I hired Molly to do my hair for my wedding after my stylist backed out. Positives: I love her positive attitude, her salon is clean, her clients are treated well, and she was happy to travel to my wedding location(6:00AM prep time at the Gale Mansion). That being said, hiring her was the one and only regret I had at my wedding. Her work was pretty, but not worthy of five stars. I don’t really feel like she listened to what I wanted. The final work product kept falling out during the wedding. Bobby pins EVERYWHERE, including down my dress. My maid of honor kept a handful of pins in her pocket(gotta love dresses with pockets), and had to fix my do about every twenty minutes. After pictures, I just gave up and let it happen. At the hair trial, we had discussed 6:00AM or shortly thereafter as an arrival time. Apparently, she called my mom the night before and left a voice mail saying she would arrive at 6:30AM. My mom did not review her messages, and so I was left somewhat stressing at 6:25 with no hairstylist. I called her cell phone, but got no answer. She did arrive at 6:30 and got started after her equipment heated up. The plan was for her to set me in hot rollers, and then work on my bridesmaid, and finish me up for first look pictures at 8AM. 7:50 came and went before she started working on me again. It was 8:50 before I was finished and able to do first look pictures. Ultimately, that meant a lot of guests saw me before I walked down the aisle. Not a big deal, but just another stress I did not need to have that morning. But perhaps the most unprofessional thing was her charging. At the trial run, she charged $ 150. My mom gave her a generous $ 50 tip, because she was really happy with Molly. Molly did not communicate with us that the day of would be any different, so we expected $ 150 for the day of. Boy were we wrong. After finishing the up do, she told my mom she ALWAYS charges double for wedding events. $ 300! If I knew about it at all, I would have refused payment more than $ 150, because she was NOT worth $ 300, and her failure to communicate with us what to expect ultimately disadvantaged us. I feel like she took advantage of the situation, and was extremely unprofessional. Ultimately, I would NOT recommend Molly.

Molly helped me transition from long hair to short, and it was a blast! She’s been my stylist for at least a dozen years, and she and Ray run a professional, fun, and energizing salon. Molly always manages to hear what I’m asking for(even if I don’t always get it verbalized) and then improves on my ideas even more. I always feel better about the way I look after leaving. I highly recommend them!

Athelas(formerly of Winston’s) is here now. I trust no one else with my hair. You shouldn’t either.

This Salon, owned by the fabulous team of Ray and Molly, has, IMO, a few of the most talented stylists in the city! They always make time for their clients, and have a great attitude. Courtesy coffee, tea and glasses of wine have been offered on occasions where I know I look like I need it! The stylists have up to date, cutting edge style capabilities, but also listen to the clients to see what they are looking for before chopping. I never even look anywhere else, Studio 52 is my go-to salon.
