Red & White Cab

Whoever the man who is dispatching the calls tonight (Friday, October 9^th 2015) needs to be fired. Completely lazy, unprofessional, & incredibly poor customer service. Also my driver #53 725 although I’m not sure if it was the vehicle or if it was him m or a combination of both, but I can honestly say one of the worst smelling cabs I’ve ever been in. It smelled like he hadn’t taken a shower in a week, just the most horrible body odor stench. I am thoroughly disgusted.

I live right next to their home base on Franklin Avenue and the drivers are constantly speeding through the residential streets. My parked car was totaled by one of their cabs a few years back as their driver lost control of his car and plowed into mine in what’s supposed to be a 25 mph zone.
I’m tired of them doing well over 35mph in narrow residential streets with cars parked on both sides and a large amount of auto, bike, and pedestrian traffic.

Last night my friend and I were downtown Minneapolis and we had hailed a cab from pourhouse and we originally said we wanted to go home but we had changed our plans and asked him to bring us to a different bar instead. The taxi driver, named Sam started getting very aggressive when we asked and told us to pay before he took us anywhere. We let him know that he was going to get paid for his service but not until we have reached our destination. He then pulled the cab to the side of the road and started yelling at us to get out. He physically grabbed my shoulder and my clothing and ripped me out of the cab onto the sidewalk. I hit my back and head pretty hard as it was from the seat of a Kia Soul to the ground. He then drove my friend away with my wallet in the car and went down the block and punched her in the jaw and kicked her out as well. This was probably the scariest incident of my life and I hope no one ever uses this taxi service again.

Convenient for me as I don’t live far from their headquarters. They’ve always arrived on time, fairly clean cabs, drivers are willing to help you get to where you need in a hurry (speed or take short-​cuts etc.); Overall not bad for taxi services.

I have had a few good experiences with the company, but the last two times I have called them they have said ‘Should be just a few minutes’, and no one ever came either time. The first instance I called back after 30 minutes, and was told ‘it should be just a few minutes’. After another 30, we flagged down another cab.
Monday night at SoberFish we called again. Same story ‘Should be just a few minutes’. After 35 minutes, my wife hailed a Rainbow taxi driving by. They never called.

Well maybe I was too quick in my original 5 star review. I guess I got lucky the first time. Called again for a cab and was told they’d send one right away. Waited and waited… called back they answered «red and white the wait time right now is an hour». They told me they’d call me when they had one available. I had to get where I was going so I started toward the bus and froze my patootie off along the way, but even after 2 transfers and 45 minutes I still hadn’t received a call from R&W before I reached my destination. I guess it’s just tough to get a cab in a decent amount of time in this city. I always see them waiting for fares when I’m downtown and I am less than 5 miles from there. Who knows.

0 stars. Called 45 minutes ahead of when needed, they said call back in 10. Ok. Called back set it up. Called back to check told «a couple minutes». Ok. Called back 10 minutes later and told «oh we have nobody for you» and when asked why I wasn’t called (they ask for your number for some reason) I’m told «oh we don’t really do that.» Wow. Thanks jerks.

I tried to get a pick up reservation via their online reservation form. I submitted the form, it said thank you for submitting the form. The next morning, I was waiting out in the cold and the cab never came. I called the company where they promptly told me that their website form does not work. Nice to know!
So, they sent a cab out telling me it would be 5 – 25 minutes. 45 minutes later, I called back still with no cab. They told me the cab was 10 blocks away and they would call when it arrived. I went inside, and called back 5 minutes later. While I was calling, I looked out the window and, behold, the cab was sitting on the curb-​not calling me!
So, my wife and I went down to the cab. The cabbie never got out of the car to help us load our luggage or open a door. He didn’t know how to get to Nicollet Mall, which is one of the most well-​known streets in Minneapolis and he ran a red light.
To top it off, when we arrived at our destination-​35 minutes late for work-​Our cabbie complained that it was a bad place to unload passengers, told us to hurry, had us pay him, and didn’t get out of his cab to help us unload. Please note, that Nicollet Mall is Cabs, police, and buses only. There was no traffic and we didn’t hold anyone up.
Overall, this was the worst cab experience of my life. The dispatchers were rude, they cabbie was rude, incompetent, and a dangerous driver. There website is non-​functional. And I missed my first meeting scheduled for day.
If you value customer service, civility, and your safety, NEVER USE RED & WHITE CAB!!!

Worst experience using a cab company EVER!!! My driver was terrible at driving, didn’t know where he was going, almost got into an accident, driver went 50 mph on a 60, he pressed his breaks so hard my body shifted frontwards, just terrible! Did I mention that he was scared to drive in the snow!?! And it wasn’t even snowing outside! I will never use this company again.

After being told they had a cab a few blocks away we ended up waiting 30 minutes for the cab. When we called back to inquire about what was taking so long we were hung up on. The cab never came.

This company was over 30 minutes late picking me up with communication about it. I had to call them and ask where they were, then they told me an approximate amount of time as to when they would arrive. And they still arrived later.

Forget this company… they have no clue about directions to anywhere. They show up when they want, in whatever POS they can find. If you order vans for 14 they might bring a taxi and a 6 passenger van… how does that work? Better yet, they had one 6 passenger van to transport 14, so we were just suppose to take turns. Again, how does that work. If they pull up, act like you are not waiting for them. It will be the worst experience ever.

I’m basing my star rating solely off of the poor customer service from the dispatch when I called them last night. My friend had better luck, and albeit I was drinking, doesn’t give her the right to be a complete B word. We got off to a bad start because she answered and she spoke so fast, I couldn’t understand her so I had to say, «wait, what?» I told her the address I was at, and first she asked East or West, and I wasn’t sure and said «east, I think. I’m on 27^th st S and Hennepin Ave, in uptown». Then she said «North or South?» and I said.“um. south? I’m in uptown” She then says «this is your cab not mine, I don’t care where they pick you up». Thank you lady, and isn’t it your JOB to punch the address into the computer and it will tell you where I am? Frustrated, I hung up.
My friend had better luck after she called back (not able to get through to rainbow or blue and white) and she said the address and said south (didn’t i just say this?) and the cab was at the house within 5? minutes. It even called her when it was out front. The cab driver was nice, but he did drive extremely fast, and illegally at some point. I appreciated the hustle because it was late, and we were going to NE minneapolis, but it was still $ 22. I didn’t have much money to give him as a tip, but because the lady was so rude from the start, i will try to use a different cab company in the future.

Crooks, unprofessional jokers! I’d rather take the bus in Johannesburg on a Friday night. Long story but don’t use your credit card and don’t bother calling them. If you see them show them the middle finger.
One star for the amount of brain cells shared at that pathetic cab service.

I’ve tried to use this cab company a number of different times and each experience is worse than the last. I called them last night for a cab and the estimated wait time was 10 minutes, which is fine. I requested a call so that I didn’t have to wait on the corner, outside. The cab driver didn’t call me until 40 minutes had gone by. I had already walked to my location by the time he called me.
A situation prior to that, I called for a cab, was told 10 minutes. Requested a call and none came. I ended up standing outside for 20 minutes — a straight no-​show from them.

This cab company doesn’t deserves zero stars, they deserve negative stars! I have used them personally and we have used them at the palce of business i work at to help out some patients. This is hands down THE worst cab company ever!
We usually schedule people the night before to be picked up by Red & White the following morning. I’d say a good 20−30% of the time Red & White never shows up. That is just pathetic!
Personally i have used them about three times for personal use. The first time went smoothly, the other two were complete disasters. In the first disaster i told the cab driver to take me to the 501 Club. I told him i was pretty sure it was over near the U of MN but that i’d never been there before. He told me there was no such thing as the 501 Club by the U and he dropped me off at the 508 Club in downtown MPLS and then sped off!!! I had to pay a random Red & White driver to take me to the right spot, which by the way i was right about!
Then last winter i tried to use them again. I ordered a cab and I told them i was going to NBA City in downtown MPLS. When i got in the cab i told the driver where i was going at which point he asked, «Wheaaaa awwww you goiiinnnggg?» I was sure he was drunk. He struggled to explain to me he had no idea where NBA City was (which come on, i never go down town and i obviously had a clue where it was). He drove me a block at which point i feared for my safety, got out of the cab and ran back to where he picked me up. This was one of the coldest days of the year and when i was running back i slipped and smashed my shoulder into it’s socket. I had to go see doctor’s and i couldn’t use my right arm for practically anything for days!
Don’t worry though, i called the cab company and they assured me this cabby wasn’t drunk. He just had severe cerebral palsy!!! Oh thank you Red & White, that is so much more comforting… NOT!!! Never ever use Red & White cab, period. It is too risky. They might just never show up, drop you off at the wrong spot and zoom off, or they might send someone who has a severe mental impairment to come and get you. If your choice is to take Red & White or stay home… well, if you value your life you’ll stay the hell home!!!

I’ve had consistently reliable service with Red & White Cabs in the last 3 years I’ve lived in Minneapolis. I’ve lived in Uptown where they’re based which may have led to better than normal service?
I get nervous calling a cab at 5am to go to the airport but they have arrived within 5 minutes each time I’ve done this.
Drivers usually know neighborhoods /​good routes and are often friendly. I’ve stopped calling other companies and they get all my business now.
