The torta sandwich was fabulous. Very tasty. Be ready to drink lots of water after eating this bad boy!

This torta sandwich is supposed to be great. THE sandwich of Mexico. A little bit on the salty side and a little bit on the soggy side. Both these added together makes it a subpar sandwich. This is definitely a messy sandwich. Even before you start peeling off the baking paper, you can see some of the ingredients squished hopelessly on multiple areas of the buns. Ahh! I want all my damn meats, topping and what not all inside the bun. Not on the outside! Anyways, while trying to eat this thing, I noticed the bread was falling apart. It was too thin and too soggy. All the greasy meats, veggies and avocado has gotten to the bottom layer of the sandwhich rendering it like White Castle soggy if you know what I mean. Tables are plenty but man is this food court just messy. Got napkins flying everywhere due to the fans swirling around and then add onto the nastiness of the tables around, I felt a bit a bit uncomfortable just like that torta.

Hard to find a good mexican sandwich anywhere. Manny’s Torta’s is definitely a gem in the midtown global market. Great meat especially the steak and great toppings. They just do it right!

I wanted to like Manny’s. Everyone said those sandwiches were wonderful. I just don’t get the hype. It was upper-middle class tasty, but the bolillo roll was the thinnest I’ve ever seen on anything called a torta. And 11 bucks? For a grilled sandwich with Lay’s(yuck/why is this even a thing?)? I’ve had much better, for the price and just in general. While I enjoyed the salty ham and bacon of the Three Little Pigs, it was a little overboard. Meanwhile, the steak torta was a bit lackluster in flavor, with tough steak that largely came off the sandwich with the first bite. We also waited an absurd amount of time before our food even hit the grill, which was kind of sad. Minneapolis, I don’t get the Manny’s hype. I’m sorry. I’ve had better. My pick? The torta al pastor at Andale Taqueria in Richfield.

If you are a vegetarian who hates surprises, do NOT order the veggie! I thought I was going to get at least the posted«fixings» which were listed as refried beans, cheese, lettuce, onions, tomato, jalapeño, and chipolte mayo. What I got was bread, onions, and a tomato slice. I expected more for 8 $.

Lots of love for Manny’s on Unilocal — and you’ll find no hate here. I just don’t quite match the level of enthusiasm shared by others. Manny’s makes a damn fine torta. The bread was on the plain side, gimme some crusty flaky goodness. The meat was on the lacking side, gimme some more. Both good, but not great. Bottom line, I’ve spent the same at a few spots with a nicer atmosphere for a better torta. Other items of note… Had a little language barrier with getting the orders right. Wasn’t a huge deal and it was good in the end. Located in Mercado Central.

God exists. Evidence: Manny’s Torta’s. Pefectly toasty bread, jalapenos, cheese, lettuce, spicy-ness, etc. What more could you want out of life? The best part(maybe) is that Manny might be the kindest soul to walk the earth. Honestly, I’ve been kept awake at night fantasizing about Manny and his tortas. Maybe just the tortas, but still. They’ve gotten a bit pricey, but still delicious.

I would have never tried a steak sandwich with refried beans and avocado on it had I not read a rave review in the City Pages back when the great Dara Moskowitz wrote for them. Thanks Dara. These things are fantastic! If you can’t imagine the taste you’ll just have to try one. I agree that $ 8 seems a bit pricey for a sandwich — but once you’re hooked you will gladly line up to give Manny your $$$. If you’re not quite ready for Midtown Market or the Mercado you can get delivery via Bitesquad.

Truth be told, I’ve never had a Torta. I had heard of these a few months ago(Tortas that is) and started looking through Unilocal for guidance. The overwhelming majority points to Manny’s as the authority. So, I waited until the time was right and this weekend, I find myself pissed off and still hungry after dropping $ 40 for nothing at Birchwood Café, and figure the time is now to pull the trigger on getting a Torta. …and bullseye! We split the chicken torta considering we just had curds and Salty Tart, and still had some brought along food to eat before hitting the art fair. The chicken was breaded just perfectly to give it a crunch but still have the chicken flavor roll through. Every topping brought you down a flavor freeway. The lettuce, tomatoes and onions were all fresh and provided great crisp, coolness. The avocado was such a perfect topping to mix with the chipotle mayo and jalapeño peppers. it’s hard to understand how this isn’t a staple on every sammy everywhere. And last but not least, the refried beans, which I thought about ordering without, but the woman convinced me to get on there — an incredible texture addition and the flavor to mix with the chicken and mayo was spot on. All of that is wonderful, but the bread they serve this wonderfulness with needs to be on point, and up to the job. The roll they serve these with hammers that out of the park. A great griddled roll that holds up well and was perfect. Long time coming to have one of these, and rest assured I’m not splitting another one next time I’m there… I may even order 2 or 3 just to be in an incredible food coma.

I am very much so a control freak. So when Bob suggested that I allow him to pick the restaurant for our date night, I was less than enthusiastic(to say the least). But! I have taught him well. He consulted Unilocal and(being a Mexican food lover) selected Manny’s for our date night feast. I have never had a torta, but being a lover of anything between two pieces of bread — it does not take a lot for me to be happy. We ended up getting the Hawaiian and the Breaded Steak. OMG. They were FANTASTIC! The bread was nice and crispy on the outside but with a soft interior. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and not canned. Plus, anything that has guacamole, refried beans, meat, cheese, jalapenos, sour cream and veggies on it — cannot be bad! This place also had the added bonus of serving wonderful Mexican sodas and desserts. Overall, I have to say that this is definitely one of the best Mexican places that I have been to in the Twin Cities and I would not hesitate to go back again and again! Although I hold the title of «Right Restaurant Picker» in our household, I do believe Bob won this round.

I’m very proud to be Vietnamese. But I’ll admit that after my first chomp into my gourmet torta from Manny’s today, I kind of wished that I grew up Mexican. #nojuzgarporfavor I’m salty that I didn’t have your childhood, Carlos G! I wish I could have devoured these every week as a shorty! I ordered the Milanesa(breaded steak), and it came with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, chipotle mayo, and guacamole crammed together between two pieces of perfectly toasted bread. This sandwich tasted so delectable that I made several loud yummy noises, which totally annoyed the older lady sitting at the table next to me. She responded by giving me the crazy«stank eye».(See here: ) In her mind, she probably wanted to shut me up. lol. BUTMAN, I was happy as the first time I defeated Vega on Street Fighter II, or when I beat Kris Humphries –the dude that married Kim Kardashian for like a month– one-on-one, 5 – 3, on his driveway.(He was my next-door neighbor in high school.) I tried saving my other half, but I ate it while driving down Lake Street and almost rear-ended a semi. This almost happened to me a couple of weeks ago in Saint Paul, too. #readmyreviewoftrungnam #eatingwhiledrivingishelladangerousyo #wishhashtagsworkedonyelp I read that some of the other Unilocalers didn’t like the chips. That’s cool! But for me, I don’t subtract«points» from food joints’ sides or appetizers unless they are really terrible. I visited Manny’s Tortas for the sandwich and nothing else. I’ve destroyed better tortas in Killa Cali, but for the Twin Cities this is pretty damn amazing.

I thought the torta was small for the price I paid. I was still hungry, so I hungrily ate the chips that came with my meal. It wasn’t even a good pairing because it was american chips with«latin» food. I come from LA, where the food is more authentic, and while I don’t bash this place, I don’t think it’s a gem. Perhaps if you really need to eat a Torta, go ahead and try this, but I’d go elsewhere. The saving item of my experience was the mango soda.

YUM thats for sure. The ingredients are fresh and the bread is warm and toasty. Located in the Midtown Global market and they offer a nice seating area. Also free parking in the ramps up to 3 hours. I heard all about Manny’s too many times and since I was at the global market I decided to give Manny’s a chance and discovered what a great place to grab a sandwich. Yes they are a bit pricey but let me tell ya its well worth the few extra dollars that you pay from a subway sandwich or any other place. The moment you bit into the tortas its warm, the veggies and sauces are spread out evenly to make a kick in the mouth that will make you devour everything up.

I had never had a Mexican sandwich(torta) before and let me tell you, Manny’s does it right! I don’t give 5 stars to extremely casual places very often but this place definitely deserves the praise. This was my first meal in Minneapolis and it started the trip off well. Tucked between many other hole in the wall restaurant booths from around the globe in the Midtown Global Market, Manny’s is a small gem. Makes me wish I had more time to explore the diverse Market! I had the«Special” — a pork sandwich with marinated pork, ham, jalapenos, veggies, cheese, avocado and grilled onions. Reminiscent of a tlyuda, the torta was amazing. I couldn’t stop raving about it. Obviously still can’t. The man working at the sandwich place(owner?) was very helpful in helping me pick out a torta I would enjoy. The sandwich was a bit pricier than your normal sandwich at $ 9, but well worth it. I could only finish a bit more than half of mine. I would recommend traveling(half way across the country perhaps?) to give Manny’s a try. This makes me sad I don’t live closer. I will be dreaming about you, Manny’s! Until next time…
