Largely unknown fact — there are two Peace Coffee shops in the Capella Tower. Yep — that’s right — a normal looking coffee shop skyway level and then an amazing lounge/coffee bar on street level. Coffee is the same in both locations, but the ambiance of the street level bar is amazing — check it out. Anyway — the coffee here is amazing. I’ve never even had their drip coffee because their lattes are something only dreams are made of. Just the plain basic latte is delicious. It is crazy expensive for a latte, so it is a splurge when I stop by here, but that makes it so much better. Very nice addition to the coffee scene downtown and a great place to have meetings.

Honestly, I was kind of put off by the mod atmosphere. As I sat waiting for my Americano to cool I watched a flat screen TV showing video of bears destroying pumpkins while soothing classical music played. I felt like I was in some bizarro 60’s movie. Then it happened– I drank that heavenly coffee and the classical music seemed to swell in a rapturous nod to a simply wonderful brew. Well, the screen is showing baby tigers playing with pumpkins now and the music has switched to soft jazz… gotta go.

Looking for a great cup of coffee? You’ve found the right place. Ginger Pear Macadamia Muesli and a vanilla latte. This place screams San Francisco but is in Minneapolis. Check out their story. Peace Coffee, I will be back

I love Peace Coffee and have enjoyed their beans from our local Kowalski’s for years. Was on the prowl for coffee Downtown today, and remembered that I had seen the new Peace Coffee operation — headed there and got a great cup of Dark Mexican coffee. Very nice space on the Skyway.

During a conference in June while staying at the nearby Grand Hotel Kimpton, I was in search of a local coffee shop. This Peace Coffee location is a hidden gem on the first floor of the Capella Tower(not visible from the main entrance, but is directly behind the escalators that go up to the second floor lobby area). Delicious coffee in a beautiful setting with plenty of seating and tables. I loved the modern glass artwork near the seating area and the plentiful sunshine. If you’re looking for a fun and open setting to read the paper while enjoying coffee on a weekday, this is a great place. And it’s convenient for guests at the Grand Hotel Kimpton(half a block away). I will definitely return to this Peace Coffee location on my next trip to Minneapolis.

Quick, grab and go location at the bottom of Capella tower. Love the bergamot sage tea. Smells and tastes very good.

Great place and delicious coffee! All the baristas are friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are a little higher than Caribou but justified, in my opinion.

Best coffee option in a 4 block radius. Be prepared to feel under dressed if you aren’t in business attire.

Yes! Best coffee I have had in Minnesota! I moved from Seattle two years ago and have been searching and searching for something worth my money. I used to be a barista and have spent a lot of time in a lot of coffee shops in my life. It has been a fun journey trying to find the best coffee shop in Minneapolis since I moved here. I won’t stop exploring, but I have found the best yet! I had a small latte and the thing was delicious. The espresso was perfect. The foam was velvety and the milk was the perfect temperature. I am so, so happy!

A sleek, clean and ultramodern lobby on the ground floor of the Capella building is a fine place for Peace Coffee. it’s wonderful to pop in off the cold, wind-blown streets of downtown Minneapolis and get a warm brew. The prices are a bit bracing(e.g., $ 5.11 for ~6oz. vanilla latte) but it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted, although still not better than what I get at Empire or Canteen Girl or Urban Bean, and not a better value in that sense. The large circular glass-flame fire pit gives off a welcome soothing heat and it’s a fine place to sit and do a little reading or computer work, you know, like working on your«degree» from Capella, the fake university. But there’s nothing fake about Peace Coffee: it’s tasty(if pricey) and at least it’s not Starbuck’s, that diabolical behemoth of the coffee world.

In an area that is dominated by chains, Peace Coffee definitely stands out from the pack for having the BEST coffee in downtown Minneapolis. Perfect espresso drinks, friendly baristas, yummy pastries, and a cool little seating area with free wifi and charging ports. My only gripe is that there isn’t another one of these closer to the Target Center, but it’s only a 10 minute walk and connected to the Skyway. Try the latte!

Part of the brand new Capella lobby with indoor firepit and bar seating. Service was fast and the coffee tasty but I’m not sure about the prices. Menu isn’t as extensive as the now-moved/closed Caribou upstairs.

Finally there is a place in downtown area which can light up your day by just serving you a cup of delicious espresso or capuchino. They use organic milk for the coffee beverages which totally change the taste for better. And as nice addition they will make a beautiful heart or flower on top. My favorite is capuchino which is not really milky and doesn’t have a lot of foam. The place is relaxed and nicely designed. Sitting by fire place in a center of busy town will definitely makes you feel better and recharge the batteries for next meeting. I have tried peace coffee in other bakeries around Minneapolis but it can’t even compare. Highly recommended and even if you work not in Capella tower you should consider walking there. You won’t be disappointed for sure.

Although opening their third coffee bar in the heart of corporate Minnesota was a bit out of character for one of the pioneers of the coop coffee movement(I mean how would they justify the location on their website if they didn’t have the pretext that the building is LEED Gold-Certified!?), it’s excellent that there now exists a good coffee place in downtown Minneapolis. Since it’s a Peace Coffee bar, you can be sure super friendly staff and fair trade, organic, good coffee are standard. So, I’ll save your time and won’t comment on what that’s standard. Instead, I focus on what that’s different from other Peace Coffee places: 1– Coffee is only served in paper cups. 2– The clientele is mostly office workers in their suits and you can’t help overhear conversations into which keywords like«data-driven» and«teamwork» are thrown randomly! 3– The single cup brew-to-order coffee is prepared with an Alpha Dominche Steampunk 2.1 brewer(the only in the state of Minnesota) which is very fun to watch while operating(or self-cleaning). However, you should be ready to pay $ 3 for an 8 oz cup of freshly brewed coffee. 4– The restroom doors are locked(which is not unheard of in the downtown area), but they can only be unlocked with the employee cards which means every time you want to use the bathroom an employee must escort you and unlock the door for you! If you want to avoid this weird situation, pee at home or use the office bathroom before stopping by for your cup o’ joe!

If you look closely among the Starbucks, Caribous, and Bros Dunns in downtown Minneapolis, you can still find some local, fair-trade coffee shops. Among them, Peace Coffee is one of the best. Since discovering their location in the Capella Tower, I’ve started working my way through their signature blends — beginning with the Espresso, French Roast, and Twin Cities blends. The Capella Tower location is larger than most downtown coffee stops, which makes it a great place for casual meetings. It’s also one of the few skyway coffee destinations with a clean, private restroom. I haven’t visited other Peace Coffee locations yet. However, I plan to visit their Minneapolis-based roastery in March, 2015, to attend a tour and tasting. I’ve been thinking about roasting some coffee at home and this kind of event is just what I need to get started.

Peace Coffee is my favorite and I’m so excited that they have a location downtown close to work! NOTE: THISISONTHESTREETLEVEL. So, it’s a sneaky little secret oasis that has PLENTY of meeting/seating space and A ROUNDFIREPLACE people!!! So swanky! It feels like the lobby of a very modern/posh hotel. I feel fancy going there. It’s a great escape during the mundane workday and the BEST coffee available downtown — no contest!
