Scooterville

I have been going here for more than a year now, and I have never gotten bad service. Jonathan even knows me by my first name at this point. Nice people, and good service. I will be using them until I leave the area.

I’ve been to Scooterville a number of times over the past couple of years, mostly for parts and accessories. I’ve always been impressed by how friendly the people are who work there.
Last fall, our scooter tipped over, The left brake lever snapped and needed replacing. Fancying myself a true «wrench», I headed to Scooterville, picked up the part and then proceeded to spend 2+ hours attempting to replace the lever. In the process, I must have removed just about every part of the external housing of the scooter in an attempt to gain access to the necessary area. With light and patience fading and expletives flowing freely, I finally succeeded in getting the lever in place and functioning. As I stretched my aching back in triumph, I swore I would never ever let the scooter tip over again under my watch. And I didn’t…but my wife did Monday.
Having learned my lesson, I stopped by Scooterville to see if I could get an appointment soon. They actually could have squeezed me in right then, but I didn’t have my ride with me. I set up a time for two days later. I showed up a few minutes early and talked w/​the mechanic to remind him what needed work. He disappeared for a few minutes and I started to wonder when he was coming back. I glanced outside and saw him already working on the scooter in the parking lot. I joined him outside to watch. Unlike me, he didn’t remove any of the housing and was able to replace the lever in less than 15 minutes even while patiently answering a bunch of questions I had. Having observed a master in action, I’m fairly confident that I could replace a future broken lever in less than 1.5 hours. :)
After he wrapped up, we went in and rang up my job for a very reasonable cost.
All told, a great experience and I’ll continue using them in the future.

My wife and just bought scooters here after no less than 5 visits to this shop … We were treated so well by everyone on the staff we’d talked to … They had expert advice and answered our never ending questions so that we felt completely prepared when we finally made the purchase … Than you, Scooterville staff! You’re the best!

I’ve always had great experiences with Scooterville. They’re always friendly and knowledgeable.
I purchased a Buddy 50cc from Jonathan and he was incredibly helpful. He even cut a bit off the sticker price, despite it being a limited edition Lemonhead Buddy. They did forget to give me the second key to my bike, but after I locked the key I had in the trunk they gladly gave me a second at no cost. The warranty on the buddy covered the towing to get it to he shop, and once there they didn’t charge me for unlocking the trunk.
I’ve had the bike stored and winterized twice with them and haven’t had any problems. It’s $ 300 well spent for me, especially living in an apartment without a garage to store the bike. The winterizing includes a full tune up, but this year I’m having body work done to fix up a couple scratches. Once this polar vortex ends and I can pick up my scoot again, I have faith that everything will be in great working order.

We did not buy our scooter directly from Scooterville — we bought it used from a man who purchased it there. We’ve had them tune it up, bought replacement parts and helmets, and generally used them as our go-​to scooter resource. Their friendly staff has great records, know exactly what we need, offer the help we ask for and deliver what they promise. Always a pleasure to do business with them.

Not a fan. We bought two scooters from them. I never received a Title for mine and when I called them he was like, «we dont have it»…ergh. Now I have to get a duplicate from the dmv…
Also, when I bought the scooter I put money down and was to have a loan through kymco… months went by without a bill and worried this was affecting my credit I called them up and asked what was up? They told me they forgot to submit the papers to kymco… LOL So I went down there and paid in full… I wonder how my Title got lost.
Their attitude is beyond tilting as if they are too cool to actually help. It’s also annoying they get business because the lack of other shops.

I have to say, I’m not entirely thrilled with Scooterville right now. My scooter and I were in an accident three weeks ago yesterday, and sadly, the bike needs a little work. The day after the accident, I discovered the brake handle was snapped and would need to be replaced. They got me in and out in an hour! I was so thrilled, and looking forward to writing another glowing review for the shop.
I noticed a little wobble in the front of the scooter while out riding the next couple of days. I brought it in, and Jonathan rode it for me — he noticed the wobble right away. Glad to know it wasn’t just me being paranoid!
Since they had gotten me in and out same day with the brake handle, I thought this would be a quick job, too. Obviously, it would take a little longer if parts needed to be ordered, but it should have gone quickly. I dropped my bike off first thing Friday morning.
I have classes on the West Bank, so I stopped in late the next afternoon to check on the progress. They hadn’t had a chance to look at it, so I settled in for the long weekend to wait it out until Tuesday morning.
Tuesday came and went with no news, as did Wednesday and Thursday. I called on Friday, and still no news. A few hours later, I received a call saying they had found the problem: a bent front wheel. They would get to work on it just as soon as possible, but they would need to order in some parts, which could take as long as 5 days to ship in. BUMMER.
I waited another week before checking in… found myself on the West Bank on Friday, so I stopped in to see if there was any progress. They hadn’t even received the parts yet! I’m not sure how they don’t keep ANY of this stuff in stock. They sell a TON of Buddy scooters, they should keep a few spare parts on hand.
On top of the fact that the parts weren’t yet there, they told me that Steve, the mechanic, rode my scooter and ‘couldn’t find the wobble.’ The people who are NOT the mechanics had to tell Steve, the ‘trained professional,’ to take it out again, and this time, take it up over 30mph. I sincerely wonder if the diagnosed bent wheel is even the issue. I guess we’ll see when I get my scooter back, if the repair makes the wobble go away or not.
That leaves me where I am now. It’s Wednesday afternoon, and pushing three weeks since I dropped my scooter off with them. When you don’t own a car, your scooter is your ticket to freedom in this city! I’ll update again when I get the call that my scooter is all pretty and ready to come home to me.

I like Scooterville for their selection of accessories, and their ability to service my scooter. However, the first (and so far only) time I had my scooter «winterized» there, they forgot to disconnect the battery so it died and had to be replaced the next year. They were good enough to do it without charge to me though, since they admitted they were supposed to have done it. I will still go back, but next time I will verify with them that they did it.
