So I have be going to this place since I was a child. Have seen staff members come and go but they are always top notch and friendly. Best part is their ice cream. Best locally made ice cream in Mn sorry izzy’s and sweet science (if that’s it’s name. Great environment great locations and great flavorz. My favorite is the raspberry or Oreo Iceream cook samwhich

Their ice cream flavors may not be as chic or different as Milk Jam, but this place does their ice cream right! I tried their White Monkey (white chocolate, walnuts, and banana cream) and their Oreo which were delicious. The line was huge but their staff is pretty efficient in getting people their orders pretty quickly so you don’t have to wait that long.

My boyfriend and I recently took a road trip across the midwest and tried ice cream in every city (sometimes two). Sebastian Joe’s tied for our favorite ice cream place. It was one of the creamiest ice creams I’ve ever had. We had the Nicollett Pothole, which was definitely the right choice for us as chocolate lovers. Will come back next time I’m in Minneapolis

This place is awesome. Their ice cream is out of this world, especially the salted caramel. I don’t live in uptown anymore, but won’t hesitate to go out of my way for Sebastian Joes!

The line can get long in the summer (most good ice cream shops have this problem) but it moves really fast. We were in a line around the counter and out the door this Sunday and we waited only maybe 5 minutes total. The ice cream was so good. The whipped cream was ridiculously awesome. I got the chocolate coyote sundae (spicy peanuts, chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge syrup) and it was great. My daughter had the strawberries and cream sundae and she liked it except the berries in the sauce were kind of frozen than one would expect and annoyed her, haha. She also had a cookie that was good and I had an iced chai that was fine too. Even with the large number of people passing through the store there was still adequate seating. Highly recommend this place!

Service was polite, friendly, and efficient. Prices are reasonable, and the ice cream is to die for! Try the pavoratti (or whatever the banana-​caramel-​chocolate chip one is called HAHAHA)

AT and I went this evening (Memorial Day 2016) and got the 6oz cup/​sugar cone with 2 scoops: Pavarotti (caramel, banana, chocolate chip, and *I think* toffee pieces) and the flavor formerly known as Nicollet Ave (rich chocolate with chocolate sauce and chocolate pieces and mini chocolate cups). Each scoop was a reasonable size and worth the gourmet ice cream price.
Both flavors were very sweet but simultaneously very flavorful. The Pavarotti had a distinct banana flavor but was a bit more complex with the caramel and chocolate. The flavor formerly known as Nicollet Ave was a super rich chocolate base with a bunch of additional chocolate components. Sugar cone was good but nothing remarkably amazing, although it is nice to have some crunch with the creamy ice cream.
People there are friendly and happy to let you sample a few flavors, so go ahead and ask for a few tastes!

World’s best ice cream! I used to live across the street, and it was a summer staple. Now I stop here whenever I’m in town and pick up a scoop. The raspberry chip is my go-​to flavor, but I’ve never had a miss here.

I went with the tropical float which was interesting and delicious. It consisted of sparkling water, some coconut and melon syrup (I believe). And they dropped a heavy scoop of some delicious vanilla ice cream in there. I’d get again but I was hoping they’d put some coconut flakes in there. My wife went with the super sunday (or awesome sunday — I don’t exactly recall). She was not happy about it. She thought the ice cream wasn’t that sweet. Ironically, this is why I really liked the ice cream. I feel a lot places make it too sweet. This place was conveniently located near our AirBnB place to so that was nice. Aside from my opinion, people seemed to love this place. The ratings are high and there was a long line when we went on Saturday night.

For a single scoop the service size is huge. The ice cream was extremely fresh. I tried cookie and cream and was not disappointed. There’s plenty of parking around the place so walk in and enjoy their outside seating.

Ice cream was delicious. My group had coffee, lime sorbet, and banana respectively. Everyone got a cone and the universal verdict was «cardboard-​like» and the cones had a strange taste.
Skip the come and go right for the cup. The ice cream is totally worth the wait, which you’ll experience from early spring until the last day of fall.

Sebastian Joe’s is Minneapolis’ Grand Olé Creamery. They have a wide variety of flavors, including some pretty wild ones that I don’t know if I would have the stomach to try. You’re going to have to pay a bit… but some of the flavors are, oh, so worth it — especially the Salty Carmel. It’s my fave. Try it with a Butterfinger or Heath waffle cone and you’ll never try another flavor. Seriously. It’s that good. You’ll find more creative flavors here than you would at GOC.
This location has plenty of seating in a second area. You can read the newspaper or bring in your laptop and work while indulging in ice cream. Parking can be a bit tricky at times. If you’re a fan of homemade ice cream, be sure to try Sebastian Joe’s.

One of my GO-​TO ice cream places! So happy I live in uptown now, and this place will be a major key this summer ;) They have tons of flavors to choose from, delicious waffle cones and even ice cream cookie sandwiches! Another plus is that they’re open pretty late, usually 11pm I believe. Huge plus because late night snacking is my thing.
If you haven’t been here… go! You won’t regret it. :)

Best/​/​cutest ice cream parlor in uptown. It’s been around for a while and is famous to most in the Twin Cities. This location is especially cute and has that old feel that I appreciate so much in businesses. The ice cream is homemade with their own special techniques and is incomparable to most place around the TC. Their raspberry chocolate chip and oreo flavors are to DIE for. Service is usually good and there is a separate room for seating which looks out onto Hennepin Ave. It can be busy, so leave some time!

I read an article online that listed the top ice cream shops in the nation, and Sebastian Joe’s was on the list! After trying this place out, I totally agree that it’s a must for ice cream lovers out there.
At the shop, I got to sample some flavors and decided on raspberry chocolate chip and Oreo (2 scoops in my cup). You could tell the RCC was made with real raspberries because of the fruit pieces blended into the ice cream. I wish I could take it home with me! As for the Oreo, it’s a flavor you can’t go wrong with. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at their shop and sat in their outdoor patio to enjoy my ice cream :-)
An additional note: the hotel I spent the night at offered hand-​packed pints of Sebastian Joe’s ice cream, and I gladly bought one. It’s just as good as hand-​scooped!

We all love some good cookies n’ cream, right? Made with real Oreos (none of that «chocolate sandwich cookie» junk), dark gray in color from all the ground up cookies, and with big cookie chunks. I am happy to report that Sebastian Joe’s serves exactly that kind of ice cream.
In additional to the Oreo, I also had the Salty Caramel which was good, but a bit more sweet-​tasting than caramel-​tasting. The shop itself was great. The staff were really nice and it was a nice, chill environment. Definitely worth checking out!

Where do I begin to explain the frozen goodness that is Sebastian Joe’s? They have a ton of creative flavors. It’s impossible to have a favorite because they’re all so unique and delicious. The strawberry banana, apple crisp, oatmeal cookie, Nicollet pothole and gosh I forget the name of the other but it’s a chocolate ice cream with cinnamon and chocolate covered pretzels are my go to choices. Whatever you do, don’t miss out on an opportunity to try this place of you’re in the area. Oh, and try to get there early because the line gets pretty long but it moves quickly.

Delightful oral gasm hotness or rather coldness. The ice cream really popped with flavor, it was rich, creamy, decadent and did not melt before it hit your mouth. It was so good i honestly regret not being to buy a bunch and ship it home. Yum yum yum. Also well done it wasn’t «expensive» it was just pure midwest deliciousness at a wholesome price. We will deff be back to try the other varieties of flavors. Also ps during the time we where here had some awesome music choices going on the overhead. just another small pleasure that happens at this joint.

We like Sebastian Joe”s ice cream and have had it all over town, but this was actually our first stop at the actual store. I have to say, the best part was that they serve the ice cream at the perfect temperature, where it’s soft and unctuous. This really improves an already premium product. The store itself is cute with a pretty clear menu board. The staff was friendly, patient and helpful. I opted for the flavor of the day, Mocha Almond Fudge. It was really excellent and reminded me of a really good rendition of the Jamocha Almond Fudge I ate as a kid at Baskin Robbins.
I was wooed by the chocolate dipped cone with sprinkles, because we all know I’m a sucker for sprinkles. I have to say — it was a mistake. The cone, dipped in chocolate and then covered in sprinkles had to approach half an inch in thickness. Since they keep the cones in a cold case to keep them from melting, the chocolate was rock hard. And the sprinkles were really hard and crunchy… almost like small bits of candy rather than sprinkles. Add all that up and it was really hard to bite and then chew the cone part of my treat. I have had some dental work, so I have to be careful about such things. I ended up eating all of my ice cream and tossing the cone. It’s a shame.
But next time I guess I’ll know better and just go with a regular cone or a cup. I think I still do prefer Izzy’s, but that’s just a personal preference. I definitely understand why Sebastian Joes has such a large and loyal following.

The line can be pretty insane, though. So be prepared the wait. In my opinion, the wait is totally worth it because it is delicious. The Nicollet Ave Pothole is my favorite :)

Funky little shop with great ice cream! A definite top 10 in Minneapolis and we would know, we’ve been to quite a few ice cream shops! Perfect flavor pairings for any taste!
When you walk in the air smells amazing and the staff are welcoming. The line was out the door but it didn’t feel like a long wait. The end of the line is a treat to the nose with the amazing coffees available.
We sat inside the closed patio and the kids enjoyed seeing the birds fly in for a visit before dancing back outdoors.

Rich, flavorful ice creams and great selection of flavors and styles of serving it. On any given evening, expect to wait in line to make your selection and place your order. Service has usually been good. If you’re coming from outside the neighborhood of this shop and you must park your car and it happens to be a busy evening, you may be driving around a while looking for someplace to park. It is nice, however, to stroll around in the neighborhood while enjoying your ice cream.
Minneapolis has their Sebastian Joe’s.

Anything with that long of a line full of happy people must be worth waiting for. The line was at least 30 people deep when we got there, but the staff was so efficient that it didn’t take long at all. They have a good selection of flavors that are listed right behind the counter. They do have random flavors that you end up asking twenty questions before you order because the names are so odd, like Kare 11 sunrise, which is apparently lemon with something else mixed in.
I personally got a small cup of the raspberry chocolate chip and it was more than enough.
They have some indoor seating as well as quite a bit of benches and patio sets outside.
Very good, homemade ice cream that is decently priced. Definitely worth a stop!

Delightful! We stopped in after a meal and tasted a bunch of flavors. In particular I really like how every flavor is refreshing and definitely does not have any artificial taste.
The blueberry mint ice cream had so many chunks of blueberry and fresh mint. The sweetness was perfect!

This is good ice cream. It definitely wasn’t worth the long line or the 50% markup, but it’s good ice cream. It’s reminiscent of the kind you get at the store. Or other ice cream parlors. It had toppings. We got the Crunchy on the Bottom. Cool idea, reminiscent of breaking my cone and eating it out of a bowl.
So, yeah. That’s about it. It’s good ice cream.

It’s a great place to come in the summertime. Ice cream is on the thicker side, if you like that sort of ice cream. On a scale of Grand Old to Izzy’s, I’d say it’s in between. Personally a big fan of latter.
I usually always get the Pavarotti or occasionally Nicollet Pothole, but I tried Passionfruit and thought it was surprisingly yummy. Waffle cone not as fresh though.
They used to have a discount depending on the weather (cheaper as the weather gets colder). Not sure if they still do though.

Sebastian Joe’s happens to be within walking distance of several great restaurants, so even if you’ve stuffed your face at The Lowry, Rinata or Roat Osha you might find yourself at the door of the shop with a coincidentally ice cream cone shaped space in your stomach.
The line is sometimes long but it moves quickly. The employees have been right on top of things each time I’ve been in.
My favorite flavor so far has been the Dulce de Leche. I’m sorry, dude who was in line behind me, for taking the last scoop of it, I could see the sorrow in your eyes and I felt bad. We tried the Chocolate Coyote recently and it was not something I’d eat every day but it was unique and had a surprising amount of heat (it’s chocolate with cayenne and cinnamon), which is an odd sensation in something you normally associate with cold and sweetness. They do even basics well, like the rich but simply pleasing chocolate chip flavor we had on our last visit.
The waffle cones aren’t my favorite of the local shops, I sometimes feel they taste a little stale though I feel pretty certain they’re fresh. But I need to lose about 532 pounds thanks to Unilocal and so getting my ice cream in a dish is A-​OK.

Update. Came here again to try another flavor: Salted Caramel. Nothing special, Izzy’s take is better. I’ll stick with my tub of Talenti or Haagen Daz over Sebastian Joe’s.

Came here with my kiddo on a warm almost-​summer Saturday afternoon. The place was hopping and the line was pretty long, but that’s good because it gives my indecisive self a change to ponder the menu like I am about to make a life changing decision.
My kiddo is simple, he usually gets something fruity or chocolate. I sampled about 5 flavors before settling on almond mocha fudge (omg, right?) and he chose chocolate. Evidently there was some confusion in the handing out of cups because I think he ended up with a cookies n cream flavor, with oreo pieces in it, which was okay, because he loved it and I tried it too and it was awesome.
The girls working were very nice about letting me try a thousand flavors. Also there was a bakery case that was mostly empty because it was late afternoon, bit I would be interested to see what’s in there in the mornings, because I am a junkie for donuts and everything related.
Kiddo said it was the best ice cream he’s ever had. So there’s that.

We were recommended to visit Sebastian Joe’s while in Minneapolis. A nice side trip after visiting the Walker Art Museum. It’s a nice vibe. And they were friendly — when my son dropped his ice cream on the floor, they gave him another one with no questions asked.
They have a wide range of Sundays, smoothies, ice cream, and floats. I’m sure on a hot day this place will be jumping.
Why only four stars? To be honest, the lemon sorbet that we had tasted somewhat artificial. I’m guessing other flavors are better.
One other comment, you are only able to have one flavor if you get one scoop. In other ice cream stores, you normally can combine flavors. Half — half.

At a ten minute walk from my house I will be here all the time! The ice cream is amazing, super creamy and they always have a variety of unique flavors. My current favorite is the White Chocolate and Almond, I know that it sounds like a pretty basic flavor but the taste is incredible! No matter what you pick get it on the chocolate dipped waffle cone to get the full experience.
The staff here is also really friendly!

I got the pavarotti and rasberry chocolate chip on a handmade waffle cone.
The flavors blended well together for each ice cream, and the consistency was perfectly smooth. However, I like ice cream shops that get a little more bold with their flavors. There’s nothing about these two flavors that make me crave it, and when I finished, I was left with little impression on what I just ate.

The ice cream is out of this world. The two flavors that are totally worth trying out is their Raspberry Choco and Pavarotti. Holy cow! Frozen explosion in your mouth. It’s smooth, silky with a rich creamy taste! It’s freaking amazing. Forget about gelato, forget about frozen custard/​yogurt. Just come here and get a tasting of their sublime homemade ice cream in many of their unique flavors.
The waffle cone could have been a little bit better. Towards the end of my handmade cone, it turned a little bit too stale. You can hardly bite into the cone so it becomes annoyingly chewy. But the ice cream here is top notch.
So the cost… Yeah, it’s really damn expensive for an ice cream scoop. $ 5 – 6 for one single scoop but I tell you what, it’s worth the price they charge. Why you may ask??? Well, every lick, every bite of the ice cream makes you want to crave more and more. That’s how damn delicious the ice cream here is. It’s so addictive.
I may one day just fly in just to grab a scoop and head back home. That’s how good this ice cream is.
