We have been going to Red Wagon since they opened, just over a year ago. We always have great waitstaff and amazing food. The food uses quality ingredients, which is highly important to our family. I also believe that every time we have dined in, the owner has either greeted us upon entry or came over to check in to make sure our meal was exactly as we had hoped for. Last week we were having friends over to our home and ordered 6 pizzas for take out. When my husband arrived back at our home, I asked him where the 6th pizza was. I called Red Wagon and they just had noticed that they had forgotten to give him all 6 pizzas. They were very apologetic. I told them not to worry sometimes these things happen. I have worked in the restaurant industry and know not everything goes perfectly, especially on a Friday night. When my husband arrived back at the restaurant to pick up our pizza he was greeted with a sincere apology from the waitstaff and owner along with a $ 20 gift card and a free appetizer as a sign of sincere apology. I love supporting local businesses. I love supporting the kind of business that appreciates it’s customers. Kudos Red Wagon we loved you before and love you even more now. We never expected anything for the mistake, but appreciate that you went above and beyond for us.

I love the restaurant in terms of its look and feel, it’s nicer inside than Lola. The beer selection is off the hook awesome. I live really close by and can walk there in 4 minutes. We met the owner and he is a really nice guy. However I do not like their pizza, it’s over priced for what it is and it’s not half as good as Lola. I have tried 6 different pizzas there and have been disappointed. If you’re looking for a cool atmosphere to meet for a beer or wine this is a great place. If your looking for good artisan pizza head to Lola, Punch, or Black Sheep.

AMAZING! I can’t believe it took us this long to try and we were very impressed. They even give your little one a ball of dough to play with. You can’t go wrong with any of the pizza’s and the ceasar salad was also great.

Came here last night with my husband for dinner. We started with some apps before our pizza. I had the ceasar salad, which came with a warm baguette and soft boiled egg on top. Delish. My husband opted for the chicken wings, which he enjoyed. Next came our pizza. We are pretty plain people when it comes to toppings, so we split a pepperoni with half sausage and half mushrooms. The pizza took a little longer to arrive, as they started making it incorrectly at first, but the waitress quickly came over to inform us of this, which we appreciated. When the pizza did arrive, it was tasty, but nothing outstanding. I love a thick and chewy pizza crust and this place didn’t seem to have it, unfortunately. I think Pizzaria Lola’s still wins in that category. All in all, cute place, good service and tons of beer on tap.

First off, the décor is absolutely perfect. The bar is decorated in a very clean, simple manner with adorable taps. They have a really open kitchen environment and they make the pizzas right next to the bar, so I liked that you could watch them for entertainment purposes but also because you know that they have this confidence like«yeah i have amazing pizza and use quality ingredients». They let you do half/half on the pies so I did the Red Wagon Pizza and a special BBQ one that had corn on it. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was delicious. My favorite part about the whole place is that the chairs for the bar and tables are black with silver upholstery studs. It just looks so put together. Also, that they have parking and there was plenty of street parking since there are only about 5 other stores on the block.

I really love the location and the casualness of this place and the fact that they have a patio… I also wish I could give them a better rating… It really was ok as in meh… I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it, I actually feel indifferent. So here’s my breakdown: We got the Red Wagon Pizza and Prosciutto wrapped asparagus Wish List: I wish there was more sauce on the pizza, I wish they had a garden salad option,(they only have a strawberry salad or Caesar)… the app’s were limited and we had gotten the prosciutto wrapped asparagus. It was missing something. It seemed bland, I thought it would have blue cheese with it but it didn’t? I wish the pizza crust was thicker? It got kinda soggy by the second piece… It’s really thin. I wish their beers weren’t $ 7 for a 12 oz tap? That’s pricier than uptown. Things that worked: The casual atmosphere, creative pizzas, I like that they put your pizza on a giant can to give you more table space. They have a huge beer selection and the service was decent. The sausage is really good.

I’m gonna have to go ahead and give them 5 stars. This pizza was so legit. I had no choice but to order the Bahn Mi because I saw a picture and it put me into a trance. It was everything I ever wanted in pizza, before I ever even knew I wanted it. I need to try that Cuban next. Do not hesitate.

Have you ever gotten that look? You know, when you walk in during dinner rush with a group of 12 or more people and you didn’t call ahead? Yeah, you know that look! Well guess what, we didn’t get that look when we arrived at Red Wagon Pizza! They were friendly and after a short wait we had a table in the center of the restaurant. Close to the bar with a great view of the open kitchen and a stunning view of the patio which was in full bloom. With more than 30 craft beer options, we were thrilled to try several and pass them person to person for our very own beer tasting event. The pear cider was a crowd pleaser and you can’t go wrong with milk stout. We enjoyed a few rounds of bar chips and they are outstanding! It is a pizza place so let’s talk pizza… order of greatness! 1st Place: Lucy! Party for the taste buds. My friend hates mustard and pickles and she couldn’t get enough of this pizza. Pretty sure she ate five slices! Ha! Truly a masterpiece. 2. Popeye: Great great great! 3. Red Wagon Pizza: A standard good pizza 4. Chickmoula: Mixed reviews. With all the other greatness it just couldn’t compete with the Lucy. The kiddos had a cheese and pepperoni pizza. We did have one little hiccup that was quickly corrected. We arrived with a person who requires a special diet. NODAIRY. We asked ahead if the Baked Gemelli Pasta could be made without cheese. They said«Of course!» of course! It arrived with bits of cheese in the sauce and had to be sent back after a few bites. We had a very disappointed face but he was happy to munch on more bar chips. Overall, great visit, great pizza. Little pricey but the ingredients and fresh taste made the price acceptable.

I’m not so sure about this place. I went here with my love and we both got two different pizzas to try. He got the red wagon and I got the chickmoula. His was very delicious but one bite of mine and it tasted rancid. The chickmoula has braised chicken thigh with crispy chicken skin and it was gross. I had my love taste some and he agreed. The chef must also have agreed as when we sent it back he offered a new pizza at no charge. I wasn’t happy with my experience and ready to go home so we declined. They did however take the price of that pizza off our bill. I’d like to go back and try another pie but I’m worried about the kitchen not knowing when ingredients have spoiled. We will see. I’ll also say I always find it annoying when pork is on 80% of the menu. If you can only cook well with one kind of protein then I wouldn’t consider you a well balance pizza place. If it’s a niche you’re trying to fill, awesome. Otherwise with all the great turkey, chicken, vegetarian, buffalo etc options at other pie spots, you can’t compete.

Call me old school and a Viet-food purist, but a small piece of my soul dies when I read or learn about banh mi inspired menu items that don’t come in sandwich form. My immediate reaction consists of spitting a few four-letter curse words and shaking a fist or two in the air.(Maybe both at the same time.) In other words, I’m like what Ice Cube says on his podcast(called Final Level), «I’m not a hater, but I hate s***.» Vitriol — I become full of it. But then«Things Done Changed»(Biggie reference), when my Viet homie — who used to work at Travail with one of the masterminds that opened Red Wagon — let me know that their banh mi pizza is hella Paul Pierce aka the truth. Here’s the convo: Homie: Yo, the banh mi pizza at Red Wagon is legit. Me: Nah, homie. Are you playin’?! It’s never been done right. Homie: Yeah dude, the chef is legit and the pizza is pretty damn good. Me: Aight.(Bookmarks Red Wagon on Unilocal.) I met-up with a few friends at Red Wagon the other day, and I have to agree with my homie. It’s legit. I. FOOD/DRINK Banh Mi Pizza: First, let me just say that I have to give this joint props for actually taking the time to research how to correctly spell our baller-but-not-baller sandwich. I appreciate that. Second, I haven’t met a non-Viet person actually pickle the veggies correctly, until I ate at Red Wagon.(Respect!) Third, I love the crust and the mayo-based sauce they used. And more about the mayo, I want to put it on everything. To improve the za, though, it would’ve tasted better and more banh mi-like if the pulled pork was Viet-style BBQ pork, pâté was added, and if the stalks of cilantro were cut-up. Regarding booze options, there are plenty of awesome wines and beers to pair with your soon-to-be-scarffed amazing pizza, so don’t sweat. II. SERVICE Our friendly server checked on us just enough, without being annoying. We could tell that she really loved her job and would get plenty tips that night! Our pizza came out after ten minutes or so. That’s pretty fast, considering that it was a Friday during happy hour. III. ATMOSPHERE/AMBIENCE It’s casual, and a nice place for any kind of situation.(Chillin’ with friends, a date with your boo, etc…) I like how they give kids legos to play with. Where were mine?(Just playin’.) IV. PRICES At first glance, they may seem a bit pricey. Then, you’ll receive your gigantic pizza and be like, «oh dang, this thing is huge, and it totally justifies the price.» V. OVERALL Really great pizza at a quaint place. I’m sure I’ll find myself there at least one more time before I move to Atlanta forever, especially since I actually enjoyed my banh mi pizza so much. Red Wagon totally won me over.

First of all, this is not some basic dive of a pizza place(though those places can be amazing). It is an upscale take on a pizzeria with elevated pies, sides and salads, and an extraordinary tap list. For this reason, do not go expecting a cheap meal. Once you accept the fact that you are paying more to eat here, you can come to enjoy the ambiance, service and, most of all, the food. We have been meaning to try this place for a while but always forget about it. We were passing by on our way home and decided to eat there if they allowed dogs on their patio. Luckily, they do, and our entire family enjoyed a meal of pizza, pub chips and arugula salad. We ordered the Red Wagon pizza and it was amazing — the house made sausage and banana peppers were a delicious combination and the fig balsamic gave the pizza a nice ending sweet note. Our server was exactly what we would want — attentive but not overbearing, knowledgable about the menu and drink options and kind to our dog and daughter. All in all, the food was worth the price and the service was top notch. We will definitely go back, with or without the toddler.

If I had to talk only about service it would be a full 5, I love the down to earth ground who is amazing. Stops by at at the right times and walks away when needed. They even gave me great tips for re heating pizza(so on stove top on a warm skillet!). They have 36 beers on tap so everyone can be happy, pizza was good but not amazing, but I will come back for service alone. Try a sample of a beer or course before you try it, it is amazing, I am not sure of the bartenders name(had a very small pony tail) but wonderful!

I really like it here. To start the beer list and tap presentation is awesome. If you can’t find something you like to drink here, you are far beyond beer snobbery. A recommendation of mine is the tequila barrel aged cider, but they have all the local favorites you would hope for. If you are looking for a pepperoni pizza on this menu, you are doing yourself a disservice. It’s the last listing for a reason, get something creative, they’re kinda really good at that here. My absolute favorite has to be the Banh mi pizza with thin pickled veggies and soy glazed pulled pork. Seriously yummy stuff. For breakfast I tried the green eggs and ham pizza that was awesome! Basil, prosciutto and fresh mozzarella make this crispy breakfast pie an addicting, shareable start to the day. To me the skillets here are too small to be a meal, but we’ve had some good ones with butternut squash and chili and pork and veggies as well. Perhaps what draws me here more than Lola is the ambiance, I love that I can choose a seat in front of the kitchen and chat with the guy prepping my dinner. The staff here really are that friendly. The outdoor seating is nice too, with some sun for brunch or little lights for dinner. It’s got that great neighborhood feel that makes you want to make this«your place.»

Came here on a Saturday night around 8 and got seated at the bar immediately. At first we were just gonna have drinks there until our table was ready but the counter space was plenty big so we stayed there. 4⁄5 Atmosphere was cool, casual, and fun. It was small but well lit and simple. I loved the marble bar countertop. 5⁄5 The bar tap is pretty impressive and what was neat was they had the beer sample on top so you can see how light or dark the individual beers were. The wine list was also pretty good. Their house Pinot Grigio was light, crisp, and not too sweet. 5⁄5 The service was prompt. We got our drink orders in fast and water was always refilled. All the food got out in a timely manner. 3.5÷5 Appetizer: Pepperoni roll which apparently is a New Jersey thing so a first for me. I thought it was really good since the bread was not too thick and very crispy with the cheese and pepperoni. My date grew up in Jersey and said the cheese and pepperoni ratio was off so I trust him. 4⁄5 Caesar Salad: Great size to share with 2 people. Loved the soft boiled egg on the salad. I’m a sucker for egg porn! My only complaint was that the salad was dressed a little to heavily for me. 3.5 Sausage Pizza: We are both simple pizza people and love sausage pizza. The crust was thin and perfectly crisp, the sauce was light and flavorful, cheese ratio was on point, but the sausage lacked flavor. I like mine to have a little more flavor and would have love it have more fennel. Seems like this place is place is more known for their speciality pizzas. 3⁄5 Dessert: My biggest beef was with the dessert. We ordered the tiramisu and it was like a sample size. For $ 7, I expected a much larger piece of cake. Also it was a tad bit dry for me. 4⁄5 Overall: a wonderful spot to grab pizza, some good craft beer, and wine. I was not disappointed.

We would never come back. The pizza was good and the beet salad but sorta failed on the pea soup it was cold and the peas were not cooked which they supposedly are supposed to be blanched and hard. The service was sparse to say the least and it is very loud. In the end the gave us a banana dessert on the house and took the soup off. So they redeemed themselves but we still would not go back All in all they really need to get over how special they think they are and realize they need to work the restaurant and not FUCK around. Too many Chefs not enough workers.

Fantastic pizza, tons of beer options, friendly staff, and a huge patio! Winner! Everyone has an opinion on Pizza, but I personally take it overboard. I’m obsessed with Neapolitan style pizza. I’ve spent years researching it and making it at home. I’ve traveled to places like Italy and Chicago just to eat the local pies. I’ve been to and reviewed every pizza place in the TC that is worth a visit. Red Wagon; it’s well worth a visit! The location is beautiful. You would not expect a corner pizza shop to be in such nice digs. A high end steakhouse or martini bar could take over and just change the name on the sign without any refurbishments. Everything from leather wrapped booths, cloth napkins, custom water glasses, Edison light fixtures, granite(style?) tabletops, clean and inventive design on the beer taps, etc. it all adds to the experience and might even be «too» nice for a pie shop. They even had two dozen red roses on the bar and a candle lit on our table for lunch. The story behind this restaurant is great, it goes much deeper then the beginnings of a food truck. They even have a photo on the wall and menu of the head chefs family having pizza night some 60 years ago. We stopped by right after they opened on a Sunday(they are open 11am-Midnight daily) as we have a baby and dinner doesn’t work for him the best. We were immediately greeted by the bartender and Sophie our server. Both were extremely helpful in teaching us the ropes of the ‘Wagon. I wasn’t sure which beer I wanted, but Sophie threw in some suggestions based on my preferences and I ended up trying out something I never would normally and it was a great brew. She seemed to know as much about beer as she did about pizzas. Some other reviews mentioned how this restaurant is maybe not kid friendly. Sure I visited at lunchtime on a Sunday, but it was a great spot to eat with my family. After we sat down two other larger groups with kids sat down as well and it seemed to be a great spot for kids. They do have high chairs for them too. I don’t know how dinner is, but I wouldn’t worry about bringing any decently behaved kids to this restaurant. Pizza Review Pt. 1 Crust — To the PIZZA; Crust review first! The crust is close to authentic Neapolitan but I don’t think the dough is wet enough or the oven hot enough. They also seem to be very liberal with the flour dusting either during the dough forming or on the peel before they launch the pizza. The crust is quite covered in extra flour that isn’t incorporated into the actual dough. I did this often when I was starting out making my own pizzas or if I’m worried that it will stick to the peel because the dough is so wet. I’ve just never seen an actual restaurant create pies that look like they were dusted right before entering the oven. The oven is a true wood burning beast. The pizzaiolos know what they are doing with this oven and you can tell by the way they launch the pizzas, work the flame, and rotate as necessary. I like char on my crust, both on the undercarriage and on the edge(cornicone). Unfortunately I don’t think the oven was either up to temp quite yet in the morning, or they just don’t let it get hot enough ever, but I prefer a bit more leopard spotting on my cornicone that can only occur in a true hot oven like this. The underside of the pizza did have great spotting though. Overall, the crust was good, but it was NOTGREAT. Why was it not great? It was a bit on the crunchy side, not as soft or chewy as I would expect. It did have great rise with bubbles inside and it held its own with toppings added. The heat of the oven and the proper flour would have helped with a bit more browning then my pizza received. All together — the crust and what it lacked was my reasoning for detracting a single star. Still good pizza crust, but not the best around. Pizza Review Pt. 2 Toppings — They have no shortage of artisan toppings, unique and not something you will find anywhere else. Banh Mi on a pizza? Sweet! Braise beef cheek and mashed potatoes? YUP. Reuben sandwich, I think this is one of the claims to fame they have from the Linden Hills Farmers Market(I hear). All awesome, and the great news is they are still creating unique creations and adding them to the menu, so you might stop in and find something completely different. We went with the Long Horn which was nothing short of amazeballs. Beef cheek, shoestring potatoes, mashed potatoes — man do I love carbs! Overall, Minneapolis is officially a Pizza city. We have great representation from some top chefs and this is a great new contender. I don’t think it will reign supreme, but I will be back to try the rest of the menu!

I have mixed feelings about my experience at Red Wagon. I went at 8pm on a Monday night, and the restaurant was quite busy. My boyfriend and I had to wait 10 minutes for the host to even acknowledge us. Right after he told us it would be about a 20 minute wait for 2, 2 spots opened up at the pizza bar, so we sat there. Our server was also the bartender, but he had to walk around to get to us, so we had to turn around to talk to him. I thought that was slightly awkward, but he was great and very knowledgable on the beer and pizza list. While sitting at the pizza bar, the pizza chef made small talk with us and was super friendly. He made up for the lack of service when we first came into the restaurant. We ordered 2 pizzas because we couldn’t compromise on one. I ordered the Bahn Mi, and my boyfriend ordered a pepperoni and sausage. Both pizzas were $ 17. I thought the Bahn Mi was priced well, but I felt $ 17 for the pepperoni and sausage was pricey. Lots of the pizzas looked very interesting, so I am interested in going back with a large group and trying a few kinds.

Wonderful pizza with a neighborhood vibe. We visited on a Wednesday night and lots of families were happily feasting on pizza. And wonderful pizza it is! The Sausage Espagnole has golden raisins, roasted red peppers, chevre, collards, chilis and toasted sunflower seeds. The collards offer a touch of bitter and contrast the sweetness of the raisins … mmmmmmmmm. This was very good. My husband, not an adventurous eater, decided to create his own with sausage, pepperoni and egg. That was awesome. I ate the rest for breakfast the next day. They offer a wide selection of beers and a good selection of wine. The server brought out a glass of Prosecco and decided it wasn’t full enough so went back to top it off. Nice. Sodas are not name brand but my Pepsi loving husband said it was very good. Pizza combinations are very creative. I think they should come up with about 10 more(please include one with lots of figs and I will drive 35 miles every 2 weeks — I promise). Desserts are their weakest point. The chocolate stout cake was too mildly flavored and dryish. They have changed the presentation of the cake and now serve it with chocolate shavings and crème fraiche. My suggestion would be to create a more airy cake with deeper chocolate flavor and put the stout in a ganache sauce pool. Maybe drizzle white chocolate over the top. We will be back. The breakfast pizza sounded good. Every table around us ordered a different type of pizza and they are looked(and smelled) fantastic.

We tried to venture in for a meal on a weekday around 6pm and we should have known better. A place that serves great pizza, has an awesome beer selection, and is located in a family-friendly neighborhood will always be packed during the early dinner block. Because of this we decided to do takeout. We ordered the Longhorn, a braised beef, mashed potato, shoe-string potato, barbeque masterpiece. The only thing I wish is that they had different sizes available because a bigger offering would have been greatly appreciated. As we waited for the pizza to be made I had one of the many beers on tap, an IPA I had never tried(the name escapes me). Probably not something I’d order again, but I am thankful they have so many options for me to try and come up with new favorites! We will definitely be back again to try out a non-soft opening sit-down experience. Can’t wait to see how the place has changed in the few weeks it has been open!

Red Wagon Pizza Co my first impression was WOW! You really know how to do it right! We came on a Saturday night and I had to keep reminding myself«this is a pizza place». But what I soon realized was this isn’t just any ordinary pizza place. It’s casual but a fun vibe inside. They offer 36 beers on tap plus cider and a variety of wine by the glass. Hey I’m liking this place more all the time! They have a list of appetizers so we decided to order the«pepperoni rolls». They came out hot with«warm» appetizer plates. They were delicious. There are plenty of pizza options here but The Red Wagon Pizza is what we went with. It’s topped with banana peppers and home made sausage. The crust was crispy and it was perfectly done. I have to say our server, the hostess and all the staff were all very attentive. There is just a warm cozy feeling here with good food. I think Peter Campbell(the owner) knows what he’s doing and I can’t wait to come back for more!
