First Universalist Church of Minneapolis

We are so fortunate to have such a large and vibrant UU congregation here in the Twin Cities. First Universalist really is a flagship. The worship services are creative and often full of music. The preaching inspires and challenges out of a true place of love. The circle groups offer spiritual depth and a warm, smaller group environment to meet people. Religious education is brimming with kids. The congregation is committed to social justice (actually doing it!). I’m especially impressed with the anti-​racism work that’s going on and the partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
First U has gotten a lot bigger these past few years, and I think it is going through a bit of growing pains as it figures out how to be a large congregation. But for me, that makes it really exciting.

We’ve been coming to this church for about two years now, and it still holds great appeal for us. I grew up Unitarian Universalist, and one thing that bugs me about a lot of UU churches is that they’re often all talk and no action. Not so with this congregation. They’re on the right track to capturing the positive aspects of traditionally conservative religions (reaching out to the community, supporting young families) while still promoting the universal acceptance and social justice I love about UU.

This is group therapy not church.

Great place if your into this sort of thing. They have a very welcoming community, sermons really touch me, and the group of people you are sitting there listening with are quite diverse (in a liberal sort of way). Really enjoyable.
