Smith Triangle Park

If you’re tired of spacious, quadrilateral parks, then Smith Triangle may be for you! Nestled between busy Hennepin Avenue and the affluent East Isles neighborhood, the park boasts a monument with a statue of Thomas Lowry, Minneapolis transit hero. Aside from the statue, some other features of the park include grass and plentiful park benches. If the people I see on the benches during warmer months are any indication, they’re a great place to take a nap! There’s also a high frequency bus stop right in front (thank you, transit pioneer, Thomas Lowry) in case you need to make a quick escape, for whatever reason.
Leave your Frisbee at home – it would probably send you running into Hennepin Avenue traffic. Space-​wise, Smith Triangle is more suitable for hacky sack, as long as it doesn’t get too crazy.
