Mezzanine Salon

My first time at Mezzanine and with Sara Lamharzi. WOW! She listens, speaks hair fluently, read my mind and gave me a detailed, fabulous cut that is very cool and looks great! I am delighted. She is the stylist Ive been looking for!
The salon itself is cool and fun. Highly recommend!

I wasn’t planning on leaving a review, even though my experience with Mezzanine was bad, but then they decided to pile it on. So here I am.
Mezzanine is poorly organized, misleading, unprofessional, and, now apparently, shady. Seems like if you are not a regular, or if they don’t think you are, they will treat you worse (I was in town from out of state)
Round 1: So I book through the online app, I get my haircut, then they charge me 40% more than the price quoted to me on the app. Surprised, I express my disappointment. My hairdresser doesn’t believe me. He checks and sees I am right. Then he says that it doesn’t matter because the price on his webpage is the price I was charged. I say fine, but ask how I am supposed to know that. Then one of his fellow hair dressers pulls up his webpage to show me his official price. I calmly emphasize that it isn’t his fault and that he should be paid his official price, –the question is if Mezzanine Salon wants set things right because that is not the price I was quoted. I ask if I can speak to the manager of mezzanine first. He outright refuses to put me in contact, and gets visibly angry. The confrontational attitude is surprising. After calmly explaining to him that I have no problem with him, and that my issue is with Mezzanine, he continues to take offense hold his confrontational attitude. It was bizzare, but maybe he was worried about keeping his space there as an independent contractor, who knows. Finally, realizing I wasn’t leaving, he conceded to the price I was quoted, and but was still visibly angry. I felt sorry for him, thinking he may be caught in the middle of Mezzanine’s crappy management, so I tipped him back up to his price, hoping Mezzanine wouldn’t take a cut from it.
Round 2: I am no longer in Minneapolis, and surprise, surprise. Mezzanine charged my credit card a second time, for no reason.

Ok all hail Dean Brewington the one and only hair messiah. He totally salvaged a terrible highlighting job done at an unnamed other location. I don’t know how he did it but it’s gone from god awful to absolutely gorgeous. Couldn’t be happier. Not that he needs to be, (with skills like that), but he was also so nice, efficient and gentle with my hair (no nasty hair tugs)! Yay Dean. Amen

Terra Groh is balayage queen. She took me from dark to light in a way that looks so naturally that I have had people coming up to me asking who my stylist is and how she got my hair to blend so nicely. She worked with me to be able to have a natural looking balayage, and because of that, I only need to get my hair done twice a year with the current color. She listened to what I wanted, looked at all my pictures, and made what I wanted work for my hair. Overall, so please with the price and vibe of Mezzanine and will definitely be back to see Terra.

Sara is amazing. I came in wanting to freshen up my already short cut and she was able to give me a completely new style while also keeping the cut I already had. I will definitely be coming back to get another cut from her!

Another Unilocal review for Sara! I went to Mezzanine for the first time to go from extremely long hair to short, shoulder length hair. I talked with Sara for a minute about it and showed her a picture. She did an amazing job! I’m more than happy with the results. Normally I’m nervous to get hair cuts, but she made me feel very comfortable and did an amazing job! I would recommend Sara and I’ll definitely be back!

Just got an amazing hair cut from Adam! He listened to what I was looking for and gave me a great hair cut that works WONDERFULLY with my natural hair texture, something I don’t get often!

Throwing my 5 star hat in the ring for Sara Lamharzi. She is an overall lovely person to interact with, but she was able to restore my hair into something I loved (which I previously hated) in a matter of a few hours. She took the time initially to understand what I wanted, and then did it. She cut my hair beautifully, and showed me how to style my somewhat unruly curly hair. The tips she gave me have improved how my hair looks 100%! I have never met a stylist who has been able to do that, she’s a life saver.
I had walked in with overly dry, brassy hair and walked out with a beautiful brunette color that felt healthy again, and I will definitely be back to have her continue to do my hair!

Just got an amazing curly cut from Sara Lamharzi. I’m always a little hesitant trying a new salon, and a new stylist, especially with my particular brand of thin but wavy curls. Sara was friendly, fast and gave me suggestions on how to tailor the idea I brought in to best suit my hair texture. The slightly asymmetrical long layered bob I ended up with was just what I wanted. I also appreciated she took the time to check in with me about how the short back I originally thought I wanted would prevent me from putting my hair in a full ponytail — it’s those small details about what it’s like to actually live with your haircut once the initial high wears off that make a good stylist. I highly recommend Sara if you’re looking for a fun, playful cut and good attention to detail. Great price for a curly cut too.

Guys, Sara Lamharzi is the best hair wizard. Together we have dyed my hair every color but green, in stripes, layers, and ombres. The single most impressive thing that she ever did over the 6 years that she was my stylist was cut my bangs in some magical way that they actually grew out without me noticing. She always did an excellent job wrangling my weird mix of waves into cuts that worked with my lazy-​girl maintenance routines.
But probably the most compelling argument is that after 8 months of procrastinating I actually figured out how to reset my Unilocal password and wrote this review instead of deciding that too much time had passed and giving up.
I’ll definitely be stopping here if I’m ever in Minneapolis again.

I have been getting my hair cut with Trisha for the past two years. She is usually careful and meticulous. However, I recently went in for a haircut with her and left with an incredibly terrible cut. There was a section of hair at the nape of my neck that had not been cut and left a full two inches longer than the rest of my hair. The layers on the left side of my head were an inch longer than the layers on the right side. And the hair in front of my head was three inches longer on the left side than on the right. My entire head was lopsided and I could not understand why it happened. I had not asked for an angled or asymmetrical haircut or a side part.
After three days of what I thought were bad hair days, I finally realized that my hair was incredibly uneven and had to see another stylist at a different salon to have it fixed. The stylist found and did her best to fix all of the mistakes but was not able to correct the hair in the front. She said that too much had been taken out as a big chunk from the right side of my head and she did not want to make things worse by mirroring the mistake on the left side. My hair had also apparently been thinned on the right side, even though I’ve never asked for that, least of all on just one side of my head. My hair remains uneven.
I am so incredibly upset. I paid over $ 80 and left with a haircut from Trisha that was not only unflattering, but also uneven and butchered to the point that a second stylist wasn’t able to set it right. I will not be returning.

I found my hairapist in the Twin Cities finally! Sara gave me an amazing haircut and experience in her chair. She was so genuinely kind and caring about my needs. Her scalp massage was like a spiritual experience!

First visit here with Terra Groh and she did awesome work and was super sweet. She was also a lot quicker with the balayage than past stylists. She was cautious with not cutting too much length off, which is ideal compared to some stylists who initially cut too short. We ended up cutting of 6″. Love my new «more manageable» hair-​do. The salon has a nice vintage feel and a lot of natural light! I will be back!

I have had long hair most of my life (some 15+ years!) and decided it was time for a change. I was digging some short hairstyles and wanted to be in good hands. I’ve also just been in a rut and felt like I needed some reinventing. New year, new hair — ya get my drift? ;-)
This salon did not disappoint! As many people here recommended Sara Lamharzi, I requested her (the pictures also gave me the sense she cut the type of hair I’d be interested well). Sara is a sweetheart and worked with me to get a good sense of the look I was going for and how to work with it on my own. I provided a couple photos (thank you, Pinterest), to which she responded enthusiastically. Additionally, we spent the first few minutes chatting and further exploring Google images. I appreciated her dedication to getting it right! If you’re going from having long hair for a long time to chopping it off, rest assured Sara will make the shock graceful.
I got an asymmetrical, curly bob and LOVE it. Sara totally understood me when I explained my hair history and behavior, cut intelligently according to the quirks of hair growth, and gave me a totally new flair I am ready to flaunt.
Stylist aside, the check-​in/​reservation staff were very professional and the salon is beautiful on the inside! I’ll definitely be back to see her when I’m in town again. :-)

I have had the privilege of having her do my hair for 8 years, on two coasts, and Minneapolis? You guys are so lucky. She is patient, funny, intuitive, creative, and really listens to what you want, what you might be afraid of, and what you can and can’t incorporate into your life. She has superstar skills and I always left feeling like a rockstar, fairy queen, it-​girl diva babe.
Since I still live in CA, I’ve finally attempted to have someone else do my hair. I’m not remotely high maintenance, so I figured going to a friend who has been the «I used to get flown around in private jets to do celebrity hair» kinda stylist would mean I’d come out of the salon just as happy as I did when I would leave Sara. Not true. Over the last two weeks I’ve spent 2 trips to the salon, a couple hundred dollars, and about 6 hours of my life: I’m still super disappointed and pining for the Sara Lamharzi touch. She’s as good as it gets, y’all. Don’t miss out.

What a wonderful experience. From booking our appointments, to the friendly staff, to excellent service, to a beautiful new haircut, everything was great. Dean and Jared took fine care of us while we were in town. It almost makes me wish I lived here so I could come back. Maybe in the summer, though, next time.

Cash only, cool loft space, Sara L was really nice and did a great men’s cut for $ 40 after giving an idea outline and letting her have artistic license (she’s definitely an artist!), complimentary tea and coffee, and I really liked the paste product she used, it brought out the waves in his hair, so we also purchased it for $ 30, grab lunch at the co-​op creamery down the street

This was my first time at this salon and oh my! Sara Lamharzi was my stylist and she’s brilliant! I had short hair going in and wanted to shorten it further and she suggested this incredible cut which was kind of in between a bob and a pixie. We looked through pictures on her phone together and i loved what she suggested.
I loved her personality as well! She’s great fun to talk with and had me in splits with her amazing sense of humor! And she’s super fast and impeccable with the hair cut! She truly loves and knows her job inside out! Wish i lived in Msp! I’m gonna miss her! Highly, highly recommend that you get your next haircut with her!

Since I moved to Minneapolis four years ago, I’ve had two hairstylists so far. Both of them are very good and I was one happy client for a while but then the first hairstylist stopped listening to me :(so I stopped going. I was okay with the second hairstylist but I wasn’t crazy about the way she styled my hair. I knew that it was about time to move on.
I had an appointment with Sara Lamharzi today. As soon as I walked in, she welcomed me with a big smile. She is funny, friendly and very easy to talk to. She is a great listener and she fully understood what I wanted. I feel so happy and lucky that she recently moved from San Francisco. I can hardly wait to go back. Thanks, Sara :)

I used to live in CA, and I was really sad to say good bye to my hair stylist there when I moved to Minnesota. I’ve been searching for a hair stylist as good as my old one for 2 years now, and I finally met one. Lindsay did a wonderful job on my hair, and I got so much compliments from a lot of people, even from strangers! Definitely going back here again!
