I love the Chair Salon! I go to Kate to get my eyebrows waxed and Brigitte to get my hair cut. Both services are stellar every time. Brigitte always knows what I need and even gives my hair a little curl before I leave just to give it a little extra bounce.

I live across the street from the Chair Salon (great neighbors) — so it’s a no brainer I come here. Last minute realization that I was way overdue for a cut — I call and ask for any stylist asap. I was welcomed at the door by Jessie and she got right to work. She began with a shoulder and neck massage that was out of this world. I am so impressed with her! Sweet, calm, subtle genius. The entire appt. was super relaxing. Needed some bounce back in my hair — and the shape and layers she gave me are perfect. I’m really happy with the Chair Salon, once again. Thanks Jessie!

My hair is uneven, it has been 4 months now since I had a cut. You see I don’t normally get a haircut, I would wait for almost six months to a year to get one. But it is not good for your hair to grow without a cut and care. Maybe I want to become a hipster but shh… that’s my secret.
So, I was having a stressful day on a Thursday, I called and made an appointment on the same day. I was surprised they had one open. I got lucky! I showed up five minutes early and the girl offered me beverage like wine, water, juice, tea or etc… first thing I wanted was wine, yep I asked for white wine cause I know red wine would make me sleepy.
I go upstairs to meet my stylist, Jesse. We greeted. She was sweet and offered me to sit down in the most comfortable CHAIR ever. I was relaxed. She told me that they give complimentary massages, like on the head and shoulder parts. The minute she massaged my stressful head, I became more relaxed. Oh boy the wine and massages was kicking in… I almost fell asleep. Anyways, I didn’t want to be the quiet customer so I told her the last time I got a (cheap) massage was in Cambodia. The minute I say Cambodia, she was surprised or almost happy to hear that… Then she started to tell me about her friend who goes to Cambodia every year to give massages to orphanage kids. She had mentioned that she was supposed to go to Cambodia with her friend and she taught herself a few Khmer words before the trip. I was very impressed because not many people like to learn or educate themselves before they go to different countries. Good job, Jesse!
Aside from the conversations, Jesse cut my hair nicely. I asked for layers and I got it. My dull hair is finally getting some personalities. She curled my hair, too. She took her time to make sure it look good. I was a happy girl. This place makes you feel like HOME, I mean it is inside a house. Cozy and relax. The main level is where you check in and second level is where they shampooed, conditioned and cut your hair. The staff is welcoming and friendly. For new customers, you get freebies. The only thing I haven’t checked out is their bathroom but I am sure it is clean.

I had a haircut with Paula, who is newer at the chair, and I didn’t know what to expect. She was truly amazing and so so sweet. I walked away so thrilled with my new hair and with my overall experience at the Chair, and I will definitely be making it back soon! Thank you Paula!!!

I take my two girls for haircuts. They have a great kids rate (varies by age) and are very good with them (now age 6 and 8). My older daughter loves her cuts from Joey, ever since he curled after a cut.
I had their hair styled here for wedding, as well and it was great.

My haircut with Kate was great! She listened to my likes and dislikes and got what I was envisioning. The place is relaxing, cozy and unique. I would recommend The Chair for those looking for a more tailored experience similar to a higher end chain but at reasonable price points.

I went into the salon stressed out from the day’s activities. As I walked in, I was greeted and offered an array of beverages including tea, wine (both red and white), and beer. The ambiance was relaxed and the décor was rustic. My stress started to ebb away as I spoke with Paula, who took very good care of me. She gave me an amazing scalp massage as I sipped on some red wine. When I got my hair shampooed and conditioned, I got to lay flat down instead of at an awkward angle that would normally irritate my neck after awhile. She cut my hair with care, precision, and art. After blow drying, she also used the curling brush and styled it. I left the salon relaxed, stress-​free, and with a bounce in my step that only comes with the feeling of a good hair cut.

BEST decision I’ve made in a while. Found this gem on Unilocal,and decided to check it out. I love my hair, a lot. Cutting 12 inches off was not an easy decision, but I wanted a whole new look. Brigitte gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. She was so understanding, and listened to my suggestions. She was phenomenal, and I’m obsessed with my new look. I’d definitely recommend this place I know I’m going back!

If you want the best short haircut ever, go see Joey at The Chair. He is phenomenal. I have a longer pixie cut, and I brought in a photo of what I wanted it to somewhat look like, realizing it’s impossible to create what some celebrity has. Well, guess what? Joey can. He is amazing, and takes his time with your cut. I have never had anyone comment on my hair before, and I actually get stopped by strangers on the street saying how much they love my hair. So if you’re looking for a great cut, see Joey. I found him by asking someone whose hair I liked where they got the cut, and they referred me to Joey, and yes, I’m a St. Paulite who crosses the River to see him.

I had the pleasure of having the Chair Salon recommended to me by a fabulous server at Tilia. I asked her where she had her hair done, as I had to deal with my massive amount of grey hair. I recently moved to Minneapolis, from NYC, so I didnt have my usual stylists to run to for comfort.
I took advantage of their new customer coupon, which is an offer of 50% off of the services by Ana or Joey. I went with Joey and am so glad I did. He is a very talented young man. I am latin, so my thick wavy curly hair had been relaxed most of my life, when I moved to MN, I decided to cut it all off. So I needed a sassy fabulous color to make up for my lack of hair :) He gave me an all over color with some gorgeous highlights/​foils on my crown. I bought their smooth style infusion hair products from Aveda, and my curls are pin straight and fabulous!
Salon is beautifully appointed, loved sitting on the little bench, while my best friend got the best male haircut of his entire adult life.

Brigitte gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had! My hair is really curly and it’s a feat to make it look nice, but the Chair did not disappoint!

Being new to Minneapolis, I was on the hunt for a new hair salon, and I was lucky enough to happen upon The Chair. Located just a few blocks off Lake St, the salon has a quieter, laid-​back, cozy atmosphere– more comfy living room than super modern salon, but with all the amenities of one.
After a stressful day at work, I arrived for my first appointment and was greeted at the front desk by Todd, who offered me a much-​needed glass of wine. My appointment was with Kate, who was so welcoming, personable, and friendly, and gave me an awesome cut. She listened to what I was looking for but then also used her expertise to make it even better! I will definitely be going back.

I love The Chair salon. Michael, the owner, is a true artist. He is the only one I’ll trust to cut my fine, thin hair. He does an excellent job every time and I leave feeling amazing. Go to see him. You won’t be disappointed.

I couldn’t be happier with both the cut I received from Hannah and the overall experience at The Chair. I was offered a beverage when I arrived in a glass, not a disposable cup like most salons, and brought upstairs to wait in a comfortable chair with tons of magazines. I waited less than two minutes before Hannah came to do her work. I received $$$ service for a salon that only charged $ 30. Super excited to have this be my new go-​to place for hair!

Wonderful salon! I was greeted by a wonderful host, offered wine, and a comfy chair to sit in while I waited for my stylist. They have a wonderful seating area upstairs as well. My stylist was wonderful and took her time, and didn’t rush through my appointment. The stations were spread out throughout the ‘house’ and not scrunched together with zero privacy, like many salons are. The chairs for shampooing are leaned all the way back (you are pretty much lying down) which I have never seen before! It made for a very comfortable wash. She styled my hair afterwards because she didn’t have any other appointments that day. I left feeling pampered, if not a bit tipsy. What else could you ask for?

For the past three years, The Chair has been my haunt for haute hair help and happiness haven. It’s a place where I get to relax, sip on some much needed wine or tea, and let Hannah, stylist extraordinaire, shape my mane into something praiseworthy.
The Chair is a two-​story salon that is decked out in a mixture of great vintage and rustic décor (I always walk away with design ideas). The owners and staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating, and professional.
Hannah has been my go-​to-​gal for all of my styling needs. I’ve had variations of the same haircut for some time now, but I ALWAYS get compliments on the job Hannah does. She’s also colored my hair a couple times and did a great job at making the color look natural. I have multiple friends who see various stylists at The Chair for their cutting, coloring, and waxing needs, and all of them sing their praises.

I got a cut from Ana and she did a fabulous job. I keep a really low-​maintenance hairstyle, which a lot of stylists try to talk me out of, but she understood. And, she didn’t take off more hair than I wanted!
She was also friendly and fun to talk to– without talking my ear off.
The receptionist was super nice as well, and the manager gave me a new customer discount. As an added bonus, the salon is super cozy and homey.

Check out the new space — much larger than the old one. The décor is cozy and warm. The vibe is inviting and the staff are super friendly. There are more hair stations and hair stylists now, as well as Sunday hours. Love the new location and look!
Can’t recommend the salon highly enough.
