This is one of the most beautiful parks in the Twin Cities. In the summer it is full of couples having wedding photos taken, and little kid’s birthday parties. The rose garden is in full bloom in mid-June and is breathtaking. I have many fond memories taking nice walks here and I hope you find that it brings you the same.

It’s a small fenced in garden that has rows of roses. It’s flat. The roses are typically covered in mating insects(beetles). However, there is a wide variety and unique selection of species. There are no climbing roses or trellises, though. just bush roses. I appreciate the old Art Deco copper water fountains near the rose ensemble. They are patina ridden and antiqued, gorgeous! A few stone benches accompany the centerpiece fountain with a collection of wild flowers surrounding in a circular garden. What makes this garden desirable is the location. Right near the lakes and the Chinese origami crane garden. In April/may when the cherry trees are in prime it’s breathe taking. If you can, take advantage of the enchantment while they are in bloom. They don’t last long with the random bipolar Minnesota weather.

One of my favorite rose garden in the US! Reminds me a bit of the Rose Garden in Regents Park, London where I use to frequent with my mother when I was a young girl. Lyndale park rise garden is absolutely gorgeous. The colors are vibrant and the flowers look fresh and lively. There are name tags which are helpful if you want to know the names of the roses and other flowers. There is a regal Roman-inspired fountain and the sounds of the water falling coupled with the sight of beautiful roses makes for a peaceful afternoon. Every time I am in Minneapolis/St Paul for work I always make time to come here(except for in the winter of course). It’s the perfect afternoon to walk around Lake Harriet, entertain your senses in the rose garden and then have a meal somewhere in the Lyn/Lake district, followed by a cup of coffee at Common Grounds. This has become my Minneapolis ritual when I am lucky to get work out there!

Best Rose Garden in Minneapolis and right next to Lake Harriet. Tons of roses of different types and colors. This is a must see each summer. The best time to come is in July. It’s a photographer’s dream! There is also a Japanese zen garden in the area as well. This would be a great place for a romantic picnic.
