I like the tamales, I come here frequently and have introduced it to others. However, like the most recent comment before mine, I had an issue clarifying my receipt with the workers. It took several minutes to resolve, and the women working talked about me in Spanish as I stood there. Makes me uncomfortable to return, but I will. I will be on the look out for a new cashier ;)

I hate to say Traders Joe’s have better tamales which they won’t use pork lard to make them and still have an excellent taste without heavy animal fat and well made. I had an incident in which they sold me «vegetarian» tamales which they happened to be chicken tamales, even showing them the receipt and the marked container of «v» tamales, still would deny that they sold me the wrong kind and kept talking among themselves, pretty much playing stupid, even when I speak Spanish and I could communicate they were not recognizing their mistake, how could my own people do this? instead of talking to a manager or just exchanging it for the right kind or a simple apology, I got handed over business card of «la Loma» and told me to call to see what can they do with a shoulder shrug, there was not the name of a person to call or anything but I was left to figure out on my own when it wasn’t my mistake… After going to the second location and explaining what happened a very nice lady talk to them on the phone making them realize their mistake, all this running around back to the Global Market location finally they gave me the right kind of tamales, later on I came to find out that this so call«vegetarian» were not and did contain pork lard whe on their menu does not states that do contain pork lard. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to make a vegetarian tamale but it takes good skills from the real Mexican culinary cuisine without using pork lard to cook everything. Please respect others diets and be honest on what you sell.

Pretty good tamales, pretty bad service even tho they don’t need to do much for you. The ladies seem to hate their customers. I have tried the tamales and they’re really good, a little dry so hot sauce makes all the difference(even tho I think they charge extra for sauce??) They have daily deals, I’ve tried the Wednesday deal, not too impressed. I’ll post a picture of the daily deals sign since I don’t think it’s on their website

BOMB tamales. Went here about 12:30 on a weekday and was surprised there was no line. Ordered one each of Oaxaca Pork, Pork, and Chicken. I liked them in that order, but all were good. The ladies were friendly, the food was awesome, price was right, and I will be back.

Burrito bland and dry… Not up to par with tamales. Plus they won’t even give you a cup of water’

Love that the Minneapolis location has a daily special menu in the Northstar Building on the first floor. The tamales are fabulous and the line can get a bit long, so try to arrive early or later. There is no seating, so be sure to grab a seat in the courtyard. Extras are extra $ so you’re aware!

If you want more than your run-of-the-mill Subway footlong lunch — no disrespect to Jared — come to La Loma Tamales. I’ve been to this particular spot a couple times now(a few more time at the Medical Arts location) and even though there’s always a line, the ladies of LLT keep it moving fast with a smile, so you better know what you want. As an introduction to La Loma, you can’t go wrong with their tamal plate: 2 tamales of your choice(except if you get the Oaxaca you only get one), with a side of pinto or black beans and fragrant rice. I’m pretty sure I’ve tried the pork, chicken, corn, and Oaxaca tamales; not all in the same meal, though. I’m not that gorda. The savory tamales are great, although the tamal can sometimes be a tad dry, particularly the chicken. No worries, you can always pour over their delicious salsa(extra charge), or dunk it into the dreamy pinto beans, as I do. The corn tamal is probably one of the best I’ve had; it’s dense and packed with golden kernels, has just the right amount of sweetness, but savory enough that you can put a little salsa on top and it works perfectly. The Oaxaca tamal is a bit on the spicier side, but incredibly saucy and you can’t say it’s not packed with flavor. In fact, that’s the theme for their entire menu: kicky and flavorful. More so than your standard bleached flour hoagies from Jimmy Johns — again, I’m not railing against sandwiches, they’re just such an easy target.

Love this place… my favorite tamales. I usually go for lunch at the NorthStar location, but I’ve also visited their Midtown Global Market location. I’ve even bought them at the Minneapolis Farmers Market on Lyndale – they’re practically everywhere. The NorthStar location is great because it’s located conveniently on the first floor in a food court, and it’s connected to the rest of the buildings downtown by skyway. I rarely stray away from my go-to, the pork tamales, which are super moist and tasty. Oaxaca(spicy chicken) is worth a try, but beware they definitely have a kick. Probably my favorite part about La Loma is their salsa verde – the green sauce is out of this world!

I ordered a burrito with«spicy» chicken and it was about as bland as it comes. The tortillas were fresh but otherwise I’d put it a notch below the chain places like Chipotle.

They normally miss putting your entire order in your bag«by mistake». I wouldn’t trust the food they’re making!

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I was staying at the Crown Plaza hotel and wanted mexican food… I went there based on their reviews. Never again. Ordered tamales and chips/salsa/guac, paid, walked 20 feet to a small table at the food court. Opened the bag of chips, no salsa or Guac. Opened the tamales container, no salsa or Guac. Went the 20 feet back to the counter with the receipt to let them politely know they’d forgotten half the order. Prisma the manager informed me «she remembers placing the salsa and Guac in the bag»…so I apparently lost them in the 20 feet to the table. She was obnoxiously combative and said I had the receipt and I could call the number and give her name. Abysmal costumer service. Disgusting place. Mediocre food. 0 stars

In the Northstar skyway, downstairs in the food court. The only ‘real’ Mexican food I’ve seen in the skyway(Taco John’s definitely does not count). It’s also one of the cheaper places and, while there was a line during peak lunch time, the wait was minimal. While it’s not my favourite type of Mexican food(this is very western or central Mexico so more sweet and bland than savoury and spicy) it was very good. While I was disappointed they were out of chicken tamales, the sweet corn tamale was really good, especially when I poured my beans over it for extra flavour. Everything seems very fresh and home made. I definitely recommend this place if you want a break from the barrage of pizza and Asian food offered in the skyway.

Once I figured out you had to walk into the Northstar Center building to find this place, we placed our order. The service was fast and the food was delicious. Great value

Umm… how many places in the skyway can you spend less than $ 10, get amazing food and not have to wait more than 5 minutes? Yeah…not many places… BUT, La Loma is one of those hidden gems :-) I got the daily special, which included 3 fried meat tamals, side salad and rice… had to get the jalapenos!!! Of course, had to get a tamale… pork of course… can never go wrong. Everything I’ve eaten here has never been terrible, always fresh, served with a smile and you know everything was made with care. The tamales are filled to the max with meat, wrapped in tasty masa… steamed to perfection. Super simple, nothing crazy… simple in this case is best. #amazing Do it… you know you want to! Seating available just around the corner from La Loma… but get there early as it fills up fast.

I can’t believe I have worked downtown for so long and never ate here until now. I have eaten here twice now in the past few months and I am a huge fan of their tamales. I haven’t anything else so this review is just for them. I have had the pork, beef and sweet corn and I like them all. Stuffing is seasoned very well and comes out fresh and hot. If you crave guacamole, theirs is pretty good with freshly made tortilla chips. You can tell it is made from real tortillas since they are a but thicker than most. Each tamale is between 2 – 3 dollars. Very good price for a filling meal

The food was ok, the rice bland, the beans bland. Everything looked a bit dry, so I asked for salsa and they charged me. two Tamale’s with rice and beans was nearly $ 9.00 Over all, the flavor of the tamales was good, so I think a better deal would be to buy the packs of take home tamales and serve with your own rice and beans.

I got a Oaxaca and a pork tamale. I’m glad I ate the pork first and saved the best for last! It was scrumptious, so much so that I bought a frozen pack of Oaxaca tamales. I haven’t decided if I’m going to take them home for my husband to try or save them for myself at work for another day. In all, it wasn’t quite the $ 16 tamale I had at Masa on Friday, but it was darn close!
