Konawerks Hair Shop started out as a small two chair barber shop next to a strip bar. When the building shut down, it forced a move to a better location with room to grow. We’ve added really strong and talented stylists that make Konawerks a better place.

As always, Konawerks is part Barber Shop, part Salon and part Clubhouse! We are becoming THE spot for neighborhood information in addition to getting your hair and nails done!

Jason has over 20 years experience in the hair business. He has been an employee, independent contractor, manager and owner throughout his career. Jason has a vast knowledge on hair coloring from educating and doing platform work for Schwarzkopf for over five years.

I followed my stylist Sarah to Konawerks. She has my hair style memorized and cuts it perfectly every time. The atmosphere of the shop is very positive and welcoming and I have not once seen an unsatisfied customer. I really enjoy/​appreciate that they support local artists by displaying their work. The shop has a very true NE Minneapolis feel.

I recently switched salons and I moved to Konawerks because they had great reviews and it’s close to my house. I found Shana and I’m super happy I did! She does some great work with my brows, color and cut! She is up to date on current styles but also listens to what you want! She is extremely personable and you get to enjoy an adult beverage when you are getting your hair done :). They also have someone who specializes in dudes hair!

This shop goes above and beyond any hair place I have ever been. All the stylists are amazing and make you feel so welcomed as soon as you walk in the door. My favourite so far has been Erin. She is the adorable pink haired lady dripping in class with a touch of sass. She is really good at ombré coloring for bright colors. I’m a black to red and it always looks amazing. She was very honest with me and took the time to answer all my questions about product. Thanks for being so patient Erin!

First time at Konawerks was a great experience. They offer adult beverages, a laid back atmosphere, and quality work without the snobbery. Only thing they could use more of is lighting (natural, preferred; and this is only because they’re cutting my hair – a rather visual, precise activity).
I ended up at Konawerks thanks to Shana Butler, who I’ve been going to for haircuts for the past 3 years, since she stepped into this great state. I go in and let her do what she thinks is best because she’s great at what she does – I don’t need to do the work when I have her making my hairstyle choices. Also, she gives me kickass haircuts based on my «absolutely no work or maintenance» policy. She makes my hair look like it takes a lot of effort, without all the actual effort involved.
In conclusion, go see Shana. She’s a great conversationalist, as well.

I can’t say enough about the marvel that is Shana. Her work is creative and capable, and her company is awesome. After suffering a short cut that looked great in the salon and absurd whenever I tried to style it, seeing Shana changed completely how I feel about my hair, since she recognized that it’s actually curly. I totally trust her artistic judgment and her skillful cutting, and recommend her to everybody.

These folks are true artists. I love the pics they post on their Facebook page of their work. All the guys with their sharp looking haircuts and the ladies with their AMAZING haircolor! I’ve never wanted to color my hair, but after seeing what they can do at this shop — I am VERY tempted to go in. They play cool music here too and it’s very laid back and casual. I love it. I’ve also taken my kids to get their haircut here, so it’s kid friendly too. oh, and make sure you call for an appointment if you want to go on a weekend — they book up fast!

Shana has been my stylist for a couple of years now, and she recently made the move to Konawerks. I instantly felt at home when walking into the salon, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Shana is a phenomenal stylist. Do you ever leave a salon feeling amazing, only to wash your hair later and never be able to get it just right again? Never will that happen with Shana! She not only does a great job to begin with, but she makes sure to answer any styling questions and gives great advice. With the wine, great company, and fun environment, taking a trip to Konawerks is my mini vacation.

I recently followed my fav stylist Shana Butler to Konawekrs from Foiled Again Salon. She’s been my hair stylist for years and I’d follow her anywhere but boy am I glad she picked Konawerks! Super convenient location on Lowry (right under Betty Danger’s new Ferris wheel) and they have a rad laid back atmosphere (not stuffy at all!)
Shana does my color awesome and my cut is always super fresh. Glad to have the same great stylist in a cool new shop.

Beer and a haircut for a reasonable price, what’s not to like? Jason and I talked at length about Batman while I received a beer shampoo treatment. You can refer a friend and get a deal! It was easy to make an appointment and overall good experience. My style after the haircut could have been a little more fun but otherwise no complaints.

I followed Anya from a New Brighton salon to Konawerks because I really liked her haircuts. Anya takes time, listens well to clients, and I always leave with a haircut style that is both stylish and easy to maintain at home. Anya also tops off her shampoos with a hair massage much to the relaxation of clients. The setting of the salon is artsy with a Northeast Mpls vibe and they even have a pool table for the enjoyment of the salon clients.
