Perfectly satisfied our late-night pizza cravings. The traditional(i.e. hand-tossed) crust was so thick, I wonder what the deep dish is like. Very tasty pepperoni pizza, and very quickly made. It was even brought out to our table for us, when I thought this kind of counter service restaurant would have us retrieve it ourselves.(Maybe they always do this for full pizza orders, maybe it was just because there weren’t many customers at the time. Still, a nice touch.) Nice, clean restaurant. Fairly empty due to the late time, but the many partitions look like they would do a pretty good job of downplaying the volume of the multitude of conversations that would collide in an open floor plan. Friendly, polite staff topped off the experience. Notable because we showed up an hour before closing – sometimes a risky endeavor elsewhere.

5 stars for the food, 3 stars for service. Food was absolutely delicious, but once we ordered, tracking down an employee to help was next to impossible. Out of forks — took at least 5 minutes waiting at the counter to wave someone down to get a set of plastic utensils. Same thing when we were ready to go and needed a box. We did come in later(around 9, they close at 11), and were the only ones there, but the waiting really brought this review down.

Super delicious food. The pizza was great but so was the hoagies. My wife just kept saying ‘yummy’. Highly recommend. The owner/manager lady even gave us samples of the pizza… come spend money here.

I LOVE Davannis, nothing beats there turkey Hoggie on wheat bread. They put quite a bit Italian mayo so i usually ask light. They have a great white pizza. This is a wonderfully lunch place, easy to bring the kids. People are always very friendly and great

I used to love their deep dish pizzas so when in town ordered it. Yuck. This place has seriously gone down hill and cannot justify the price. Papa johns is better. Also funny ordered black olives on half and pineapple on the other(online). It came with both toppings on one side and none on the other. Good sign of employees who don’t care!

Tried to order delivery from them. Sat around waiting on it. Called them an HOUR later and they never received the online order despite getting an e-mail from them. By then their delivery was closed. Complete crap.

Don’t come here. 15 people in the resturant at 1115 took 25 minutes to get 6 wings and a calzone. Needs an expo and a manager that give a damn really badly

To summarize, my calzone tasted scarily like plastic and was wet. I was unsure as to why and the pasta was falling apart it was so over cooked and The spinach was just globbed on top. Too expensive for portions. The garlic bread was good though.

I was visiting Minneapolis for a short trip and I came in late on a weeknight. Davanni’s was one of the only places open and walking distance to where I was staying. By the way, this California girl deciding to walk a measly 0.2 miles in the Minnesota January winter weather was not the brightest idea I’ve ever had. So on to the food. Since I was flying solo I didn’t really want a whole pizza to myself so the guy suggested a calzone. I chose the onion, green pepper and sausage one. It took about 20 minutes to be made. Had to walk it back and it was still warm in the center when I got to dig in. Yummy crust on the outside with a cheesy center. Good price, well-made calzone, open late. Not too shabby.

Davanni’s is next door to my home so though I’m only checking in when I think about it, quite honestly I eat here at least once every two weeks. The thing I’ve learned about Davanni’s is that the food and quality of your experience is soley based on who is working that night. Some days I get great food that seems fresh and well made and other days I would almost take it back if I had the energy to head back out. I prefer to get their southwest chicken sub(the chicken is lightly cut and the salsa is spicy and tangy). As long as the bread is fresh and the dressing doesn’t make the lettuce limp, the sandwich is usually to die for. Their pizza is alright — nothing extraordinarily special, but for the price one can’t complain. I recently discovered their Penne pasta with red/white sauce mix is quite delicious as they serve it with additional melted cheese and it becomes all gooey and the pasta is usually aldente just like I like. The garlic bread which is served with everything isn’t as salty or buttery as one might like, but it serves it purpose. Honestly the location downtown is nice because it’s always clean, rarely busy and they always have their big screen turned to the local sports teams. It’s a great place to settle in with decent food, get some free wi-fi, watch a game and their soda machine is something out of the future — it’s awesome!

I’d been to the Davanni’s over on Riverside several times when I used to live over there, plus they deliver, so for a while I enjoyed their greasy if unspectacular food. I often got their calzones. For some reason I got a wild hair to come over to this downtown location and I must say, it was pretty awful. I can’t say much about the pizza, but the experience reminded me how overpriced and greasy Davanni’s is. The employees were nice enough, but it took quite a while to get my calzone. The side Caesar salad I had was OK, nothing special but decent for $ 2.40 or whatever. It seemed that since they had to make my calzone to order, it took like 10 – 15 minutes to get it ready. That’s not the end of the world, but once I got it, grease was just flooding out of it into a pool on the plate. I guess I just had a craving for calzones, which not a lot of places do. But the calzone and a side Caesar ran to nearly $ 10, without a drink. There are way better and more affordable options downtown, even just the pedestrian skyway joints. Then, to top it off I got panhandled by some dude just as I was finishing my food, in the restaurant. I know this is just fast-food pizza, but the grease factor is pretty sickening and the whole experience is kinda lousy. They have a nice big space; it’s too bad there’s not a better restaurant here. I won’t be back.

Convenience is the name of the game with this place. Convenient location, fast service, and friendly employees make it easy to drop in and grab a pizza by the slice, or even a whole pizza, at the drop of a hat. The crust is just the right mix of crunchy(not too thin and crispy) and soft(but not too doughy), and the seasonings are just right in the sauce(not too sweet, not too spicy). If I was in a time crunch and needed something fast and filling, this was my go-to spot no matter the time of year.

Don’t even bother ordering pizza by the slice here. I think they must make thier pizzas at least a few hours in advance because they taste very bland and dry, and the toppings and cheese taste like they’ve been affected by either excessive storage time or freezing. Thier calzones are pretty good, but I’d hit up the places in the Downtown Skyway’s for pizza by the slice instead. I’ve had whole pizzas at other Davanni’s and thought they tasted good but have only had slices from this location and haven’t been too impressed. The possibility that you may get a good whole pizza here prevents me from giving them lower than a 3 star rating but I can’t guarantee you’re gonna like it.

Excellent deep-dish pan pizza. I couldn’t eat it all so took it back to my hotel room where I had a refrigerator. It was just as good when I heated it up the next evening for«Round Two». Would have liked the restaurant more if they had servers. As it was, I ordered my pizza and pre-paid for two beers at the counter, got my own water, utensils, shake cheese and peppers and returned for the pizza when called. If I based my rating solely on the restaurant, I would have just given it three stars — basically a fast food joint with good food. But, the pizza was so good I just rated it on that. I only had the deep-dish pepperoni and mushroom(my standard for a pizza place the first time I eat there — if you can’t get that right, I’ll never go back). I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in the area(I visit Minneapolis quite often). While it’s not the«perfect» Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, I’m not really the caring kind. Next time I’ll try something different, although I’m sure I’ll be inclined to stick with what I know.
