Erik Nelson Plumbing

Erik elevates the vocation of plumbing to a fine art. And he does it at a reasonable price. I have one of those lovely Minneapolis bungalows that I’m sure he sees plenty of. The first time I enlisted Erik, my main drain stack had finally started to corrode through after about 90 years of faithful service. He was sensitive to the issue of budget and made sure to offer me a solution that could limp me along for a few years, but also made it clear that for a few extra greenbacks, I could get the Cadillac of drains. As I am wont to do, I opted for the latter. A year or so later, I called Erik back to fix up the supply side of my plumbing situation. He extricated a rat’s nest of copper and steel that represented 90 years of amateur and professional patch jobs and replaced it with beautiful, clean runs of PEX. My house will likely never need a single bit of plumbing work ever again.
I recommend Erik to anybody that needs plumbing work.

Very happy i found this independent, small plumbing business. Erik is a local guy who is responsive, helpful, and willing to let me watch and learn from his expertise when he’s on-​site. I’m terrible at plumbing and have hired him twice to work in our basement and each time he was happy to walk me through the problem and give me advice for any future problems. His pricing is reasonable and his work is high quality and he is personable. Very happy to recommend him.

I have no idea why everybody else on this system seems to think this company is awesome and reasonably priced. They came, they did their job, nothing extraordinary as far as I can tell, and the RATES ARE NOT CHEAP which is what the other people published here on Unilocal implied in their ratings. Of course, maybe it would have been different if Erik came. It was some other guy. I would say average service and nothing to rave about.

I totally echo all of the positive reviews and comments about Erik and company. My disposal sprung a leak last night. I left a voice message for Erik. He called first thing this morning. Justin came out this afternoon, gave me a written quote, replaced the disposal, tested it and the price came in less than we thought. Great service! I would totally use them again, and would gladly recommend them to friends and family.

I thank the stars for Erik, who is to plumbing what Yoda is to the Jedi. He’s a wizard with plumbing problems large and small. I’ve hired him twice now, and besides his real skill I sincerely appreciate his cheerful Zen demeanor even when he’s getting doused with raw sewage. If you’ve read Matt Crawford’s book «Shop Class as Soulcraft; An Inquiry Into the Value of Work» you might recognize Erik as one of those men who take pride in a job well done, and who won’t screw you over. That’s pretty rare.
My only gripe is that he’s increasingly busy, with good reason.

Good plumber, good guy. I had some very simple stuff that needed fixing: the tub spout diverter was broken and the showerhead needed replacing. After wrestling with the tub spout, I found it impossible to remove. Erik removed it in about two seconds. He replaced everything, including the showerhead with one I purchased at Target. In less the a week the WaterPik showerhead fell to pieces (flying off the pipe and sending water everywhere). Erik was kind enough to research other brands for me, send a recommendation, put on a temporary showerhead, and then come out again and install the new one without charge. That’s integrity for you!
He is responsive, a straight shooter, and skilled.

We’ve used Erik Nelson’s plumbing services twice now, and we’ve been thoroughly satisfied. He’s on time, he’s respectful (covers his shoes with little bootie things before coming inside), and he does good solid work. And we know he’s not jacking us: his rates are very reasonable, and he even came in under his estimate by about $ 60 last time! His payment policies are easy peasy; you can pay online with a credit card, which has been incredibly convenient for us.
Erik is very personable, and clearly knows his stuff. He seems to be in high demand, though, so I recommend calling far in advance for routine work. I can’t speak to his ability to show up for emergencies, as both of our issues were not urgent. But I will certainly not hesitate to call him when we need him again. We’ve definitely found *our* plumber.

Twas the week before Christmas. and all through the house… was the dripping of a shut off valve in the basement. Eric responded (as in called AND arrived) to my call within 3 hours. Very professional, friendly, and efficient. You know how you always feel like you have just been taken advantage of… you won’t have to feel this way if you call him. Can’t recommend him highly enough!

I have had Erik do a number of jobs for me over the past year. Everything from a simple dishwasher hookup, to installing a backwater valve in our basement. He has been fast to respond, easy to deal with, and has fair prices.
I have recommended Erik to others for their plumbing needs in the past and continue to do so today.

I had Erik attach a new gas dryer recently. He made great recommendations on how he’d change the layout and the final work looked outstanding. Finished in the amount of time he estimated at the price he estimated. Very solid.

Erik was superb. Honest, fairly priced, enjoyable to work with and a true master of his craft. Called him and left a message that our water heater had just failed. He called back within 15 minutes, and was over in an hour to begin draining our natural gas water heater and disconnecting it. This was in mid-​afternoon, so could not get a same day delivery of the new water heater, so Erik set up a deliver for 8:00 the following morning. At 8:00am exactly Erik and the water heater delivery guy appear, new heater is installed and heating by 10:30am that morning. Erik replaced all values, used extra heavy copper piping, and replaced our flimsy aluminum vent hardware with much tougher steel, though he did not have to. He tested and retested until he was sure all gas, water and vent connections were in tip top running condition, then instructed me on operation. First class work, extremely happy. He is solo, so he may not be able to be as fast as he was with us, but Erik is the guy to call for quality work at a fair price, not easy to find in the plumbing business. Thank you Erik.

Just yesterday, I was telling my brother how I wish I knew a plumber to call about a sink disaster we had in our basement. I checked out Unilocal for a clue and found Erik Nelson Plumbing. I’m sure glad I did. Erik arranged to come the very next day (exactly when he said he would) and fixed everything I needed and then some. He also unearthed what had once been a pipe inside one of my walls that was the actual source of a problem I thought I had fixed myself.
I’ve done plenty of amazingly amateurish plumbing myself… enough to know that his work is anything but, clean and spot on. It is exactly why I am glad I called him instead of trying to fix it all myself. Do yourself and your pipes a favor. Leave it to Erik Nelson Plumbing.

What does mother nature give to the new home owner in MN? Frozen pipes of course. I came on to Unilocal and saw the different reviews for plumbers. We decided to go with Erik Nelson and we are glad we did. First of all, he is a local small business guy. So we are supporting the local economy. Second, he is really reasonable even for an emergency visit. Third after he viewed our pipes, he fixed the problem and then offered solutions to on how to keep it from reoccurring. He came back and did the work. It was very reasonable and looks so far like quality work. I would definitely recommend him to a friend.
