

Excellent movers! Moved Thurs Sept. 4 and had the most wonderful experience! Started with them bringing me and my boyfriend Starbucks, which was complementary, and ended with a perfect move and a house warming gift which was a plant. It is their normal procedure apparently. We had two guys and they worked in a very timely manner and were very careful with all of our things. They even packed some loose stuff for us in some huge boxes they had. I highly recommend these guys!

If you are moving in the Twin Cities area, these are the folks to work with.
This is my first ever Unilocal review, because it was THAT good. I have moved one other time in Minneapolis and used Local Motion. Though I had no issue with them, You Move Me’s friendly staff, lower pricing structure and general concern/thoughtfulness for my move is what sets this company apart.
I signed up to get a quote on their site, and accidentally ended up booking. I called Caleb to tell him I had made a mistake, and his attitude and helpfulness convinced me to keep the reservation.
I was unsure of the date I would be moving, and instead of making me put a deposit down, Caleb and I stayed in contact until I could confirm a reservation, and he held a spot on two dates for me (free of charge) until I could be sure.
The day of the move, the movers called and asked for my coffee order, showed up right around 8 (as I requested), cappuccino in hand, and were done unloading/reloading in less than 2 hours. (I am single with not too many items, and was only moving about 20 blocks away… but still…) They were prompt, professional and I did not notice any damage to any of my items (even though my packing was probably less than stellar).
The movers carried an iPad so I could pay and tip with my credit card, and they brought me a housewarming plant as a final farewell.
They only charge a $ 65 travel fee, and their hourly is $ 110, with a one hour minimum.
Moving is a very stressful time in general, and this company does a great job of not creating any additional stresses with deposits, damage, etc. The communication was impeccable and I will surely be using them again in the future.

My husband & I bought a home about 5 minutes from our rental and needed to hire movers to get us there. I’ve moved dozens of times and LOATHE this process. We chose You Move Me based on reviews in other markets, and I wanted to make sure to add my own review for Minneapolis. Hopefully, this will help others to navigate this daunting process. I gave them a call, and Caleb came to check out our needs and to give a quote. I was pleased to discover they only have a 1 hr minimum and bill in 15 min increments thereafter. There are no surcharges for anything. They do have a one-time fee, but that’s literally it. We were given a quote and a window of time for their arrival. The morning of the move, I received a phone call from the head guy letting me know they were on their way, and he even offered to bring us complimentary coffee! The 3 young men who helped us were SO professional. There was no idle chatting, texting or BS… we were really impressed. They also brought wardrobe boxes (no charge), which was really helpful. Our only concern was a huge sectional that barely made it into our apt, so we knew it was going to be a bear to get out. It took some muscle, but they got it. They packed our furniture with care, and unpacked us quickly at our new home. I also want to point out that they didn’t charge extra for using tape, blankets, cello wrap, etc. I’ve been nickel & dimed before and they were upfront with all fees… no hidden costs, so this was refreshing. Before they left, they gave us a housewarming gift… a plant for our new home. Very classy gesture. Thanks to Caleb and his crew for a job well done! Highly recommended.
