History

Established in 1971.

Paul Williams got his start in the automotive repair business in the mid 1950“s with Standard Oil Company, running a full service gas station His first location was on W Lake St near Lake Calhoun. After a few years he needed a bigger location for doing auto repair so he moved to 36^th and Lyndale. still with Standard Oil Company. He also sold and Installed Atlas tires. Lee Tire and Rubber Company came in and introduced him to there tire line. He was selling a lot of Lee tires and his auto repair business was growing. So he decided to cut his ties with Standard Oil. In 1971 he moved out of the gas station into a building that was a former Studebaker dealership at 510 W Lake St. He needed a name for his business, and that’s how Paul Williams Tire Company came to be. Soon after the move he expanded his tire lines to include name brands like Michelin, BFG, Uniroyal, Pirelli and Toyo,

Linda M.

Business Owner

Paul’s daughter Linda started working for Paul Williams Tire Co in 1978. She started as a parts runner, and helping the bookkeeper. She moved up to service writer and ordering parts for the mechanics. In 1990 became the manager and in 2011 she and her husband Mitch purchased the business from her father.

Linda’s likes to listen to a variety of music. Her favorite the British Invasion of the 60“s. She is an animal lover and has Jack Russell Terriers, and her Corgi mix. (may even see him in the shop sometimes.)

Hobbies: Camping, horseback riding, making jewelry, and cooking.
