Chuck and Don’s

We love this store! Everyone is so friendly and always help. Our buddy needed a fleece sweater for the cold and the young man working allowed us to try on a few different styles and sizes. When it was clear they didn’t have what we needed for size, he offered to order it. He was patient and gave my pup a treat! What a pleasant experience.

I HAD to write a follow-​up to my previous visit at this location (which has an equally as high rating)!
About 4 weeks ago, I was back in the neighborhood and came in looking for a hard-​to-​find dog hair brush (I know this because I had gone to a couple pet stores and looked online with no success). My chihuahua is no friend to any dog hair brush and I had given up and provided my unspoken consent to give the interior of my home a white-​angora-​sweater look.
A friend of mine brought out her oval-​shaped, no handle, rubber dog hair brush and suggested I try it out on my dog since I’ve expressed all my past failures with similar contraptions. Not only did my dog NOT leap out of my lap, but he stayed and even seemed to display some admiration of what seemed to be more of a massage tool (m-​i-​r-​a-​c-​l-​e).
The price was reasonable, but the reason I’m writing this follow-​up is to, yet again, shout from the rooftops of their great customer service. Everyone working in the store greeted me or was engaged with another customer.
The icing on the cake was that I just, in the last couple of days, received a HANDWRITTEN card from them in the mail thanking me for my purchase of the dog hair brush and included a 25% off coupon for any size bag of dog food! Who does that anymore?! I’m absolutely impressed and it made its desired affect on me. I’ll be a lifer to Chuck & Don’s!

Being new to the state, we came here to buy dog food as we saw they carried the brand we were needing online. I called ahead of time and the man was very nice who confirmed they did have what we wanted in stock. When we arrived all of the staff were so welcoming and helpful in showing us what we needed. This definitely will be our go to when shopping for pet supplies from now on.

We had to make a stop in here after our lovely corgi rolled in some old dog poop across the way in the abandoned White Castle parking lot. We purchased some puppy wipes, poop bags, and a large Himalayan chew. The prices were great (about on par with Petco by us in Chicago, maybe a little less) and they were nice enough to let us wipe our smelly, smelly dog down in the lobby. Thanks guys, and sorry for the awful stench!

I found Chuck and Don’s because I was searching for a pet store that sold the food brand I feed my dog. I moved from Wisconsin, and was happy to find that it’s only a few miles from my house.
They have a great selection of high quality food, and the staff has always been really helpful if I had questions. Prices are slightly higher than your regular chain stores like Petco/​Pet Smart, but worth it for the selection. Also, as a «Friend of chuck and dons» you get a little rebate coupon back for a percentage of what you spent in the store each quarter. That’s a greatperk!

By far the worst Chuck and Don’s I have been to. Their customer service is awful. The last time I went in I asked about a cleaner and how well it removed per odors. The girl kept telling me it wasn’t for cleaning it was for odors. And I knew that, I kept telling her I was just wondering how well it got rid of the smell and she refused to at least tell me she didn’t know. Just gave me bs answers. THEN my boyfriend and I heard her and anther girl talking about us as we were leaving the store.
They also always ask me if I’m a friend of chuck when I buy food and I am so I give them my info so I can add the bag towards my free one and they almost never actually add the bag at this location.

This place is great! Conveniently located so I can stop to get food for myself and my dog. Plus, the staff is incredibly nice (always asking if they can give treats to my dog, or offering to carry the large bag of food to my car). They even went so far as to special order a particular flavor of dog food for me — and who doesn’t love the rewards program with money back and free bags of food after repeated purchases. Love the selection, location, and staff.

What amazing customer service the Chuck and Don’s team provides! Not only are they beyond helpful, they are very friendly and know their stuff.
This past weekend it was below zero in the Twin Cities. My pup’s paws were freezing so I called to see if they had any dog boots in stock. Due to the high demand in response to the frigid temps, they were out of her size. The woman helping me immediately looked at her inventory calendar and found out she would get a new order in on Monday. I asked her to put some aside for me and she said she would hold both a small and a medium just to be on the safe side. After I thanked her, she then asked if I would need anything else. I let her know I would also need a large bag of Blue Buffalo puppy food. She cheerfully told me she would also set that aside so my order would be all set to go when I came in on Monday!
When I hung up, I said «I wish I could get this kind of service every time I called a store for assistance!»
Then, on Monday around noon, I received a call from the store letting me know that the boots had come in and they, along with my puppy food, were all ready for pick up.
When I stopped in the store, all employees greeted my dog and I and each one came over to play with my pup.
I love this store and need to make this my regular pet store!

I love this pet store! Not only do they carry my dog’s really hard to find food, they have my purchase schedule in their system so they make sure to have a big bag on hand for my approximate buy time. They also carry a huge assortment of gluten free treats, which makes me and my pooch happy. I also love that they have a ready supply of femur bones, so I can distract my guy with a tempting treat while I eat my own dinner. I have a champion chewer, which they always remember. They make sure to let me know when new toys come in that may be worth a shot. The Bionic bow shaped top is incredible! He has had it since May and there is barely a nick in it., even though he chomps on it every day. This is a dog who tears through a black Kong in record time. They came up with a knot toy that is great for fetch in the house. Balls were lasting about an hour before a chunk would come off and they would no longer bounce. The knots take a lot longer to destroy and they are nice and quiet when we toss them around. I am also really grateful to them for the good recommendations to other pet-​related vendors and nearby parks. There are a lot of pet stores in town, but I love the selection and attention to customer service at this one.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. It carries Orijen — the only food I would feed my puppy. And they always have it in stock. They have a buyer’s rewards program so every 13^th bag I get free and I get quarterly checks (much like a CO-​OP) and I just use that to spend there as well.
They have a variety of treats, bones, raw foods, supplements, and some awesome Shampoos and Conditioners made right in MN. I also discovered the benefits of Coconut Oil for the puppy there — they sell a dog version and while it’s a little over priced and I can purchase the same amount human grade for slightly less, it was an amazing discovery — Puck, the Weimaraner Puppy — has the most beautiful coat in the world! (not biased)
But seriously — stop shopping at Petco… LIKE NOW. Go to a place where people are knowledgeable and support ethical and sustainable foods for pets.

When the sign for Chuck and Don’s first went up on the Lunds building, I had my doubts. Pet food? You want to sell animal supplies in the same building as the most expensive grocery store I’ve ever been to? Now, keep in mind that up until four months ago my only experiences with pet stores were Pet Smart and Twin Cities Reptiles. Not the most appetizing of establishments.
Me (unexpectedly) acquiring a kitty coincided with the opening of this new location so I decided to check it out… and I’ve been a «regular» ever since! My first positive impression was when they were giving out awesome gift bags on opening day and they let me have a couple extras. My kitty very much appreciated it.
I went back to check our their raw, frozen food selection (for cats they carry Primal and Nature’s Variety) and at the time they were out of the Primal sample packs. I asked when they’d be getting more in and an employee offered to give me some extra nuggets they had in the back for free! Really went out of her way to help me out. The people that work at this location are such a breath of fresh air. It’s nice to get interaction that isn’t 90% apathy.
They always have a kitty that is looking for a home and they seem to have impressive adoption rates (I don’t think I’ve ever seen the same cat there twice… but maybe they just move the cats around to the different locations?).
I’ve also been sooo impressed with the brands of cat food they carry and the prices are quite reasonable. There isn’t much in the way of carriers and cat beds which could be improved… but they’re working with limited space.
If you’re trying to juggle a huge bag of litter or food they’ll offer to bring it out to your car for you. Such a treat.
Chuck and Don’s also offers a «friend of Chuck» rewards program that gives you a quarterly rebate (that you use for credit at their stores) based on a percentage of what you’ve spent., as well as a newsletter with a bunch of other coupons. Couldn’t be happier that they’re in my neighborhood.
