I scheduled a facial here due to its convenience to my home, the excellent reviews, and professional looking website. The good: Minimal paperwork, a warm greeting and offer for a beverage when I arrived, a cozy treatment room, a friendly therapist who didn’t make conversation during the facial, and a very relaxing experience overall. My face looks and feels great! The bad: No mention of an extra charge for the additional 15 minutes of «relaxation» included in the 45 minute massage. Take note, if you choose an a la carte item, it’s $ 20⁄15 minutes. My therapist did not give me the heads up on this, I was just asked to choose the additional service. The ugly: After my facial, my therapist asked me to meet her at the receptionist’s desk downstairs. This is where she chose to give me her thoughts on my skin and make recommendations. Personally, I would have appreciated to be debriefed in the private room in which my facial was conducted as there was a waiting room full of customers. Everything was quite professional up until this point. Bottom line: I most likely will not return due to the surprise fee for my additional 15 minutes of «relaxation» and having my therapist review my facial at the receptionist desk.

The best salon in Minneapolis! I have thick brows and struggled finding a place that could tame them. I was referred to Leah by my best friend’s aunt. She is amazing. She travels to do training LA and worked on America’s Top Model. Leah did a beautiful job shaping my brows into an artful curve and keeping their fullness. I have also seen Ray Ann for brow wax and she is equally good and has a lower rate. Because I love this place so much I also have visited for a hair cut and facial. The facials are fantastic and totally relaxing. They use wonderful natural and organic products and each facial comes with a supplemental service –I personally love the hair conditioning treatment. I highly recommend Christopher as a hair stylist. One of the few times I have walked away LOVING my hair cut without thinking it will look better when it grows out. Overall blissful, spendy but totally worth it

I called here on a Saturday for a last-minute emergency brow-wax and they had no problem making an appointment for later that afternoon. That made me a very happy lady who was extremely excited about getting her eyebrows tamed. When I arrived I was offered water with peach-flavored antioxidants. I don’t know what magical potion I was served, and what healing properties it claimed to have, but it tasted okay so I drank it. While waiting in the lounge, I was repeatedly told how great my esthetician was and what other services she offered. Oh and all lingerie(why does a salon sell lingerie?) was 50% off and some bath products had such and such special going on. I have to say that the repeated«upselling», while very friendly and I’m sure coming from a helpful place, is the reason for the –1 star. My eyebrows were really really well done. How is it possible that there was such minimal pain and that my forehead wasn’t a red puffy mess after leaving? Seriously, the math on this does not add up. My brows were beautiful. Truly. It’s a amazing what a good brow clean-up will do to your face. 24 hours I received two(well three, but my mom doesn’t count) compliments on how bright and cheery I looked. For the record, I was barely awake after having a very sleepless night before. So I attribute these compliments to the magic they performed at Extrados. Also, for booking another appointment within 6 weeks from my first, I will receive $ 10 off that future service and I also got a card for 20% off a different service that I schedule later. These perks, plus my new gorgeous eyebrows will get me coming back for sure. I just hope next time while I’m waiting that I can read my magazine in peace!

I have been going to Extrados to see Jennifer for brow waxes and the occasional facial for two years. I am VERY picky about my brows, and Jennifer always does them perfectly. I wouldn’t see anyone else for any skin care or waxing service! The customer service is always great, and my brows are always perfect. What more can I say?

Although I love Leah’s work and the way she trains her staff, I have found it better to simply follow her staff when they leave her. Leah herself has no tact and is the definition of awkward. For example, I was in Africa for work for six months and when I arrived at Extrados for a brow appointment, she asked me where I had been. I explained I had been on a sugarcane plantation in Africa on a project for work and I was excited for the day — I was finally home and could get my hair cut, my brows done, a pedicure, etc. and I had the whole day for my appointments. She looked at me and said, with a totally straight face, «Well, I guess six months in Africa is as good excuse as any to totally let yourself go!» I was speechless — I knew I needed a haircut and my brows needed a waxing, but I run 40 miles per week and do 90 minutes of yoga nearly every single day. I didn’t realize a ponytail and tweezing would be considered«totally letting myself go.» But I continue to get my brows done by Sonja, who left awhile ago. Sonja is totally awesome and she felt completely embarrassed for me when Leah said that — in front of the entire salon! I like great results, but also like a little bit of tact.

After 5+ years of going to Villa de Style(see my other reviews) the 1500 + miles between Jen and I forced me to find someone new for my hair. Tony is hands down the best colorist in Minneapolis — he won’t take your hair to a shade that looks unnatural but somehow always finds a way to make ‘that color’ look your natural color. He used to be impossible to get appointments with but now that he left Frederik Fakkai in LA it is much easier to get a spot on his schedule. I have had both Shanon and Hans cut my hair — both do a really great job and I would send a friend to either. Hans got what I wanted to do with my bangs just a smidge more than Shanon so he is usually my first choice when booking an appointment. Great salon — reasonable prices — overall good find!

A good friend of mine was sweet to schedule an appointment with Ryane for my first facial! The bed was cosy, the facial was relaxing and effective and I learned a lot about my skin and how I should be taking care of it at home. I also had my brows done by Leah — they looked great… perfectly arched and tinted to add definition. Now I am trying to maintain them at home. I am not the usual salon goer(too frugal) but for a special treat in MPLS I can’t think of a better place. As an update I wanted to mention… I bought the Malibu Lash conditioner there and was blown over by the fact that my puny lashes are now long! Not any thicker but when I put on mascara watch out! I am amazed and very pleased with that purchase. Has changed me for the better.

I went to Extrados(Linden Hills) 4 times. Once for brows, and thrice for facials. Their brow reputation got me there initially and the results were just swell. I respect what they’re doing there-truly beautiful brow crafting that honors classic, natural shape(the same as I do for my lovely clients). The makeup was a nice touch but I was all itchy later that day, which NEVER happens to me. Could have been the wax or the makeup… Lastly, I prefer privacy during this service, and they do it out in the open amongst the stylists. That’s probably not an issue for other people. I had 2 facials with Missy, and she was the Esthetician I had been seeking. The perfect blend of feel-good therapy and real results through efficient extraction work and high-frequency technology. I also loved the products she used on me, some from their exclusive Spa Technologies line and also Eminence Organics. I purchased and loved the moisturizer she recommended. Of course, she’s no longer employed there. That always happens! I went back one more time for a facial with another gal, whose name I can’t recall. She was fine, but didn’t rock my world the way Missy did so I moved on. In response to Amy C’s review, I never encountered any snootiness. Reception was always friendly, as were all three service providers. Actually, their were four. Once I was offered a complimentary deep-conditioning hair treatment after my facial. I also appreciated the subtle things-customized water, aromatherapy, and super soft robes. I was sent a Thank-You Note with a coupon a few weeks later.

I’ve got thick brows and I’m always a little wary to have my wooly bears groomed because people always want to take a ton off and I just look silly with small brows. I had heard and read about Leah from Extrados as the brow queen of the Twin Cities, and I thought, if anyone can get these things under control and make them look beautiful, she can. So, I made an appointment. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was thrilled with the result. It wasn’t painful – nice change of pace. My brows look gorgeous now. They are still full, just clean and beautifully arched. She also talked to me about what she did, her thoughts, and what not to do – I always like leaving somewhere feeling like I learned something. There are 2 other salons… one in Linden Hills and one in Wayzata. She gave me a discount card(20%) for the Fredrick Fakkai(sp?) trained colorist in the Linden Hills location as well. I will totally be checking him out soon! If you want gorgeous brows, make an appointment with Leah asap!

If you’re looking for a new definition for pretentious, this place is it. They are a tiny shop located in the outskirts of Edina but by their attitude you’d think they were smack in the middle of Beverly Hills. Ironically, not even some of the best salons in Southern California are this snooty – and I lived in California for four years. They seem to forget they are just a tiny blip in the beauty world and that in order to make a mark they need a loyal following of clients(raving fans or devotees are even better). They got one write up in a major mag for their fanny facial(which I was told no one ever even orders) and they think they are the shiz nit. I am not the only one who hates this salon. They have quite the reputation for acting too cool for school. Personally, I began going to Extrados to get eyelash extensions, which are very pricey($ 300 for a full set, $ 150 for partial), plus $ 100 fills every other week. I made an appointment for an eyebrow wax. Unfortunately I got sick and so 22 hours prior to my $ 30 eyebrow appointment I called the salon to cancel and was told I would have to pay for $ 15 of my appointment because I cancelled within 24 hours. The receptionist said I had done this once before, which I had NOT, and that was the policy. Mind you I could barely speak because I had lost my voice and was sick. I explained that I had not ever cancelled within the 24 hour rule before and that I was a good customer who had spent hundreds of dollars in their salon, did they really want to lose me over $ 15? In fact they did. I even got a letter in the mail from the owner asking for the $ 15, otherwise I could not return to their salon, because their policies protect their bottom line. So folks, if you want to be treated like a number, or rather a dollar sign, by all means go to this salon but if you’d rather be pampered and treated with respect I recommend you go to Zilya on Hennepin(they do extensions), or any number of other salons. FIVETWOSIX Salon & Spa on Selby in St. Paul are super friendly. Even Juut is better.
