I ate here a number of times, and while the prices were high, the food was very good and the atmosphere excellent. The Roquefort gnocchi and their shrimp pasta dish were our favorites. And I never had a small dish I didn’t like. The decore was light and open, something you don’t see much. The light wood furniture, high ceiling, festive lighting, and big front windows kept the ambiance energized.

This place is not good. But if they have deals on the wine, sit on the side walk tables and booze it up, you won’t notice how plain the food is.

I am torn with La Bodega. The first time I went there we sat in the older section, had a great selection of Tapas and a couple drinks and were quite happy(it was happy hour and half off). Last night we went again for«happy hour» and ordered 4 tapas and 4 drinks. The bill came to over $ 70!!! Apparently happy hour only applies to summer hours. Also, the new clubby section sucks and the lighting is so bad that you can barely read the menus. In addition, the food seems to have a severe drop off in quality.

Me and my fiancé tried to enter La Bodega and were turned away by the bouncer who said that it was a private party. Unfortuneatly for us, the waitress just happened to walk by and seated us in the other section of the restaraunt before we had a chance to escape. This was the best service we had from her all night. The food was reaaaally bad. I had the spanish potatoe tortilla, and my fiancé had something with clams in it. Both tasted to us like frozen entrees. She said her dish tasted«watered down». We ate outside, because the AC was so cold we could not stand to be in the restaraunt. The whole time, there was someone who we thought was loitering sitting there talking to the wait staff. It turns out he apparently is an employee. This made it hard to enjoy the evening, as well as it distracted the staff from attending to us. The waitress offered us something else in return for our meals we didn’t like, but we were ready to leave at that point. She failed, however, to even give us a discount off of our bill. Stay away from this place!

I’d heard that I MUST go here because of the tapas so I made the trek with the horrible road construction going on and ended up grabbing one of the MANY open seats. This was a Saturday night, too… usually a time when you would think a restaurant with this«hype» would be packed. Alas, there was some«live» music there but found it to be a bit too disruptive. Ordered a bunch of tapas… all were mediocre and tasted quite bland. The only good thing was the pitcher of Sangria– I did, however, enjoy the bread with vinegar/oil. But I can whip this up on my own kitchen. I would say as far as tapas goes, a forgettable restaurant. They need to do something to spice it up.

2 stars because my first date with my husband was here. We got loaded on wine and white russians(ugh, my stomach curdles thinking about it). I think the food blows in general, and they need to figure out what they are doing with the adjoining space – whatever the flavor of the month is over there isn’t working. I would only recommend this place to someone who was looking for ½ price bottles of wine during the summer, when you can sit outdoors.

Went here a while back for tapas and wine. The food was very blah and overpriced for what it was. They had a pretty good wine selection, though, which was probably the only positive. And at one point during dinner, a homeless man walked into the restaurant. As far as I’m concerned, he had every right to at least walk in — he could have wanted to pay to eat for all anybody knew — but the management forcefully made him leave, and were none too polite about it. It was just not a pleasant experience and I will never go back to give it a 2nd chance.

We went on a Monday evening because we had this coupon from the«Entertainment Book». I guess the reason why they are giving away free food coupons is because the food sucks. There was only one other party in the restaurant. We ordered bruschetta(I know, not an obvious choice in a Spanish restaurant but my husband loves it), potato and cheese croquettas, shrimp in garlic and wine sauce and some crispy chicken. First of all, the bruschetta was the best thing, but how can you really mess up on that? The croquettas were burnt, the shrimp wasn’t anything special and we couldn’t even cut through the chicken because it was so overcooked. I wish I would have complained, but my husband is too nice and he wouldn’t let me. The waiter was this tiny soft spoken man and I’m not sure if he would have taken it too well.

There is a reason La Bodega was dead when we went on Sunday during happy hour. It is gross. We ordered drinks(which were good, in fairness) and calamari(usually a no brainer) and caprese salad. The caprese had no balsamic vinegar on it(that is a key ingredient dude!) and the calamari had a cold tomato sauce with it, in addition to tasting like it had been frozen and then flash fried. Thinking we had merely ordered two crappy things, we then opted to try the chorizo con polenta and these potato-cheese things. The potato cheese things were more frozen-then-flash-fried starchy yuckiness, and the chorizo was burnt and the polenta had a tough skin. OMG, ew. We then told our server we didn’t like them, at which point he told us that he would take them back to the kitchen and TRY them, he did so and came back to tell us that to him they tasted fine. We had to pay for them, despite the fact that we had one bite of each. BTW, who I believe was the owner was there as well and saw the whole thing. Whatever. I will NEVER go back here and from the emptiness of the place it looks as though many concur. Ugh.

I have only eaten here once, but I really liked it and will be back. La Bodega has a fairly good selection of items on their tapas menu in addition to their main dishes. I was unable to sample any of the tapas because I opted for one of their specials that night, which was a ravioli and it was very good. I also ordered a mojito, which was a bit on the pricey side, but excellent. The inside of the restaurant has a hip décor and there is a fair amount of sidewalk seating as well. La Bodega would probably be an excellent place to have a happy hour because of the tapas. (There are some pictures of topless women inside and while they are black and white artistic shots, some may find them offensive. They are not displayed in such a way that they are very noticeable).
