Went here a couple weeks ago looking for some carnitas. My fiancé and I were the only ones in the restaurant, and the waiter tried to push alcoholic drinks despite it being lunchtime on a weekday. We both ordered the carnitas chimichangas. The chips and salsa were good, they seemed fresh and homemade. However, the major problems began when the chimichangas arrived. My fiancé’s had not one, but TWO whole toothpicks inside of his. Nearly got one stuck in his throat after biting part of it off. After showing the waiter, we got some explanation about how they are to hold the chimichanga together, and not a real apology. The carnitas also were pretty terrible; dry, tough little chunks of pork that tasted freezer-burnt. Even after the toothpick fiasco, the waiter pushed us to order dessert(we didn’t) and gave us a 20%-off-if-we-return-in-1-month coupon instead of an apology or discount for the dangerous food. Don’t go here unless its only to drink alcohol.

It was very good. I like the vibe. Not what you would expect from the outside. It is definitely worth a try. I recommend the fajitas.

Super fun place on a Friday night. The atmosphere is fun, everyone is friendly, and the dance floor is packed. Excellent margaritas made by friendly bartenders. The nachos, and most importantly the guacamole on the nachos, were the best I’ve ever had. Tequila comprised about 85% of what the bar offered so don’t go expecting anything else. My only complaint is that the music was excessively loud.

I think my boyfriend said it best– this place is weird. We went for a late dinner(9pm) on a Monday night. The lights were way down low, the reggaeton was blasting, and the strobe lights were bouncing. I guess it’s also a place to get your groove on. It was dead as a doornail, besides us, there were 3 people in the joint, all seated at the bar. Our server brought out chips and(WARM) salsa. I don’t get it. Why was the salsa hot? Is that something that people do? So confused! The drinks are cheap– I got a Modelo for $ 4 and he got a margarita for $ 3. We started with the queso fundido, which was pretty delicious. However, it was served with soft tortilla shells. Again. I was so confused. How was I supposed to eat this queso dip? I ended up spooning the dip onto a tortilla and rolling it up. I honestly had no idea. For our entrees, I got the enchilada combination. This was actually really good, which surprised me after the strange start to the meal. I got 2 chicken enchiladas with red sauce and cheese. They were actually kind of dry, I prefer mine with lots of sauce and cheese. The steak taco that came with was amazing– grilled steak with onions and cilantro on a small tortilla shell. So good! Also rice and beans were a delicious side. Jordan got the burrito covered in queso blanco. The menu lists the meats in Spanish, so he didn’t understand what to get.(Tinga? Pastor? Asada?) He ended up getting the steak(asada). I didn’t try any, but he said it was alright. All in all? Low prices, strange atmosphere, hit-or-miss with the food. Good luck.

After receiving warm salsa and a half basket of chips I was very hesitant to stay, but did for the Unilocal community. The menu looks like something out of a coloring book and the options on the menu made me want to leave. Nothing very exciting about this place. The food was blah. Flavorless and somewhat strange. The queso dip was gross. Who puts ground beef in queso dip? My burrito was fatter than my forearm and tasted mostly like re-fried beans. I asked about their happy hour. She responded, «Beers & margaritas are $ 3.» then I asked«What days & hours are those specials?» the waitress responded, «all day, every day! A permanent happy hour.» Um, I dont think they know what happy hour means? The food was at such a low quality that I wont be visiting again. …maybe for their«Happy Hour!»

I don’t know how this restaurant has such good reviews, it was THEWORST restaurant I have ever been to. We arrived at about 7:40 and the restaurant was about 75% full. We got a table for 4 and were brought a basket of chips with probably 20 chips in it. Along with the chips came«salsa». A bowl of watery green luke-warm flavorless«salsa». When the waitress came to take our order we asked for another minute to review the menu. She came back 15 mins. later after we grabbed her attention, she also took our empty basket of chips. An HOUR went by and we still had no food. We weren’t even brought another basket of chips. The couple at the table next to us(who had been there longer than us) got up and left. At this time the restaurant was thinning out and most the customers were at the bar. Our waitress came over to our table and told us it would be 10 more minutes. We asked for more chips because we were starving. After an hour and 20 mins we finally got our food. Surprise, surprise my order was wrong. I dealt with it and at it anyways. The food was awful and cold but we were all so hungry that we ate it faster than the time it took out waitress to re-fill a soda. Something had to be wrong that night because I can’t imagine any restaurant with this horrible of food and service to stay in business. An acknowledgment or apology for the extremely slow service would have been nice, but none was given. I will definitely not be back.

I fee like it’s the new hidden Mexican gem in Minneapolis. I don’t think many people know about it, but it’s got a great vibe and good food.
