History

Established in 1967.

Litin Party was established by Ned Litin, whose father started the Minneapolis based paper distribution and converting company Litin Paper, which has been in business since 1947. Don, Ned’s father, would purchase old rail cars filled with a plethora of mixed goods. At first it was just a side business to keep Don entertained, but word spread and the customers started pouring in to shuffle through the items, party supplies were a common product to be available. After seeing the demand of returning customers, Ned saw the need to establish a business to cater to the ever increasing traffic. Litin Party has since developed into it’s own entity and even has it’s own website to cater to the national level. Litin Party still prides itself in it’s product selection and prices, providing any event planner the ability to get everything they need under one roof. Litin Party is open for retail, online, and also has commercial accounts available for businesses. Litin Party is your one-​stop-​shop!

Business Owner

Ned Litin is owner and founder of Litin Party. He established the business in 1967, branching out from his family business Litin Paper. He understands the importance of his customers and his number one goal is to provide quality customer service, something lacking in today’s retail world. He currently lives in Minden, Nevada at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, but returns to Minneapolis during the store’s busy seasons. He is constantly trying to stay relevant in an ever changing market, and has managed to not only survive, but thrive alongside the corporate retail giants.

In the past few months, I’ve been involved in planning 2 bridal showers and a 30th birthday party.
I have always gone to Party City in NE Minneapolis for my party supply needs, but I find it on the expensive side, so I searched Unilocal to see if there were any other party stores in the area. Turns out Litin is less than a mile from where I live — perfect!
I ventured over to LitIn and was pleasantly surprised to see that they have a designated parking lot (although there were plenty of meters on the street as well since it is not Farmer’s market season).
Annie D. was right — this is like a Costco of party supplies! The store has decorations for almost every theme you can imagine — from graduation, to 4th of July, President’s Day, luau, etc… One side of the store also has plates, napkins, silverware, and other decorations sorted by color. There are also tons of wedding and shower decorations, gift wrapping and office supplies, and even baking supplies.
The store also has a large balloon section — I bought 3 balloon bouquets for the 30th birthday party, and the salesperson was very helpful in explaining the many, many options and prices.
Prices were very reasonable, and with a selection this large, I know I’ll be back at Litin again and again.

The only thing I buy from Litin are basic Kraft shopping bags in bulk that I use for business, this brings me in every couple of weeks. The store has like 15 more categories of products than you would ever expect. They do indeed have cardboard cut-​outs if you wanna get weird, and an entire section for purple which is stocked only with purple things, but they also have many non-​ridiculous things as well. I have looked everywhere online and in town and haven’t found a better deal than Litin once shipping is taken into consideration. The kicker is that Litin is not a franchise, not a chain, and still beats party city right in the face! Buy local while you still have a choice!

This place is for super savvy party throwers. Cheap. Wide selection. There is everything you need here. I went looking for construction themed items for my son’s 2nd birthday. Not only did I get good directions there (DO. NOT LISTEN TO THAT JERK SIRI) from «Mike» I was also directed around the store by some cutie.
When I got home I learned that my sleeping angel in the back seat had ejected our house keys into the floor or shelving somewhere back at the store. So we drive back there discussing how important mom’s keys are and when we arrive the young man behind the counter says «oh these that I have been harassing everyone about!»
Yep. Those are the ones. Thank you again.

This place has everything for your party needs. A vast assortment of themes, balloons, graduation, wedding etc. They also have a lot of catering things in bulk as well as packaging materials. Service is fantastic as well.

Litin gets all the stars from me! If there’s someone reading this that knows a better brick and mortar to purchase party supplies from, please let me know…
I visited last week looking for some western themed props. I called them, and the nice guy on the phone told me «we literally have everything you could ever want.» Skeptical, I had to see for myself.
Wow! This gigantic warehouse really does hold just about everything. In the main room, I found a whole western section which featured plastic wheels, mustaches, sheriff’s badges, cowboy hats, bandannas, the whole nine! They even had cactus and boot pinatas! There are other themed sections too dedicated to your favorite local sports team, popular cartoons, etc…
Hanging on the walls above are cardboard cutouts of famous people and things such as R2D2 and Michael Jordan. Pretty cool.
There’s another large room that has more general, non-​themed party supplies such as paper plates, plastic cups, silly string, etc…
Regarding the price, I found it to be very generous in comparison to other party stores.
I highly recommend Litin!

Woah, this place is my new candyland.
I stopped by to get some supplies for my wedding, because I looked at their prices online and found that they could not be beat. (And believe me, I am a price-​comparer!)
Its huge. Thankfully there are some signs above the aisles to guide you. I pretty much wandered around the entire store, even looking at things I don’t need.
I bought a bunch of plates/​napkins/​cups for my wedding, but also noted that they have a ton of office supplies, balloons, and even candles!
They have a parking lot, which is sometimes a rare find in downtown.
Basically, my entire wedding is residing in this area. Go to the Farmer’s Market for wedding flowers, the Paper Depot for invites, and Litin Everything Party ‘n Paper for supplies.
My work is done. Check this place out.

I recently went there for party supplies, I was suprised by the selection and how low the prices were. This place is huge and is a one stop shop for any party needs. It is a little difficult to find, but they have a big parking lot and it was well worth the trip. The staff was friendly and helpful and I will definatley be back for my next party.

I just was sent here on a job errand, and I am so glad I know about this place now! It is kind of in a strange location, not really somewhere you would drive by everyday, so this place kind of goes under the radar as far as party supply shops go.
I love that they have a couple different types of tablecloths, paper-​lined and plastic lined, plus table skirts, and place mats in a bunch of different colors. Plus, they seem to have very reasonable prices… it actually feels like you are shopping wholesale!
They also seem to have an excellent selection of balloons and other party favors… I can’t wait to come back here to shop for my own parties!

They have a huge selection of party supplies at reasonable prices. Much of it is listed on their website, and you can order it to be ready for pick up. However when going and browsing I have found a larger selection than I found online. They have craft supplies too.
The website also usually has a coupon available for in store purchases, making the prices even more reasonable.
I’m glad I found this place, and will be going back again the next time I am planning an event. I wish they were open a little later on the weekends.

If you think Party City is the only place to go for party supplies, think again. Litin is like a Sam’s Club/​Costco of all things party. And it’s cheaper. And, for me at least, it’s way more convenient. And it’s downtown, but in the part that has free parking.
They have every color of ribbon imaginable, all kinds of party dinnerware and gear like piñatas, poodle skirts, leis, wrapping paper, hula hoops, any kind of disposable cup you can think of, life-​size celebrity cut-​outs, red carpets, santa suits, gift boxes and all manner of sparkly things.
The Unilocal Elites can attest, I like balloons. I’m not that into other party décor that’s just going to go in the garbage after two hours, but there’s something classy AND fun about balloons. At Litin, they will blow your balloons up for about ½ the price of Corner Balloon on Hennepin. It’s actually less than getting a tank of helium and doing it yourself!
It’s a big store, so be prepared to ask the staff questions or just explore for a while.

This is where to go to get bubble wrap and party supplies. They have any kind of party favor (wholesome don’t ya know) for gallery shows, weddings, office parties and the like. If you need bulk they have it. Note some of there prices are not as good as they should be when buying bulk but it is one stop shopping.
