I think Hop’s really is the only place which I’ve found which treats people with care. Hop really has a touch when she cuts your hair. it is very easy to realize that she is great at what she does! Extremely good! To contrast Great Clips or Pro Cuts for example have extremely incompetent and rude staff who just chop off hair like it is a race against time. This really is the only good place in Dinky town to get a hair cut!

Do you want an awesome haircut? Do you want to pay a reasonable price? Do you want an experienced stylist? Do you want to support a small business run by a woman? YES. I DO. I am so excited about the haircut that I got today that I couldn’t wait to Unilocal about it. I have been looking for an affordable, experienced stylist for a long time and I am so excited to have found one. After Groupon-hopping for years I can’t wait to keep coming back to Hop(seriously no pun intended).

If you’re a dude just go to another barber in the area and thank me later.

Another great salon I’ve found for haircuts! I live on the UMN campus and wanted a nice haircut within walking distance. Hop’s Salon is where it’s at– no need to venture out to Uptown or Northeast. The salon isn’t fancy(no free drinks, spa-y smells, etc) but it’s clean and cheery and run by a wonderful woman. Hop was very friendly to me and made me feel welcome during my first visit. And, she did a good job with my thick hair! For a professional shampoo, cut and style, the price was almost half of what I usually pay at other salons. I recommend this salon and will be back in the future.

I had my hair cut at Hop’s Salon twice this year. Hop is a talented hairdresser and she is very friendly. The cut always look good and grows back nicely as well. I can easily become a regular there.

This is a place you go when you don’t have 45 $ to spend at a good salon, but you have 25 $ dollars to waste. Not going back there. Not so polite and inexperienced.

Moving back to Minneapolis in 2011 led to unexpected but happy reunions. Like Hop Bui. I first met Hop in 2001 when she owned U Salon in a storefront below my Stadium Village apartment. She cut and styled my hair for the following four years, until I left for grad school. So, I was thrilled to find her in Dinktyown at her new salon. She’s cut my hair for six years now, and if you ask me, it’s a cut above the rest.

I have been to Hop’s Salon 2 times now and I have always enjoyed the experience. I live in NE Minneapolis and know that there are many hair salons in Dinkytown. Last Fall I needed a haircut at a reasonable price so I came to the area and started asking people where I could get a good haircut. In one of the bike shops both of the guys that worked there recommended Hop’s Salon. It is located in DinkyDale and there is usually a folding sign in front that says Haircuts Special. The salon is large, clean and inviting. Hop has always been fun to talk to and she is a very good hair stylist. In fact, after my first haircut I was standing in a checkout line at Cub Foods and a person commented on how cool my haircut was(that has never happened to me before). If you want a great haircut, good price and a stylist you can return to for consistency, this is the place.

Hop gives me the best haircuts I’ve ever had for a great price. She is friendly, her salon is clean, and the Chinese place next door makes for a great post-styling lunch. Hop’s Salon is a best-kept secret near the U — students get discounts!

Hop, the namesake and owner, offers haircuts, waxing, styling, etc. The haircut specials are very well priced for someone like Hop who has been in the industry for years. I’ve gotten my hair cut a few times, and came out with a good cut for a very good price. Hop can be friendly and chatty. Her place is well kept, clean, and modern/trendy. Though if you’re like me and are low maintenance, do expect getting lectured for not keeping up with yourself or coming in regularly lol. «Oh honey, you need to come back soon. And need to get [x] done» haha. While it can be funny at times, I don’t like being told such things. Although I like Hop and have gotten some good hair cuts, I’ve decided to not go back anymore because of a bad experience the last time I saw her when I got an eyebrow wax. That experience also made me realize that this place wasn’t meeting my needs and expectations. During my last visit, she kept on complaining about how thick my eyebrows were, how I waited too long to get them done, and proceeded to get wax on my favorite shirt and on my face which was a very uncomfortable experience. I’ve never been through such an experience which was a bit embarrassing. While some stylists have had difficulty with my hair and have complained, they never made me feel bad. Unfortunately, Hop has made me feel bad and uncomfortable. If cutting thick hair is not your suit, then don’t do it. I’ve gotten some really good haircuts and wax jobs at other places with no complaints. I have decided that I want to go to a place where people make me feel good about myself. Perhaps I am strange for this, but when I get salon services, I also want to sit back, relax, and unwind. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t fit my needs, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good place. A few of my friends go here regularly and love it. These experiences are subjective, and we all have our personal preferences.
