Five Element Martial Arts & Healing Center is a 501©3 non profit educational organization dedicated to the empowerment of of all people through the martial arts, wellness, personal safety/self-defense training so we may have a more peaceful community/planet.
Classes in: Gongfu, Iaido, Judo, Jujitsu, Yoga, Kajukenbo, Taiji, Qigong, Wu Chien Pai, and Wushu.
History
Established in 1989.
FEMA was founded November 15, 1989 by Kore’ Grate with the assistance of Kellie Rose Jones. Through the vision and leadership of Kore’ Grate as FEMA’s Executive Director & Head Instructor and all the dedicated assistant instructors & students, FEMA celebrates over 20 years in the South Minneapolis community.

FEMA’s Executive Director and Head Instructor, Koré Grate, began training in the martial arts in 1971 at the age of 16.
In 1981 she started training at Wu Tao Kuan with Dr./Shifu Alex Feng. She received her first black belt in Wu Chien Pai in 1991. In January of 1988, Koré followed her heart to Minneapolis and one year later began FEMA with the assistance of Kellie Rose Jones. Shifu Koré was promoted to her 6th degree black belt in Wu Chien Pai on September 6, 2007.
Koré is a founding board member of the Pacific Association of Women Martial Artists (PAWMA). In 2005 she received PAMWA’s Martial Artist of the Year award, and in 2011 she received PAWMA’s highest honor: The Lifetime Achievment Award.
Koré has taught Martial Arts and Self-Defense/Empowerment workshops and seminars to thousands of women, children, teens, seniors, differently-abled and men in the community on both coasts. She is a Nationally Certified Self Defense Instructor.
