Radisson Blu Minneapolis Downtown

I had a horrible experience with the Radisson Blu downtown Minneapolis. I was scheduled to attend a conference in Minneapolis on June 16, 2016. May 17^th, I went online booked a room at the Radisson Blu, but somehow in error I booked the room for May 18^th and 19^th and my card was charged $ 494.48 for the two nights.
Fast forward, I flew from North Carolina to Minneapolis on June 15^th, arrived at the Radisson Blu to check-​in and was told, «I’m sorry, we do not have a reservation for you.» I hunted and found my confirmation and at that point the mistake was realized. I explained what happened and the front desk clerk got his manager. I asked the manager do you have rooms and she said, «yes, but not at the conference rate… you will pay the „rack“ rate $ 500.00 per night.» I ask if I paid the Rack rate would I get credit for money already paid? She said, «no, the money was prepaid and non-​refundable.»
Long story short, they would not budge on the price of the room and would not give me any credit for the money paid. I called Marriott and stayed across the street for $ 350.00 per night. Afterwards I spoke to the hotel manager by phone, who was very cold and rude. I asked him to split the difference with me and told him it was an obvious mistake and again he would not budge? I told him I was going to post my experience on Unilocal and he said, «Ok.» He just didn’t care.
I shoulder some of the responsibility, but it would seem when I didn’t show up the first night they would realize there was an issue. Again, this was my booking error, but at the very least I thought the hotel would meet me in the middle and give me some of my money back. I am very disappointed the hotel was not more helpful. They wanted to gouge me on the room because they knew they had me over a barrel and would not work with me on anything. I travel at least 15 days per month and have never experience anything like this before.
Marriott is directly across the street and very nice. If you are looking to book at the Radisson I would say beware, things are good until they aren’t.

This place is beautiful! The restaurant/​bar is classy with a great happy hour and ambiance!

This hotel was lovely and the staff was very helpful. I stayed here as part of a group and everything was very nicely taken care of. The hotel was quiet and noise did not bleed into the rooms from the hallways or other rooms. The location is also convenient.

What a great comfortable stay cation we had at this hotel. The bartenders are great and remembered me and my drink of choice, that’s great!

Hello to the newly redesigned, business forward, Radisson Blu. I get it, out with the old posh style and in with the new straight to business modern look. Big giant led screen, giant communal business centre table, pair that up with the giant modern light fixture that looks like a half a Pokémon ball. Thumbs down… looks hella atrocious!
Anyways, the rest of the hotel is business as usual. The desk is staffed with really really nice people, but somehow it seems like the ambiance is stress. Ok, i said hi, they check me in and I go up the elevator to my floor.
Many thanks to the hotel gods that the rooms aren’t as stressful as the lobby. There’s a blue light outside my windows since it’s facing the atrium of the building. That’s fine, blue lights don’t bother me, it’s rather nice actually. The beds are made with clean sheets, there’s a closet I can hang my clothes in, a desk if I wanna do some work. My bathroom has a tub and a shower, there’s a toilet that flushes and a sink with a faucet.
I love the whole modernization of the hotel. Tons of sockets for our eternal thirst for powering our devices are godsent. I just though the lobby lace lift was rather unecessary.

Beautiful hotel! I absolutely loved staying in this hotel, even if only for one night. The hotel rooms are extremely large, modern, clean and uniquely decorated. I felt right at home, and it was a nice trendy change from your standard hotel room. My bed was very comfortable as well.
The lobby has the same concept. Very open and welcoming, with computers and sitting space. I used to work in hospitality, and love that the check in desks are open so that employees can come around to greet you as needed.
We had a group of about 15 of us and check in was a breeze. Everyone from our Sales Manager to our Group Rooms Coordinator was fantastic to work with.
The hotel and much of the downtown I learned is connected through the skyway. Awesome concept and I only wish we had that here in Madison. You can grab a bite to eat or go shopping without having to actually go outside.
One thing to note is you are of course in the city and downtown. Streets can get noisy with emergency personnel in the late hours of the night, but that is to be expected when you are in the city.
I would absolutely stay here again!

What a wonderful hotel experience! I just love this place! I’ve stayed here quite frequently for the last year and every visit has been perfect! The staff is very personable and attentive in every aspect. During my first visit I fell ill (very ill) and the housekeeping staff noticed when they came to clean my room. After that morning they paid extra special attention to me all week — checking in on me — they even sent up tea and fruit with a nice note. There is truly nothing like that care and compassion when you are away from home. Everyone from the valet to the staff at the Fire Lake Grill are just wonderful (and the food is divine too)! Love the flavored water in the lobby. The gym is great (and spotless) and the very CLEAN rooms have all the amenities you desire when you are away from home … a safe, large tub and rain shower, coxy beds, small fridge, bottled water and coffee maker in your room. It is in the heart of Nicolet Mall with great food and some shopping. You won’t be bored! Come stay here — you will love it!

Awesome renovation Radisson Blu MSP!!! I remember before the renovation and it wasn’t bad or anything… but they did a great work. Now the hotel interior is very modern and pop.
The wall paper is absolutely an eye catch. The room itself it spacious and has good storage space. The hotel is connected to skywalk so you can go to a lot of places in downtown without walking outside. The hotel restaurant at the first floor is very good too.
There were only a few negatives. The first thing was the fridge was turned off and it was so hard to turn it on. The second was the elevator to sky walk took forever.
Overall I am extremely happy with the new radisson and looking forward to staying again.

This newly renovated Radisson Blu is spacious, clean and bright. I enjoyed my stay in a clean room with modern amenities, fixtures and décor. The business center didn’t have a scanner, so the front desk scanned a doc for me and emailed it to me. The front desk folks were friendly upon checkin.
Although I didn’t get a chance to try it, my colleagues felt the restaurant here is quite good.
My only small gripe is that the walls are pretty thin. I think my bed shared a wall with next door’s bed, and it sounded like my neighbor had a cold /​flu. She was coughing until 3am, and unfortunately, it sounded like she was in my room. :(
Finally– I left something in my hotel room, and when I called housekeeping, they were able to retrieve and FedEx my list item back to me easily enough (at standard shipping rates).
This definitely beats the nearby Westin. I’ll be back for the comfort of the bed and bathroom alone!

This hotel was definitely different from your traditional hotels (the concept itself seems to be trending with current consumer tastes).
I read in a WSJ article how hotels test out new market concepts by observing consumers in a hotel room (with their consent of course and in an incubation center). The trend nowadays is that guests do not unpack clothes from their suitcase, they use their laptops on their beds, and everyone now has a smartphone. This hotel accomplishes all these needs by having a smaller closet (therefore your room seems bigger), taking out the work desk by having a smaller desk that you can use, and having usb outlets EVERYWHERE so you don’t even need to bring a charger.
I love the concept! I was very comfortable and at home being at a hotel that meets the demands of the current traveler. I also loved the waters at the lobby (cucumber infused water) as I brought a water bottle and kept going down to get refills since it was so refreshing.
The restaurant at the lobby was also very convenient — great for a quick breakfast before my trip back home.
I give it 4 stars because I felt that the people manning the desks weren’t the most inviting. They were hotel average, meaning that it wasn’t exceptional and I wouldn’t remember the service after I left the hotel. The hotel décor was what won on this visit.

This is a great hotel with wonderful staff.
If you have a chance to visit the lounge, it’s well worth the visit. Great service and a relaxing environment to decide where you’re going to hang while in downtown Minneapolis.
The rooms are spacious and clean with great toiletries in the bathroom. The shower is cool, as well.

Great location, newly remodeled, friendly staff. A few sticking points: they do not offer queen beds, only rooms with 2 doubles or a king. Parking is $ 6, which isn’t a bad deal for the location considering parking anywhere else would cost 2 or 3 times more. Concierge happy hour was your typical bar happy hour. The hostess wasn’t very familiar with local attractions or eatery’s, so rely on Unilocal for that! The FireLake bar had a modest drink menu, typical wines and beers and a few ‘unique’ mixed drinks; ranged from $ 10 – 15 each, however, the bartender does have a bar book and can make anything you request.

My sister and I recently stayed at the Radisson Blu and can’t say enough good things about them. Our stay was in a great location right downtown, great for walking around. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The hotel was tastefully done throughout. The service was outstanding. Due to a family emergency we had to cut our stay short and The Radisson accommodated the fact that we left one day short of our booking. Not only that, but in our haste to leave, I accidentally left my jewelry in the lock box in the room and my cell phone plug in was left behind as well. The Radisson (thank you Nicole) sent both items to me to Seattle where I live. I was so grateful. The Midwest spirit of honesty and integrity is alive and well there.

This was a great hotel. I couldn’t have asked for anything more on my business trip. All of the staff from check-​in, to room service, to conference space was very friendly and helpful.
The rooms look recently updated and had great amenities: iPhone 6 compatible iHome, wall USB outlets, big closet with interior light, robes, slippers, mini fridge, laptop sized safe, complimentary bottled water, toiletries, free wi-​fi, room service (from the restaurant downstairs which was great), Nespresso machine (I believe this coffee maker was only in business class rooms)
Location of the hotel is great too. You can take the train from the airport. It’s just a 25 minute ride to the Nicollet Mall Station and a 2 – 3 block walk. Target Field is a short 10 minute walk and there are great restaurants in the area.

Hands down one of the most CURRENT, Open/​Spacious, Comfortable hotels I have ever stayed in. I’ve stayed in about 75 different hotels across America and Canada and Radisson Blu on 7^th is at the top when it comes to being modern. Great service, great bed, great bathroom.
They’ve raised the bar for sure.

I dig these Radisson Blu hotels! I have stayed at the one by the Mall of America. But have not been to this redesigned Downtown Minneapolis version yet. The style is clean, modern, and funky! I was not staying here, but my parents were and I got to have a beer with them at the restaurant and hang out in their room for awhile!
I love the design of these rooms, totally fun! I loved the cassette wall, and pop art photos above the beds. The rooms are not huge, but kinda the perfect size! They were on the 10^th floor, facing north, and had a killer view, looking down on 7^th street!
The bathrooms are super nice, and squeaky clean.
The price of this places is a little more expensive then some downtown hotels, but you get a really fun experience, both in room and location! This hotel is located, within walking distance to Twins Games, Timberwolves games, First Ave, Nicollet Mall, and hundreds of bars and restaurants! WIN WIN!

My boyfriend and I decided to hit the Cities this past Easter weekend so I went on Hotels Tonight and came up with several available rooms. Since we were heading to Fogo de Chao for Easter brunch I wanted some place close and chose Radisson Blu based on the location, price and look of the pictures on their website. While the parking ramp was cramped (I recommend driving down to the lowest level) the elevator was swift and efficient, just like the desk clerk who checked us in. The lobby is modern and attractively furnished. The elevators are activated by room key (which I completely approve) and are admirably fast.
We really REALLY loved the room. It was the perfect size, cozy without being cramped (we had the King size bed). Very attractively furnished and recently, as well. Bathroom was spotless and well-​appointed — even had a small lighted make-​up mirror! The closet was even lighted! The bed was a Beautyrest and very comfortable. While the TV was HD, many of the channels offered were not. However, they did have the necessary ports so we could plug in a tablet and watch Amazon Prime through the TV.
Overall we were very pleased with the value we received for the price. We will definitely book there again!

We would have rated Blu a 5 star if they had a Starbucks next door :). But no worries there is one 3 short blocks away

I didn’t stay here but this is a review of their customer service. A+ and I could not be happier.
I booked a stay here on accident and actually wanted to stay at their mall of America location. There was a mix up and ended up getting charged at both places. I wrote them an email and explained the situation expecting them to not refund me (it wasn’t technically their fault) but they did with a nice letter. 2 thumbs up for people that still value their customers. I’ll be referring them to people in the area!

Booked 3 rooms at this renovated hotel about a month ago– we booked through a 3^rd provider and the rate was unbelievably low. I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular but upon arrival everyone in our party was impressed with the hotel lobby and service. It was very modern and tastefully decorated for the holidays. The concierge was very accommodating and they were able to get us all on the same floor. The rooms were pretty standard but very clean and stocked well. Overall we didn’t have any complaints and very happy with our stay.

Bed was super comfy. Room was beautiful and modern. Except that the «windows» faced into an interior hallway (with a mattress propped up against the wall being stored there.) so we had zero natural light. Basically always dark. I’ve never stayed in a hotel without a window.
We stayed on NYE so we expected some noise, but it was intolerable. Walls were thin. We could hear everything in the hallway and the room next door. Complained about noise and they sent security up. They eventually quieted down. But the hallway continued to be loud until 4 am. For a recently renovated space I’d expect hallway noise to be better than that.
Also, bathroom smelled like pot, likely from our neighbors.
Overall, pretty nice room but would like to have known to request a room with a actual window facing outside.
Wouldn’t spend $ 200 to stay here again. Way too many hotels downtown to put up with this stuff.

We decided to stay downtown for a night and chose Radisson Blu for the location. So glad we did! I had visited the restaurant Firelake a few years ago and wasn’t too impressed but since then they’ve been completely renovated.
The hotel is impressive, to say the least. The rooms are huge and welcoming. We stayed in the basic king room and we’re really impressed with just how big the basic rooms are. The room was very modern and the bed was super comfortable.
We stopped by Firelake for drinks before going out to dinner and they were good! The food also looked delicious — definitely going to have to give Firelake another shot.
Overall this is a great downtown hotel. I’ll be recommending it to my friends and family when they come into town.

I received an unsolicited email from Radisson Blu giving me information about their event space, which is understandable as I receive similar emails from other wedding vendors. My problem with Radisson Blu is that they sent this email to 293 other people and they put all of our email addresses in the To field instead of BCC. Not only have all recipients’ emails been shared with 300 strangers, but now I’m receiving emails from other people trying to remove themselves from this mailing list by doing a Reply All. This is one of the least professional emails I’ve ever received.

The Radisson Blu is a great update to what already was a well received Radisson Plaza property here in downtown Minneapolis.
The update has been ‘from top to bottom’ with a very refined, modern and eye catching lobby. The huge 24×12 television opening up to a large central desk complete with large screen Mac Computers greets you on arrival. The front desk is rather minimal with quick check/​out and a very friendly staff.
Rooms are still spacious, yet splendidly redesigned and redecorated with contemporary colors, very nice linens and extremely comfortable beds. Some rooms face an inner court. Others the street below.
The AC & heat work well and maintain the selected temp. No issues there.
The brewed coffee machine has been replaced with an automated single-​serve with 6 coffee pods stocked.
Baths are contemporarily designed as well.
Best of all, there’s seems to be a real attention to detail and everything is noticeably very clean clean clean.
The gym is well equipped with free hand weights, machines and plenty bof cardio machines. There’s also a side cardio room with mats and stretching balls.
Location is ideal. The entrance on 7^th street is equidistant to Nicollet ½ block on one direction and ½ block in the opposite direction. Both streets offering a bevy of restaurants, bars, Theater & music.
Convenient of course, is the FireLake Grill House Restaurant adjoining at the lobby offering all the good stuff they are known for locally.
All in all, this Radisson Blu is an easy 5 stars. Meets & Exceeds.

Recently stayed at the Radisson Blu MPLS for a work conference, and it was a very pleasant stay. On the surface — the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are funky but comfortable, and the meeting space was not only architecturally interesting but also well laid out.
Of the 400+ guests we hosted for this conference I think nearly all of them commented on the FOOD over the 2 days we were there. The meals were all spectacular! The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well.
We had some trouble with management and the execution of our contract with the hotel for our meeting, but I am not going to include that here as I don’t know many people would be reading Unilocal reviews prior to booking a space for a large meeting like we had. For the average vacationer or someone in town looking for a relaxing getaway I would highly recommend this venue. For those looking to host a large event or wedding — I’d probably skip it or you’ll find yourself with a headache.

Since our usual hotel was filled up, we decided to go to this one. Heard about their renovation and was super excited to check it out!
One thing I LOVE about this place was the staff. Everyone was so nice and so accommodating. From the room service to the front desk staff, everyone was personable and really efficient.
The rooms were on point as well! Huge king sized beds, LOTS of space in the actual room. I probably would have preferred to have a larger sized bathroom though. Don’t get me wrong, it was still great! My tub was a little clogged so my showers turned into a mini bath, but all good. What I really liked was the mural on the wall when you entered the room. Super dramatic and gives the room so much character.
At the end of the day, this place is a hotel I would prefer coming back to again. The rooms may have been nicer at the other place, however, the staff here was the best. They really made my stay one to remember!
